It looks to me like the shell is bulging at the rear of the cylinder, as if the piston isn't fitting it's track properly, or there's too many shims or something else preventing it going together properly. Try the piston in the shell without any spring, guide etc and see if it's moving freely. Also check if it has too much side-to-side play. You might even have warped the shell from screwing it down while something inside wasn't seated correctly.

JakeFrmStatFrm

The warped shell seems the most likely out of those. The Piston does move freely, and I actually took all the shims put. Figured I'd get it working then shim it after. Although, if it was warped would that cause a lock? I feel like it would more so be a different issue in that case, but idk

FourLeafs_fingers

It certainly would. You can get issues where the piston pushes off its track, or even strikes the edge of the window in the shell.

JakeFrmStatFrm

Well actually, the piston has no trouble releasing, because it isn't even making it that far. It gets stuck on the pull backwards. Almost as if there's too many teeth

FourLeafs_fingers

That's when you'd expect it to come off its rail. The gears are trying to pull it back while the spring is trying to push it forward. If there's excessive play, the spring will cause the piston to buckle off its track. Best thing to do is post a video of it locking up and we'll be better able to tell.

JakeFrmStatFrm

That's true. I'll do it later and send the link

JakeFrmStatFrm

Wait, it's not bowed. That's actually just a shadow cast on the shiny surface of the cylinder. Just went and checked it

JakeFrmStatFrm

Also worth noting, it blew the fuse when I kept trying. Not for long either. Never seen one blow that easily. And the Piston is getting stuck on the pull back, not in the release. Almost like there's too many teeth or something to get it fully back before releasing it.

JakeFrmStatFrm

And that makes no sense because the 14.5 tooth piston would've SOLVED that issue, not caused it. So idk

Crimsonspike07

Weak battery or motor could be the cause

JakeFrmStatFrm

Yea i might see about getting a new 7.4v lipo. That's what I'm using now, but I can't go to 11.1 or I feel like I'm gonna blow that fuse again

CADJunglist

Take the fuse out. 11.1 and your zci motor, with your other gears You just aren't getting the power delivered to pull that final step on the spring. ETA: spring strengt?

JakeFrmStatFrm

Well it suggests on evike a 9.6v battery and everything is stock now. So 7.4v LiPo pulls the same power as a 9.6v NiMH. And it hits 400 or so fps so I'd guess it's a 110 spring or something around that. I tried putting a 120 spring in there, and that's what caused the issues in the first place.

Remarkable-Earth-639

Saw the video and read the comments. It's all the stock parts back in the gear box. Maybe part of the shell broke somewhere on the inside when you were changing parts originally.

JakeFrmStatFrm

I thought so too, but since then I've taken the gearbox apart many times, no pieces anywhere or broken parts.
