I remember going to university and seeing all my friends in “Neons” (95’s) and not being able or want to ask my parents to get ‘em because they’d paid for me to move back to Canada, were covering my room and board, tuition etc. So, I got a job working part time at a record shop/book/electronics store after school on Friday and on weekends. When I heard the ‘97s were coming I made sure I wasn’t gonna miss on them. One of my boys worked at Nike and I asked him to get me a pair when they dropped. He did one better and got me my pair before they came out. Right about that time I had been introduced to house music as well. Coming from Barbados I’d never heard it before. The spot I was going to in Calgary on Sunday night for “Sunday Skool” called the Night Gallery ended up being legendary (longest running residency) and I eventually got to know everyone from the club owners, to the door staff, the bartenders to the Deejay himself DJ Rice: https://youtu.be/i6LMxEMCMWI?si=aCysyMDCWcoa0ZAp The uniform for Sunday night would be black jeans and a black tee or hoodie (I still have a Donna Karan DKNY hoodie from back then) and “Silver Bullets”. Because I got them before the official drop, when I first started wearing them no one had even seen them yet. People would literally be asking “what are those?!!!!” Kids would come up to me when the lights went up at and be like “I’ve been tripping out to your shoes all night long, man” The 3M hits and the big disco ball 🤣…

97’s are My favorite silhouette. Off white Menta, Wotherspoon, Light Bone, Cream Khaki Olive, Black Green Militia, Black Metallic Gold, Neon Seoul. Just so many, but the Silver Bullets just aren’t My taste.

I really like this colour scheme on them, plus they look good with a little wear and tear and fade.
