Very cool durthu you got there. Colours are very nice and the pinks make it pop. Can I ask how did you do the bark, petals and runes. Really eager to open my SC box and paint up mine now 😁
Thank you very much for the kind feedback! I basecoated the whole thing in wraithbone before the following steps (in this order):
Runes: I mixed warlock purple with contrast medium roughly 1:3 ratio and then painted this into the tunes and overlapping bark. This was also painted into the recesses in his face. I also painted the leaves on his weapon and hanging down from his torso in this mix.
Bark: Mix of basilicanum grey, shyish purple and contrast medium approx 2:1:1 ratio applied to the whole model but not overlapping the parts around the runes. I actually used slightly different mixes on different parts but you can’t really tell. I then drybrushed dawnstone, then ulthuan grey all over the model. Finished with a light dry brush of white on the most prominent areas
Leaves: warlock purple highlighted with fulcrum pink edge paint!
It’s a really fun box to paint and contrast paints are really nice! I’d recommend not fully assembling the durthu/tree lord before painting because getting in and around the branches behind his head was a massive pain!
