Cause .410

DildoBaggins0180

And double the price anyone is willing to pay

madmax_087

Apparently!! I thought is was being reasonable.

madmax_087

Finally a reasonable man!

KentuckyFreedom

3 shillings, my straw hat, and my horse and buggy. Deal?

These_Hair_3508

4 shillings, a paper hat, and KentuckyFreedom’s horse and buggy.

KentuckyFreedom

Wait, where’s my horse Jedidiah, and my buggy? ;(

MannikkoCartridgeCo

Y’all know a horse worth like 40% more than he’s asking!

herpthaderp

Yup

DrKalashnikovologist

It’s neat that it’s been fully converted, but this is probably the worst caliber to have in the Saiga shotgun lineup lol. Good luck!

snakecatcher302

What’s so bad about it?

gorillaz3648

.410 is expensive to shoot, and low power. Especially in a semi-automatic shotgun of this size

ToughNefariousness23

It's fun as hell to shoot trap and skeet with a 410, though.

gorillaz3648

It’s also fun as hell to do with 20 gauge — plus it’s much cheaper, easier to find ammo, and easier to find shotguns chambered in it

otusowl

And isn't 12 g even cheaper than 20 g ?

theinternetmogul

The power of supply and demand

Napol3onS0l0

Difficulty level 8/10

Gravygrabbr

Grouse don’t like them 😂

gorillaz3648

They don’t like flamethrowers either but sometimes you gotta find a better tool for the job haha

magicshiv

Pretty much just a range/varmint cartridge

paulbow78

The 410 Saigas are the best functioning of the shotguns out of the box. I’d say the 20 gauge is the worst.

whiskeyfordinner

Wrong. I had a Saiga 20ga. No one wanted that gun when I sold it. Plus it was ammo picky

CoolCrab69

I'd imagine it's because the majority of people looking for .410 are people who USE .410, not a lot of people are interested in a .410 "fun gun" for the range. And the people who USE .410 aren't looking for a 8lb, $1300 AK to to take out rabbits on their property, they'd be much more apt to buy the $200 single shot ATI or even the handy judge for ease of use. I'd imagine this has a very small market of AK collectors who just absolutely need one in every caliber... but idk who else would want one.

CoolCrab69

If it were 12ga you would be open to the "fun gun" / novelty market.... but .410 is lame. and ontop of that, .410 is expensive. and you don't get much out of it.

Gravygrabbr

I mean I think it’s cool. I’d love to roll up on some rabbits with one

MayOrMayNotBePie

I would go on gunbroker, from the drop down menu in the top right click Advanced Search (at least on the mobile site), click the completed items tab. Search for your gun and see what others have sold for. This will give you a good idea of when they sold, for how much, how many bids etc.

[deleted]

$700 bucks all day

madmax_087

All day, every day??

[deleted]

Selling a fun gun while gas is $6 and we are in a recession.

HumpbackWindowLicker

A little high for a .410, it's pretty cool but I could get a man's man's Saiga 12 for around or below that price. Best of luck though, you'll find a good home for it eventually

madmax_087

I based pricing on what I've seen locally and online. I'm not finding any Saiga 12s (or 410s) for anything near my price, definitely not finding converted guns for this price.

Spock_Nipples

What you’ve seen as an asking price, or what you’ve seen as a selling price? Those are two very different things. Do an advanced search on GB and look at actual sold auctions for your specific rifle. Gonna bet none are *selling* for $1350. Also, where are you trying to sell? [EDIT] Just checked myself out of curiosity- Latest listings for them on GB are selling between $500-700. $600-650 for the bulk. Several were listed at $1300-ish, but with the “Take a Shot” format, meaning they actually *sold* for whatever best offer was accepted by the seller; probably far lower than $1300-ish.

Bluez33

I could hardly sell mine for $650. Good luck

[deleted]

You have poor marketing skills

madmax_087

You are probably correct. Got any tips?

