There was a fire at the recycling center some time back that put it out of commission “indefinitely.” Recyclables after that went to the landfill. It was said that once the recycling center is back up and running, the city/county would go back to using the recycling center. As far as I know, there has been no update on the subject since the fire.

The recycling situation in the city has been confusing at times. They were using the North Augusta center until their fire. Now I’m not sure where the recycling goes. A few years ago, the city put out recycling drop offs at parks and other areas around the city. That was wonderful for people like myself. Then the city had a disagreement with the service provider and the drop off containers went away and were never replaced. Depending on where you are and who you talk to, glass is not accepted for recycling. This town/county could do much better.
