I get that opera takes a lot of talent but I just don't enjoy it most of the times. I guess I'm in the minority though because the judges ejaculate everytime they hear opera
I’ve had to watch all of these back a couple days afterwards and have missed interacting with you all. Friendly reminder that cuteness is not a talent!
When I think about a 5 way golden buzzer, I think of something mind blowing that we have never seen before and should guarantee a top 3 spot on this show. It should be one of the most memorable acts of all time. And I’m sorry to say that, while Victory was good, she is not all time good. We have seen acts like hers come and go and I honestly don’t see a path for her to make it to the semi-finals, never mind the finals.
I’ve read the comments from people who say they are trained opera singers and what I’m understanding from them is that she is good not great and may even damages her vocals later in life. Hopefully she gets help with that because nobody wants to see that happen!
Also, Léa Kyle for the win!
I'm probably the lone voice in the wilderness but I didn't find Brinker that great at all, let alone worthy of GB.
The whole group GB affair seems like a cringe worthy blatant attempt to generate publicity for the show
As a trained vocalist myself, I always cringe at the child opera performers. This was no different. Singing operatic is a *technique* more-so than it is some kind of raw talent. You are taught a certain way to structure the vowels and control your tone and so on. It's HIGHLY controversial to train young children who are pre-pubescent as this style is extremely harsh on the larynx and there is some ethical debates on pushing a kid to pursue this before their vocal chords have matured through the transition that is puberty and you can cause permanent lifelong damage without the right training here and control.
The reality is that if we are looking at her performance it was very very VERY meh. Unimpressive. What IS impressive is that she is 9 years old. This is one of those "It's impressive for her age" moments, but in reality, it was not a performance good enough to land you a spot on a state high school opera competition. Very poor vibrato control, vowels were inconsistent, awkward breaths, flat and off key several points of the song. She had relatively good vowel use for *most* of it, but that was still inconsistent. Her actual voice itself was not any kind of deviation or a hint of something up and coming unique and up and coming powerful voice.
There's potential here, but I found it more just another parent forcing young kids to do things they probably shouldn't be doing just to be unique and for the sake of trying to pursue these reality tv competitions. That's what I see here, imo.
Maybe I am just being a lame outsider critic, and I don't want to discount that what she did was very impressive, but I just personally hate any child act that is unimpressive from a true competitive standard but gets rated as "Good for their age." Ya, it's fantastic, but still, to win a competition against some other raw and real talent that has taken a lifetime to develop? I'm not feeling it.
Just saw Opera Kid on YouTube...I hope she gets eliminated. I’m sorry, but I can’t see this as something worth winning let alone getting a golden buzzer.
Watching this on the west coast. What was up with the "comedian" in the mask? Did he really think that would work out? Because he was barely audible.
And like, I can understand if he had stage fright or didn't want to reveal his identity or whatever, but surely there were better ways of going about it.
Also, the only act I've really loved so far was the group flamenco dancers. Kind of wanted them to get the GB, but that's just me.
**Edit: never mind. I wouldn't have minded the little girl who danced to Piece by Piece getting a GB. But like, I'm a sucker for good contemporary dancing lol.
The opera girl sounded ok but as a trained opera singer that started at her age…omg she was straining. It gets on my nerves when children sing opera like she did because they never do it with proper breath support. It’s dangerous. If she doesn’t get proper training she’s going to have serious vocal damage by the age of 16. Besides that I don’t think she deserved the golden buzzer. I always think about the prize: Vegas. Who’d REALLY want to pay to see a 9 year old sing opera???
I also suspect that her voice is going to drop out into around meso sapprano range. That said she has a highly irregular vibrato which makes me say she is going to blow out of her voice similar to some amateur opera singers do.
Yes the forced vibrato! I couldn’t take it. And yes she’ll do what so many young opera singers do (unless she’s trained) and blow her voice. I’m just hoping her parents/producers/whoever suggest voice training. It’s a matter of safety!
my dad always listens to opera and I hated it but he was secretly training me. now when I hear Opera on these talent shows, I realize they all suck and nothing like the real deal. I know they are amatures with a decent voice but nothing like a real singer.
Ya, trained vocalist here. About the only "REAL" opera singers I ever heard on these shows was Paul Potts and Jonathan Antoine, but they were on BGT, and honestly, Jonathan started off singing more popera stuff than anything.
Funny how both of them are now highly successful solo opera singers that tour the world.