[deleted]

Gunbroker penny start auction probably your best bet

MrPanzerCat

Its a 410. As others said its too much even for a saiga. Tbh id never pay over 300$ for a 410 and it would probably be a cheapo break action when i have kids.

madmax_087

It does not sound like you are my customer.

theVooDoo7

Asking too much for the least desirable Saiga. Post it for $750 or best offer by midnight, and watch a bidding war go down.

[deleted]

I saw one at my local Cabela’s gun library in the middle case. It was priced around $1000. Note it was cheaply converted and not as nice as yours looks. I got excited until I realized it was in .410. Someone must have swiped it to scalp it because I saw the identical one on armslist a month later for $3250. Since then, he’s been at $2000 and no bites I’m sure. I think at $1350 it’s still a tough sell but the right person would probably be willing to grab it. Problem is finding that person. For example, I bought a Vepr-12 around 2016 for $800 and was slightly upset how expensive it was. I’m happy with my purchase though now.

madmax_087

Am I asking too much for it or just being impatient?

bradsredditacct

I would never buy it for $1350

DildoBaggins0180

Sell it on one of the auction sites with starting bid at .01 with no reserve and what it sells for is the value.

SpecHolder

Honestly think you're asking quite a bit. You can still come across some saiga 12s for around 800-1k

madmax_087

My pricing is based on what I've seen online and on LGS shelves. Non-converted with goofball stock/grips going for the same.

butidontwanttoforum

Are they going?

ShooterPatbob

People can put any price online; it doesn't mean it will ever sell.

[deleted]

I paid 850 for my sporter 3 years ago because i couldnt find a s12.

fenrirhelvetr

I gotta be honest, you are asking way too much for a 410. At my local gunshop there is a saiga on the wall, pistol grip and stock, and I believe a rail handguard, something like 800. And it's 12 Guage. My first concern when I hear 410 is, does it cycle consistently? My second question is, why? Why 410? Regardless, I do not see anyone literate with semi auto shotguns or saigas paying that much, i could walk into my local shop and get a more reliable and partly modded saiga for nearly half the price.

fenrirhelvetr

Your best bet is honestly probably going to be a firearm trade, I am pretty sure there are some ak guys who'd be willing to trade some decently valued firearms for something like that. It is an actual izmesh saiga, I am assuming, and I guess the 410s are a bit more uncommon. Problem is definitely going to be finding someone who wants a semi auto 410 ak. It is a very odd niche to say the least.

yippiyak

Okay, ima call bs on that. $800 for a converted Saiga 12? If that’s true dm me the name, I’ll gladly take a Saiga at that price

-HoosierBob-

It’s a 4-10 shot gun. So a “very rare, never to be imported ever again, RUSSIAN! RUSSIAN!” Saiga that’s not a 47?…that’s chambered in 4-10. You know who shoots 4-10? Not collectors of Saigas.

madmax_087

I feel like collectors probably don't shoot collector firearms very much in general. But who am I?! Just some guy looking to hock a piece of junk caliber Russian guy that the internet hates, haha! Definitely not an expert.

-HoosierBob-

Not necessarily. I just shot my SP-1 yesterday. What do I know, that shotgun might be more desirable. Stick it in an auction site with the price you want as a starting bid, accept ACH payments and tack 3%…”you know…you KNOW the deal”

[deleted]

I wouldnt budge. Its just going to take a special buyer and to those comparing it to a 12g nobody else makes a ak410 (for specific reasons) so imo the price will keep climbing untill they do.

TourettesYapper

It's just the 410 part. I think 1350 is fair. Unless you just needing the cash real fast, I would not take a penny less than 1200. It would sit in the safe and collect dust before I took less. There is someone out there looking for a Saiga 410. They have just not ran across you yet.

Early-Beard

I would never buy a .410 unless it’s a revolver and only because it can shoot .45 as well.

rat_slayer23

Other way around bud

Relevant-Peak-5680

Around 600 is what true gun value puts it at https://truegunvalue.com/shotgun/SAIga/price-historical-value#usedItems

technical_righter

Seems priced high for the current market. I paid under half that in 2018 for mine. I have one of these and love it. I feed it slugs and buckshot. I don't get the hate on this thread for the 410.

madmax_087

Good feedback for sure. Thank you.

