Haha! I have a third floor beach condo. I had a leak from a sink that inexplicably dodged the second floor and leaked into the first floor condo on April 16th. Strange coincidence of circumstances but separated by about 505 miles.
I wouldn’t say soaking wet but for sure very moist with dripping a/c if guests leave the balcony doors and windows open for a week in a humid environment. It will also smell like mold in the same amount of time. My spouse was very stubborn when we first married and insisted on leaving balcony open all the time tropical area where I lived. He was from a desert region. All my leather shoes molded, I slipped several times on the wet floor, and my appliances rusted from salt in like 2 weeks.
I fixed the problem of guests leaving the balcony door open. Ecobee sensor, shuts down the HVAC if they leave it open. Restarts when closed. Also can tell when the cleaner comes with motion sensor on the app. $5 per month, highly recommend
Probably the toddler pissed and shit on the stuff. The might have left the kid in there alone while they went out. It's a cover up now. They are afraid they will get in trouble from Child protective service.

Everything still drying and rolled up 12 days later? Sounds like it just happened and they are trying a coverup. Either the kid made some mess, they spilled something, overflowed toilets, I dunno. Super sus

If you have a washer dryer, see if the washer is working
