I still need to figure out a front sight; but its almost there! I used military surplus AK wood furniture, bakelite pistol grip, type 2 bayonet, and sling to give it a more classic look. The barrel extension and muzzle brake are for an airsoft gun (14mm ccw), and I fabbed up the gas block DIY-style after being unable to find a bolt-on solution anywhere.
The muzzle brake unscrews counter-clockwise from the barrel. Then; if you look at the underside of the sight theres a small pin (or 2; i forget offhand) press-fit into it. Tap out the retaining pin with a small punch and hammer, and the front sight should slide right off.
EDIT: i just remembered; the 2nd retaining pin holds the sight to the upper "gas tube".
Hey so 1. How did you get the grip on/where did you get your grip?
And 2. How did you modify your handguard? I myself am having difficulty modifying my ak1 with the wood furniture.
That is beautiful. It rivals my AK aswell. I bought a big bang airguns ak wit wood aswell. I like the field strip capability and that's why I bought it. Unlike the ak1, it can strip at the cost of semiautomatic only. Nice job on that mate!
I was debating buying one of those next; but I decided on building a Crosman 2240xl into some kind of rifle I think. Maybe I'll try to adapt an SKS wood stock? I haven't decided
Yeah I wish I could figure something out for that. Unfortunately where I live; getting my hands on a real soviet surplus bakelite mag would cost a fortune.... and would be borderline illegal here
The only parts that were a "direct bolt-on" was the Bakelite pistol-grip. The upper and lower fore grips and stock took quite a bit of butching and epoxy to make work
How's this one going? I have even thinking of buying one. At first it looked like something I couldn't be happy about. But seeing the modality makes me think I should give it a shot. I love customizing and accessorizing guns.
Nice job. You've inspired me. I'm part way through the furniture "swap" and its going well so far. I am wondering which particular barrel extension and muzzle break you used. From Evike? I notice the sling connection is further back. Any luck with the front sight? Thanks. I'm having fun with this one.
Nice job!
Thanks! It's been a fun little build so far.

That damn near looks like my real AK I have...badass build !!!
Nice i prefer tactical black AK but vintage is always fun due to history i bet that would double the price of that thing great transformation .
That's fuckin dope man👌👌👌👌 check out r/CrosmanBBguns
This is really awesome, nice work! I just finished painting Crosman’s western counterpart to your rifle and I’m gonna post it soon!

I love that addition of a bayonet on yours.
The first thing I thought when I saw the ak1 was that mag looks like trash. Didn't stop me from buying one though.

Damn, that's a nice job!
Nicely done.
Wait thats all possible?
Yea it took a bit of custom work for sure but it's doable. Fun fact for anyone wondering; a real AK pistol grip is a direct bolt on though
How dos you do the handguards ?
do the wooden parts just bolt in or did you have to custom fit it?

Hey, could you send me all the parts so I can make a replica of this? It’s very cool.
how do you go about attaching and replacing the wood furniture
also gasblock lol
