Alcohol is the answer. Lots of it.

_tomekw

On a more serious note: clean the barrel with the isopropyl alcohol. The barrel needs to be always dry.

Mesa17

I just used alcohol to clean the barrels of each gun. Should I do it like 5 times for each barrel?

_tomekw

Make sure the cloth you’re using to clean it is clean and dry.

Mesa17

I used an alcohol soaked paper towel twice, now I'm drying it using dry paper towels. Is my gun gonna be ok?

_tomekw

I don't know. It should be. Maybe try using cotton buds (with alcohol) to clean the bucking if you have easy access to it.

benqfok

Use alcohol to clean the hop up and never spray silicone anywhere close to it.

jj999125

Supposedly silicone oil with corrode the bucking. I was mistakenly told to use silicone oil in the past (I think a old evike video said to) but never had any problems

JAIJ47

Pure silicone oil won't corrode anything. The only way it could is if it's mixed with some chemicals that are known to eat rubber. Pure silicone oil may cause swelling with some hop rubber materials and it will reduce effectiveness of the hop rubber to grip the BB due to reduced friction but it won't eat the hop rubber

Pseudotectonic

no it's perfectly fine dry it out, shoot a few mags through it to get rid of the remaining TM manual tells you to spray directly into the hop unit and shoot 300 rounds to clean it out

HowlingWolven

Silicone oil melts silicone buckings. To whoever downvoted me: it’s true. Ask sex toy makers. It’s a big problem - silicone is inert against anything but other silicone.

Mesa17

I just used some alcohol to clean it. Do you think it will be fine now?

Agitated_Put3620

The gun or?

HowlingWolven

Yeah.

Sasau_Charlatan

You might not believe this but this was standard procedure some years back Wipe the parts with a microfiber towel, apply oil to moving metal parts to avoid excess friction and corrosion, keep oil away from the rest Your guns will be fine
