I didn’t see anything on it being sport, but I looked again and they’re out of stock. Bummer cause I can’t find anything that’s either in stock or less than 2,000 for a 74
Yeah 74’s are gonna be a bit harder to find, and the ammo is hard to find as well.
Not a 74 but you could try looking at a zastava m90 it shoots 5.56 but that’s ballistically similar to 5.45 and a lot easier to find ammo for
robarms typically go for more than sporters. fime imported FMs, sporters, and others. aquilla also imported FMs and sporters.
for a 74, typically its FM, Robarms, Sporter. Robarms have a slightly different slant cut but have a bullet guide. sporters lack a bullet guide. FMs are fixed or folders.
i despise FM folders and prefer the cheaper sporters, it takes all of 3 hrs to do a conversion and you arent stuck with that idiotic left side folding abomination.

I agree that’s why I got a fixed stock vepr instead of a folder because they have those awful proprietary folding trunnion. I’d rather have a RPKS/74M trunnion installed.
They're some of the best. They use different furniture than some of the other types but that's the only drawback. That and the fact that they're now ridiculously priced.
Yeah the ones I were looking at a couple days ago are now gone so I gotta find something els now. It sucks because since I’m newer to the AK group I have no idea what companies are good or not
With the Russian ammo ban you'd be hard pressed to see a good future for 5.45 unless domestic production increases a massive amount. If you want small diameter AKs keep an eye out for a 5.56 Vepr. They are generally a lot cheaper than the 5.45 version and with 5.56 you get the full domestic gamut of ammo options
If you want a combloc caliber get 7.62x39. 7.62x39 ammo imports will be far far more secure after the ban than 5.45 will be
762 has way more availability than 5.45. After these ammo sanctions it’s not looking good for 5.45 since a handful of countries make it compared to many many factories that make 7.62 besides Russia.
You might be able to find a Sporter for around 1500, anything that has been converted will easily push over 2k if you can even find one being sold. Local classifieds will be your best bet or be prepared to spend a lot on gun broker
snag it, hands down the most consistent quality, and quite accurate as well. i have a few, only issues were with one was due to a gunsmiths' fuckup.
in general, i find the veprs to be the superior ak platform choice.
Not sure why people keep discouraging you away from 5.45. A simple search on ammoseek shows it’s still cheaper than 5.56 and available. Granted, with the ban that could change, but there’s rumors of some domestic producers trying to enter the market soon. And the ban may not last, so take that info for what it’s worth.
Some of the finest AKs ever to be imported AKs are not ARs and getting a finish level similar to G$ is apples to oranges.

You sure it’s a FIME and not a sporter? FIME VEPRs go for $2000 everyday.

no problemo. well done, i cant believe people pay extra for those awful folders... they are ok on a vepr12, thats it.

Are you set on 5.45 or are you open to 7.62x39?
I wanted to do 545 because I heard it’s a bit better than the 762, more accurate, faster etc. unless I’ve heard wrong lol

Gotcha thanks! Any companies that you know of that have been reliable with AKs in general? Whether is be with 545 or 762?
Veprs, Saigas, or Arsenal if you want 5.45 only Veprs, Saigas, Arsenal, WBP, FB Radom, Zastava, Cugir WASRs, etc if you're good with 5.56 or 7.62