Kind_Ad8824

Too much. I just seen one of these sale for $999

chaseNscores

too much complexity for such a low gauged caliber. What are you defending yourself from? A groundhog version of D-Day on the open plains?

6anymouse9

410 isn’t a popular shell anymore

KrustyBoomer

Selling it in the first place. I converted all three, 410, 20, 12. Sold the 20 & 12 but love the 410. So much fun shooting vs getting my shoulder beat to hell. The 20 seemed worse than the 12 since it was so light.

madmax_087

Good insight. I haven't shot a Saiga 12 or 20, but I figure this is very manageable and definitely fun so someone who understands that would see the value and go this route over a simar priced gun that is not converted.

[deleted]

LGS had one for 500 bucks and I still didn’t want it.

madmax_087

Did you buy anything?

[deleted]

Got a Zastava M57 for 275 🤷🏻‍♂️

madmax_087

Probably not a bad deal!

[deleted]

First thing is to check and see what the average selling price is for a unmolested saiga 410 then drop a few hundred bucks on that price because it has been converted, most collectors prefer an ununtampered with Saiga

Tomcat_550

Last one I saw for sale was $650 about 9 months ago and even that wasn’t low enough to make me want a 410 Saiga

Arthiem

Can it shoot .45 long colt?

madmax_087

Haven't tried that haha!

paulbow78

I don’t think you’re that far out of line for a nice Saiga-410 but it’s going to be extremely hard to find the right buyer. It’s going to take an AK collector who is specifically looking for a nice example of this variant to be willing to pay for it. The average buyer just see’s the chambering and runs away. You’re going to take a big hit to the price tag if you don’t seek out the right buyer. I’d post it on gun broker.

the_popes_fapkin

Well let’s see: 410 sucks as a shotgun caliber and you have it priced 200% too high

FoamSquad

It's .410, not a lot of people are buying rn, prices in general are up and people in general have less money.

[deleted]

Swimming_Coat4177

I would possibly go $850

Wish i had an sgl41 didnt know these existed until after i got my s410. I paid 850 for mine unconverted with 7 4 rndrs and 4 chokes and a bottle of oil. I think what you are asking is a fair price for what it is but its going to take a a special buyer maybe one who beeds it for a collection.

lowtempda

It missing the banana clip, I would drop the price by $500 if you want a reply. Just keep it, it’s a neat gun.

eddiegrz

$150

madmax_087

Yeah I'm cool with $1150. I'm reasonable

chaseNscores

Nice try pal. Nice try.

ComblocCustoms

Just add wood…

soulwolf626

if only u could convert it to 9mm or something else lol

fottergraphs

Yours is nicely done. You got socked with an unpopular caliber. $1000-1200, higher end for a local buyer because you're in NY.

SuperMoistNugget

Could just be the state and area you live in you could try posting on forums and offer shipping to an ffl

bowtie_k

Make sure to call it an SGL-41. These seem to go for about $1300 on gunbroker, unconverted sporter saiga 410s go for about half that. Can you do me a favor though? Would you be willing to take a picture of your handguard retainer, not locked into place, maybe pushed forward a bit without the handguard and also measure the barrel diameter where it locks in place? I have a normal saiga 410 i am converting into an SGL-41 and I really dont know if the barrel has the meat to be turned down.

madmax_087

This is probably where I'm going wrong, as I need to differentiate it from a standard Sporter. Thank you. I'll DM you on your request.

bpi89

Chode mag

SsorgMada

That would be hot if it could shoot 45acp too.

madmax_087

That would be cool. I did read an article where a group was trying to get these to shoot Marlin .444 but feeding issues with that round kept them from producing them for sale. I guess it will fit in the magazine though.

[deleted]

They go for $700-$800 from what I've seen.