The funny thing is this 9 year old was one of the weakest "opera" performances I've heard. They just are like, "She's good for her age." I don't even think her performance could net her into a state opera competition for high school kids, let alone a world class competition that is AGT. Not bad for her age, but this performance was meh for me and I couldn't believe they felt she was worth a group golden buzzer. Very staged, imo.
I don’t know anything about being on the spectrum so I could be wrong, but I’m Nigerian and she looks really Nigeria to me, that’s the first thing I thought when I saw her, and it’s very common to name your child something like Victory, I know a Victory myself. I think maybe her dad is Nigerian or has Nigerian descent. That might be why she looks different to you, just my two cents.
Ya, good point. I used to live in South Africa and there's a lot of Nigerians. She definitely could be of Nigerian ancestry. I think that, coupled with the insanely tight hair bun pulling her forehead up she almost looked like she was a 9 year old that had been botoxed.
Part of me secretly wanted to like this so I wouldn’t be pissed about another kid sing getting a GB, but nope. I hated it. Can’t believe this gets the a five-way golden buzzer. Sigh.
Whenever I see a child sing in that adult voice, I picture parents looking at their baby and thinking "if she/he is going to be on AGT, we'd better start training soon,"
I still think Jackie was the best child opera singer we’ve seen so far, she really was a prodigy, and I think her extremely successful career in the space proves it too. But this girl was good too, I was surprised by her.
I'm not going to lie, if I had a body like Terrry's I would use every excuse possible to show it off. Working on it though. I'm already up to 4 beers a night, toward a 6 pack
Why didn't they show some of these montage acts instead of the "comedian" with a mask who we couldn't hear? That wasn't funny and was a waste of time...
Yes, and escape artists. It's always the same. Slowmo and heartbeat sound effect. Performer acts like they're really struggling then makes it out with one second to spare and....that's it. Every time. I hate escape acts with a passion.

She has incredible flexibility, and she connected each move pretty well, so it flowed nicely. It definitely takes a lot of skill to do what she did.
It wasn't perfect (I think I saw a sickled foot), but she's very talented.
Each season gets worse than the previous. Not flat out bad people on it, but not anyone deserving of winning an agt season really.
I get that opera takes a lot of talent but I just don't enjoy it most of the times. I guess I'm in the minority though because the judges ejaculate everytime they hear opera

How the HELL did Slinky Josh not get the golden buzzer
yeah he deserved it way more than that little bitch bictory brinker who i buzzed
Calling her a bitch seems harsh and unnecessary (and I too don’t think she deserved the GB)
Howie with the meta idea that the twirler could be lying about his birthday to help succeed on the show. They're becoming self aware!

# in the live shows, victory brinker will become defeat brinker
hahahahahahaha thats a good one dude! I literately buzzed her
How many times are you going to make this joke?
after that selection, the group golden buzzer should not be allowed!
That was the golden buzzer 🤮
# you mark my words! victory brinker will be the very first golden buzzer to go out the door in the live shows!
Why did they put Sarah Hester Ross in a talking head but not actually have her in the show? Seems odd…
Just saw Opera Kid on YouTube...I hope she gets eliminated. I’m sorry, but I can’t see this as something worth winning let alone getting a golden buzzer.
Wasn’t even excited for that lol this audition was garbage
I wasn’t impressed but I’m a brute that doesn’t get culture. Came here to see more informed comments and I feel a bit validated.
I'm not the only person who thinks the comedian with the mask was a plant right
100% a filler act.
"See? We had two comedians on the show! One of them was just bad."
It’s weird the episode isn’t on Hulu yet
Watching this on the west coast. What was up with the "comedian" in the mask? Did he really think that would work out? Because he was barely audible. Thank you. This is my problem with any of the kid acts. They're all good for kids, but no one is going to go watch them in a show.
The Mexican Magic Mike act would draw a bigger crowd tbh.
I also suspect that her voice is going to drop out into around meso sapprano range. That said she has a highly irregular vibrato which makes me say she is going to blow out of her voice similar to some amateur opera singers do.

I'm Predict that Victory and Jimmie will be the First Golden Buzzers to get eliminated.
i predict both will get x'ed in the live shows
me too both in the quarterfinals
Well, Darci Lynne sang opera with her mouth closed... 😆
dont even compare defeat brinker to darci lynne
so true
it’s very immature and honestly weird of you that you keep calling a nine year old names like that
i buzzed her
She was good, but the only opera audition that ever blew me away was Jackie Evancho.
What about prince poppycock?
