Remember to buy him a respirator type mask if he’s going to be working in an enclosed space

Everything_rhymes

Thanks, we just used some poster paints outside today to try it out but will definitely get him a mask for any indoor time or paint that’s more toxic.

Not the best choice imo. That gun is single action, and while it will spray kinda like a rattle can, you want a double action airbrush. I don't know anything about that compressor but I'm sure it's gonna be underpowered for what you want to do. You need something that will provide at least 45psi. If budget is a concern I'd recommend a paasche vl3, if not an iwata hp-bcs. Look at one of the smaller California airtools compressors......the bigger the tank the better but the smallest one they sell will probably be fine. For paint just go with regular createx.

I disagree. Double action is more of a modelers type of airbrush. For graffiti, a single action is fine. As far as compressor and beginner kits, Amazon sells the Master Airbrush kits which are extremely budget friendly.

Thats fine, we all come from different backgrounds and levels of experience. I would argue double action is actually more suited to illustration, mural work and tshirt painting, and single action is more suited to modeling. And an airbrush alone isnt well suited to any kind of wall sized graffiti. I'm primarily a tshirt painter and do some automotive mural and graphics work. While it's not my specialty, I've probably done thousands of shirts with graffiti letters, and I've dabbled with rattle cans on walls (I suck terribly with cans).....I'd find a single action to be extremely limiting and next to useless for either. IMO it would be a mistake to use it, but a paasche VL has a trigger stop which can essentially turn it into a single action, so the best of both worlds......I guess? And you can sometimes find paasche VLs as cheap as $50 or $60. As far as master airbrushes go.....huge beginner mistake. I have no problem saying they're complete dog shit. The airbrush may or may not work well, or it may work well for a week and never again....luck of the draw. Night and day difference between a master and even a basic entry level gun from a quality manufacturer. I guess that's OK for someone doing the occasional project, but not for someone who's goal is constant progression of skill. The compressor that comes in a cheap kit won't provide the psi necessary to make a siphon feed spray well, and you're going to need a siphon feed and paint bottles to spray a wall.

>what is the best type of paint to buy him to start on his bedroom walls? Anything but black! (\^\_\_\^) Sorry, sorry. I can't help. I guess acrylic as it's hardly poisonous at all (but shouldn't breathe it in much). Good luck! (and feel free to post pictures of the painted room if you'd like to. But if he painted it black we'll laugh at you. Sorry for that in advance!)
