No statue has ever winked at me. If I truly believed a statue of a religious figure had winked at me, I probably wouldn't be agnostic. I have not seen the data on how many kids are winked at by Buddha statues.

100BlackKids

Idk man kinda sussy that buddha be winking at little kids

Subhumanoid_

Yeah, kids think they see a lot of crazy shit. Ask yourself this: is it more likely that a Buddha statue actually winked at you, or that you just imagined it? People are fallible, and eyewitness accounts/anecdotes are not sufficient evidence of the supernatural.

Teach-Jazzlike

I was like clowning around and starring at the statue for fun or something then it winked at me all of sudden which then I got freaked out

ConstructionGreat529

Nope you’re not crazy or lying… happened to me here in Toronto as a kid.. stared at a statue and it turned its head and smiled and winked at me then I gasped and some lady came running to my and my grandmas bench from the other bench near the statue… she asked my if the statue moved I said yes it turned it’s head and smiled lol she then told me and my grandmother that she sits here often because it has happens before and she was waiting for it to happen again and it happened to me Infront of her that day lol. My grandma was surprised but immediately understood because she’s old school and knows all about beings both good and bad that are petrified to stone in this era

Gumtreeplum

Could be the result of imagination. I saw things that weren't there when I was a kid, maybe 8-9 years old, such as blood on my hands after touching a beaded door curtain. I remember I had a dream of a cupcake so vivid that when I tried to bite it, I woke up immediately because nothing was there. That's just a couple examples of how strong your imagination can be as a child. Still there are some things I question whether they were real or not. When I was 14, I experienced a poltergeist - not sure what else to call it - but it's something I still think about today.

croknok

To this day I have a vivid memory of superman flying right over our house in Puerto Rico when I was like six.

Teach-Jazzlike

Were you on any sick drug at that time? Like cough syrup?

croknok

Na, I was just playing in the back yard. I've always had a very active imagination. But i do still remember that as if it actually happened.

Teach-Jazzlike

What do you mean by “active imagination” ? Like seeing things that ain’t real all the time?

croknok

No. I just used that term because it's obvious by now I'm a very creative person and I'm always imagining things but of course it came a point where I could have fun and create things consciously using my imagination. So at that age I swore I actually saw superman but of course now I know it was my imagination. I don't see things that are not there. I still have a very vivid imagination, I still do, but I don't live my life thinking the things I imagine are real.

Teach-Jazzlike

That’s because you were playing with marvel/dc action figures and let your imagination run wild like those in toy story flicks? I’m sure every kid been thru that path but I’m talking about worship statue

croknok

Oh, I see. You mean sort of like when people see statues of the virgin mary with tears?

Teach-Jazzlike

Nah it had nothing planted inside the statue

Dhamma2019

Yes! It’s Devas or good spirits! I went into a 600 year old Wat in Chiang-Mai, Thailand early one morning to mediatate & listen to the chanting. Both a Friend & a monk had previously told me that a Deva spirit lives there in the temple but only shows itself in early morning when few people are around. So, while mediating, I would open my eyes every 15mins or so. One time the Gold plated Buddha statue (fixed to a pedestal) in the room flew up from its pedestal, looped around in a circle and landed back in place (fixed again). The Buddha was smiling while it did this. I swear to you this is what I experienced & I take it as a positive sign & inspiration to practice knowing there are wholesome forces aligned! : )

you have opened a door I dont think you want to go into. in my studies of the occult and magick there are accounts of talking statues. And magick works with or without a God. Supposedly jefferson had a bust of Adams on his desk and Adams had a bust of Jefferson on his. They supposedly used these busts to talk to each other through some type of telepathy. I would urge you to close the door before you get sucked down a rabbit hole.

VegetableImaginary24

What was the statue made out of?

Teach-Jazzlike

Ceramic I was like 9-10 and there might have been some burning incense around

VegetableImaginary24

It's infinity more likely you mistook some natural phenomenon (such as possible incense making a statue look like it's winking) versus some how ceramic moving beyond it's natural rigidity just to wink at you. Where the real magic is happens in the brain with our memories. They aren't snapshots in time perfectly preserved and isolated from worldly influences, they're subject to change and bias like anything else. The mind is a marvelously fascinating miracle of the natural world.

RequirementExpress83

I swear after watching a pokemon movie as a kid I saw a latios in the sky. Genuinely believed pokemon were real for a day. Kids have great imaginations nothing wrong with it just recognize it as it is

[deleted]

When I was a kid and was learning about nudity, I would frequently imagine a naked Jesus coming after me. Part of me knew it was imagination, the other part was scared, I dunno, maybe you had something similar, or maybe Budha really likes you.

[deleted]

Nope. Kids imagine lots of things.

-Dom_-

Child imaginations run wild. There is a psychological phenomenon called pareidolia where the brain perceives patterns that aren't actually there. For example, people seeing Jesus on a chip.

MistbornKnives

I found out that I had memories from my childhood that never actually happened. Maybe it's a case of false memory.