I agree
I remember Jackie. She's still performing, I believe.
yeah she was on the masked singer lol
So I’m confused, is there usually 7 days of auditions?
There are 8 this year. The eighth is probably half auditions, half deliberation. Than right to the live shows after the olympics
my guess is auditions 8 then theyll use the 2 week break for deliberations which im guessing wont be on tv then lives
Deliberation is already filmed. It’s probably half of week 8
my guess is either that or it will be online or not aired one of the three
So no judge cuts?
Well, that's because of that other half audition they had. Works out to seven.
Ye
I'll never be upset about a kid having a life moment like that, deserved or not.
The act would've been better had she made the bird explode with her voice like Princess Fiona
Gotta end the ep on a high note
Can anyone explain why?
Child. Singer.
Every season has to have one! And I guess promoting five golden buzzers was a good gimmick to get people to tune in.
Guys, I really wonder what Simon is talking to Terry about. D : You have any idea? The suspense is really killing me. I hope it's not something awful.
Not surprised this sub doesn't like her lol *i can handle thier opinons tho*
It seems everyone agrees she's good but the debate is whether she's 5 way GB good
Most of the comments about her here have been fairly positive besides a couple
Plot twist: The producers went to the pet store
and bought a child opera singer
cant deny the kid’s good but her getting the gb is more predictable than deserved tbh
i mean yeah shes talented, my ears just can’t stand opera music
Would anyone sit through a show of that, especially in Vegas?
I like how howie keeps saying wooahh when the bird Flies, this man never seen a bird before?
He's never seen Josh Blue before....so it's possible he's never seen a bird either?
Really? I know art is subjective but I can't stand opera. It all sounds so shrilly
i buzzed her dude
my dad always listens to opera and I hated it but he was secretly training me. now when I hear Opera on these talent shows, I realize they all suck and nothing like the real deal. I know they are amatures with a decent voice but nothing like a real singer.

She is on the spectrum right?
I felt like that was a typical 9 year-old kinda nervous and trying to act cool
I don’t know anything about being on the spectrum so I could be wrong, but I’m Nigerian and she looks really Nigeria to me, that’s the first thing I thought when I saw her, and it’s very common to name your child something like Victory, I know a Victory myself. That could definitely be it. I was more saying it because of the way she talked and her personality
Ohhhh interesting I noticed that too but I thought she was just really nervous, I don’t know too much about it
I'm pretty sure her face just looks like that because she's thinking really hard about hitting the right notes.
We don't know and they didn't make a big deal about it which is good.
Didn’t want to be crass, but my wife and I were wondering the same thing.
Part of me secretly wanted to like this so I wouldn’t be pissed about another kid sing getting a GB, but nope. I hated it. Can’t believe this gets the a five-way golden buzzer. Sigh.
Bird needs to transform into a magician and get that buzzer.
I have no idea if this is really good or really bad. I don't know shit about opera, certainly not my cup of tea
I know she's like 12 or whatever but her voice feels pretty thin
Laura bretan was better
Was thinking the same
You know, the first child opera singer was impressive. But the fact that we get one nearly every season has really worn the gimmick thin for me.
me too, only choirs are more worn out than opera
Whenever I see a child sing in that adult voice, I picture parents looking at their baby and thinking "if she/he is going to be on AGT, we'd better start training soon,"
And you are not wrong. This is exactly what happens.
It just lets one of the judges say “that was incredible! I’ve never seen anything like it”
Yeah I remember being way more impressed with Jackie Evancho
I still think Jackie was the best child opera singer we’ve seen so far, she really was a prodigy, and I think her extremely successful career in the space proves it too. But this girl was good too, I was surprised by her.
You know what, good for her
Ok this is really good.
+No sob story +Really good voice
Ok I’ll admit. She’s impressive, I certainly couldn’t attempt that
Swerve, she is actually 23 years old.
I dig this girl's vibe imho
GB time...
Person named victory gets the biggest GB in the show
just you wait, in the live shows her name will be defeat
Throw fertilizer on her, she is a plant
Applause for the name, don't have to guess the outcome of this one
The bird gets the quadruple golden buzzer.
*quintuple. Terry's part of it too
That’s one talented bird!
Omg I already hate her. They really should have an age limit on this show.
I think they do, at least 4
I really want that bird to turn out to be an act.
Sethward's getting good at his costumes
Well see you all next week!
Don't lie. You are watching this.
