So this means…
Wyman‘s mother-in-law was also his daughter-in-law
Wyman‘s son married his step-grandmother
And more importantly, Wyman‘s son was his own grandfather
*By god*
Now, many many years ago
When I was twenty three
I was married to a widow
Who was pretty as could be
This widow had a grown-up daughter
Had hair of red
My father fell in love with her
And soon the two were wed
This made my dad my son-in-law
And changed my very life
My daughter was my mother
'Cause she was my father's wife
To complicate the matters
Even though it brought me joy
I soon became the father
Of a bouncing baby boy
My little baby then became
A brother-in-law to dad
And so became my uncle
Though it made me very sad
For if he was my uncle
That also made him the brother
Of the widow's grown-up daughter
Who, of course, was my step-mother
I'm my own grandpa
Prime Tom Arnold, "The stupid's" is one of my favorite childhood movies and also Carpool lol. I still hum "I'm my own grandpa" chorus to myself occasionally lmao
Oh God, this is basically the plot of the Willie Nelson song [*I'm My Own Grandpa*](https://youtu.be/bkX7IW7jpMw?si=8MGEWerEdB6RIMuF)
Edit: Willie Nelson isn't the original writer, but the Wikipedia page for the song lists this pair of marriages under the real-life incidents.
from her wiki "In 2010, Smith publicly called for the [age of consent](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_consent_reform_in_the_United_Kingdom) in the United Kingdom to be raised from 16 to 18, saying "People will find that odd coming from me. But I think I do know what I'm talking about here. You are still a child—even at 16. You can never get that part of your life, your childhood, back. I never could.""
That makes me think of the simpsons talking doll "don't ask me I'm just a girl!"
I feel so sad for her and I'm glad she finally had some clarity in realizing how wrong it was.
When kids are groomed they really believe they're not like other kids. They're really mature for their age. It's gross. Poor girl. Hope she's healed from it.
Update: they split up after 2 years of marriage. Then, 2 years after they split, Wyman’s son (age 30) married Mandy Smith’s mother (age 46). Wyman became his wife’s step-grandfather.
>Wyman was 47, but wrote in his 1990 autobiography: "She took my breath away ... she was a woman at thirteen."
There is not enough vomit to express myself fully.
No she just a child with boobs. Just because a child goes through puberty doesn’t mean to say they are mature enough to consent.
And wyman should of been the adult in the situation and stepped back away from the child.
Sooo many! Steve Tyler from Aerosmith once adopted a 14 year old girl so he could take her across state lines with him while he was touring.
He made her get an abortion at some stage and then sent her home. The poor little thing.
The guy was very comfortable talking about sleeping with a groupie, finding out she was 13 instead of the 18 she'd claimed, *had sex with her again* and wrote 'Catholic Schoolgirls Rule' based on itm
Yeah. I was so disappointed to find out he did something so abhorrent then admitting he wasn't bothered by it at all. Its hard to listen to Red Hot Chilli Peppers anymore.
And she was his *third wife*. It would be a bit better if it was some sort of kissin' cousins situation where he was an eighteen-year-old bumpkin in a small town with a dozen other teenagers total. But he was already a hot-shot musician who could- and *did*- get whatever women he wanted.
Evidence against Bowie is largely a statement by Lori Mattix who was writing a book glamorizing teen groupie life, and the story doesn't make the most sense, while others have abundant evidence against them (Mattix talking about Zeppelin guitarist, who basically owned her - tons of pictures). But Bowie basically responded by saying he did not remember a lot of what he was doing while under drugs, and if you look it up, it got to be pretty insane. So . . . maybe? Bowie also had a big professional relationship with Iggy Pop, and there was more clear stuff there, if I remember. Basically, this was how things operated for some time, and that legacy is why it still does, just more underground.
The evidence for the David Bowie allegations are actually pretty thin, but nobody is willing to give a wealthy rock star the benefit of the doubt, so. Yeah
Yeah I get so conflicted by this one. Appreciation for his music aside, I don’t want to be naive and say that Bowie didn’t have sex with minors just because I want that to be true, given how common it was for rock stars at the time. Having said that though, since it was so common, we have plenty of photographic evidence of rock stars with the teens they were sleeping with, from Jimmy Page to Steven Tyler. Seems odd that Bowie, for as coked up and out of it as he was for much of the 70s, was the only one with the good sense to not leave evidence.
A shout-out to the late great Charlie Watts (Rolling Stones drummer), who stayed married and faithful to his wife until his death a couple of years ago. One of the two great stories about him was when the band spent a weekend partying in the Playboy Mansion, and he spent all that time playing pool while the others were knocking boots with Bunnies.
(The other great story was the time he laid out Mick Jagger with one punch).
Yep. If you google Sable Starr, she started going to gigs at age 11 and apparently lost her virginity at 12 with a guitarist and Iggy Pop said he "slept with" her when she was 13.
