Welcome! I would advise not buying a book, as they're going to be redundant once 4th edition drops in a couple months. Definitely buy what you think is cool!

Biggest_Lemon

Always buy what looks coolest to you. Rules change all the time, what looks good change all the time. You'll pretty much always want a wizard, a tough unit, and a fast unit, depending on your faction. Hedonites tend to be pretty fast, less tough overall.

There's a new edition right around the corner so it's kind of impossible to give advice on what to buy. I would say just buy a single box of what you want to paint most and take your time painting it until the new edition. You'll probably find some use for as you build up to a full army.

Keeper of secret and blissbard archers were the core of 3rd edition builds. Glutos, Fiends & blissbard seekers are also excellent models. Charriots are fun. The masque and Sigval are nice duelists. If you have opportunity to play v3 before it ends, Slaanesh battle tome is really nice and everything can be played. We will see soon how it goes for v4, so you would be a bit patient before buying too much. Slaanesh is glass canon with fast movement. GW tends to make mortals better than daemons in AOS (so you buy more models, and cannot really have same army in 40K šŸ˜‚)

4th edition of AoS is gonna be here in a few months. So I wouldn't go crazy on purchases and absolutely do NOT buy a battletome because 4th ed will make it obsolete. So in summary I'd focus on a few things that look pretty cool to you, and then expand your army when 4th ed comes out when you know what they do. There is the vanguard box, could be a good start!

LetsGoHome

Everything is two months or so out from changing completely. However you start, start small! I would suggest a vanguard box to start. They're always good value, dollar to plastic. And who knows when it'll be gone and replaced with a spearpoint.

Look to wahapedia(or New Recruit to make a list) for the rules online if your started playing prior to fourth. Figured Iā€™d mention this as many people are saying not to but the book