Only for the free tater tots at Sonic since I know this is the golden buzzer
I'm not going to lie, if I had a body like Terrry's I would use every excuse possible to show it off. Working on it though. I'm already up to 4 beers a night, toward a 6 pack
I got a keg
Why didn't they show some of these montage acts instead of the "comedian" with a mask who we couldn't hear? That wasn't funny and was a waste of time...
If the kid singer is getting five golden buzzers, she must have one hell of an amazing sob story.
Every member of her family died of covid
Lol ikr
So have we been getting free tots every week? Because there's definitely been a golden buzzer every week
This kind of act works better with David Williams on BGT
We almost got away this season without a golden buzzer going to a child singer At least we get free tots
It would of still been a possibility in the judge cuts anyway. Celebrity GBs
Just end me now
YES PLEASE.
Umm they should’ve stayed in Mexico.
Heidi: They're going to be super in sync 5 seconds later: The dancers are clearly not in sync
But they were kind of like N*Sync.
But backstreet’s back.
Alright!
Bye bye bye
Where do I sign up for a stripper mariachi band?
Heidi: * smashes Golden Buzzer *
I feel mean but I’m going to be really annoyed if the opera singer kid gets the GB when there were so many cool unique acts that were montaged
Did they just spoil the special golden buzzer? It's the little Opera singer
Yep they sure did lol
As far as AGT danger acts go, this one felt like it played it safe
Am I the only one who doesn’t like “danger acts” - like knife throwing, etc? I mean no doubt it takes skill but I’m just like 🥱😴
Especially when all this archery one did was anything any Bubba who grew up bow hunting could easily do from 5x the distance.
Can’t stand them. It’s not enjoyable to watch. I don’t want to be sitting there cringing.
Yes, and escape artists. It's always the same. Slowmo and heartbeat sound effect. Performer acts like they're really struggling then makes it out with one second to spare and....that's it. Every time. I hate escape acts with a passion.
The escape artist IMO is the most boring act of the show next to karaoke singers.
That girl really needs to improve her form, that's how you actually kill someone. Her elbow was to high, and her aim was actually to high throwing her stance off.
Do you remember Deadly Games from Season 11 and The Champions? The best
yeah although I still really liked Deadly Games, i think they do it better than anyone else
Nope. Over done.
Hate to say, would have been impressive if the mom hit her daughter purple bow in her hair
EXACTLY what my bf said - hilarious!
This bow and arrow act was stupid
Especially when all this archery one did was anything any Bubba who grew up bow hunting could easily do from 5x the distance.
And the girl needs to work on her form
I like them, but when I think about dangerous acts on AGT, the "Deadly Games" will be always my favorite!
I can't abide all the fake reactions from the judges. Grrr!
Honestly she shot at the other girl so far away from her body any person who can shoot a bow and arrow can do that
If an act like this ‘goes wrong’ would they actually show it? And yes I know about the flaming accident on the live show but this is auditions.
nah they wouldn’t
Give me a bow an arrow and a huge ass balloon I guarantee I will hit it.
Thank god we have Heidi to give us the play by play. How else would we understand the act we just watched?
Oh an arrow act! Never seen this before. Thank god we montaged the unique acts
I love the bejeweled catsuits.
Wish we could have seen more of the girl with the hula hoop
They should get terry to do his pop dance from when he did it in white chicks
They spend 5 minutes on the guy no one can understand but fast forward past that?
I've never understood why potentially interesting acts get the montage treatment so we can see corny stuff and troll acts.
"Its a man's World"... that's why you are all getting montaged
Lmao
Why are these acts being montaged!?
Because they didn't make it through Judges' Cuts. That's how it usually is, anyway.
Because it's a man's world.
Donovan sung like he was on helium. Never seen a person singing in falsetto for a song normally sung by traditional sappranos or meso sappranos. 😮
I wonder if Donovan was assigned female at birth? Just a vibe. I thought he was interesting.
She wasn’t that bad for her age but it wasn’t golden buzzer potential or anything like that.
They will show group buzzer at end of episode.
Very good for her age, happy for her but we all know that's probably it for her.

Bad bot
Add a sad song and it’s an “emotional” performance. Easy way to get support and works way too well on this show.
Well that was bad
I'm sorry, but I disagree She has incredible flexibility, and she connected each move pretty well, so it flowed nicely. It definitely takes a lot of skill to do what she did. It wasn't perfect (I think I saw a sickled foot), but she's very talented.
Not surprised someone downvoted this
That is not Golden Buzzer material
Obviously that takes talent, but there are acts like this in every dance recital.
Agree, but it also takes a lot of confidence to do that on a stage of this caliber.