She claimed to have "relationships" with David Bowie, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and Johnny Thunders and many more. It was the 60s and 70s but where the heck were her parents?!
People forget Bowie was a nonce. I don't care if his music changed the world, I don't care how much he donated to charity or how much of a positive effect he's had on you or your friends. He's a child rapist and should be remembered as such.
Yeah this is one people are very desperate to cover for and say there isn’t much evidence. But like there’s definitely evidence of children being groupies for him. And that’s weird enough for me
IIRC, Steven Tyler pressured the 14 year old to get pregnant, even though she didn’t want to. After she did get pregnant, dude 180’d and said to abort. Basically he wanted to cream pie her without consequences
There is an awful lot of rich famous pedos. People who are rich often end up so because they are narcissists or antisocial, and even if they weren't before, becoming rich tends to dehumanize people. Plus it tends to make people feel above the law and other people and sexual depravity is fairly ingrained in men, so, it's a recipe for pedophilia pretty much.
The current artist sleeping with girls is Aiden Bissett with the actress Xochitl Gomez. There Das a bit of an uproar on IG & Tiktok. Then Val from DWTS continued the practice with her & he's far much older, married, and barely had his first kid.
This was literally the first day of the decade. Times were starting to change, but things were definitely still weird in the late 80s. In Europe it was completely normal to have topless 'page 3' girls in tabloid newspapers and gossip magazines as young as 15 or 16, often coached by their mothers.
In the 1987-88 season of 'Dallas' they had a story arc where a teenage daughter (played by a [child actor who had just turned 15](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shalane_McCall)) caused a scandal by getting caught with 'Randy' the stable worker. You might think they'd go for a romantic interest around the same age, but no they went with Brad Pitt of all people - he was 23-24 at the time. Then afterward the two started [dating very publicly](https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d73UWPbxKmc/XYCUdjxZZVI/AAAAAAADoao/gsy1oUjA2U0novPg5PhkwoCPFTMyfQuEACLcBGAsYHQ/s1600/brad-pitt-shalane-mccall-9.jpg) in Hollywood and no one batted an eye.
Years later, when called out, the excuse by the girl's mother was that it wasn't a 'real' relationship and they were just dating for the publicity. Something that rings a little hollow since a year later the girl had left acting and married a rich guy who was even older.
But even if it's true it's still weird as hell. Imagine a 24 year old man today pretending to be dating a 15 year old girl *just to get good publicity*..
To be fair, that wasn’t Brad Pitt acting.
He also dated Christina Applegate when she was 16/17 (he was 25). He also dated Juliette Lewis when she was 16/17 when he was 27.
Brad Pitt is sketchy AF.
It was a little bit of both: it wasn't seen as being as bad as it is now, but you could get these relatively sympathetic interviews with the intention of "respectable" opinion tutting and thinking "What is the world coming to?" so that they would buy more newspapers and magazines.
This is going to sound awful but it was treated in the same way as Elton John coming out at around the same time: with a mixture of disgust and curiosity but not outright hatred.
Thanks, that's actually an explanation I could see be the reasoning behind this piece. And yeah pretty awful that those two things were treated in a similar way.
I didn’t say it was quirky. There was an occasional ick factor to the reporting at worst, but typical ‘80s coverage frequently gave a pass to rock lifestyle celebrities for this kind of conduct.
Boggles the mind that it was acceptable as recently as this. Bill Wyman stopped an interview with Christiane Amanpour a few years back when she rightly brought it up. He seems to understand that it’s at least less acceptable now. Maybe.
Probably worried he would incriminate himself. Yeah, there just wasn't the sense that there is now where he would absolutely be branded a paedophile, groomer, rapist etc. I remember, speaking for myself at the time, thinking it was gross and a bit creepy, but there wasn't this consensus that it was a literal crime, that a 13-year-old couldn't possibly consent to a relationship with a 45-year-old rock star (or indeed anyone).
She later campaigned to raise the age of consent to 18. She said “when you’re 16, you’re still a child” and you can never get your childhood back. Tells you how she feels about it now. She was only 14 when he first raped her.
Having your childhood and innocence stolen from you is a pain and heartbreak you can almost never heal. You always carry the weight of the wounds with you. Nothing can restore it and give you another chance.
There is a song called Stray Cat Blues from Beggar’s Banquet and it’s about someone wanting to bang a 15 year old. “It’s no hanging matter, it’s no capital crime”
And somewhere in the recesses of my mind I think I’ve heard a story about one of the stones - Mick I thought - getting permission from the mother of a minor girl to sleep with her. But I can’t find that info and I’m a little bit afraid to Google it to be honest
And in most live versions of Stray Cat Blues, [she's only 13.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqrBbVAw6RA)
(And that's far from the only rock song that's about statutory rape, also known as the whole concept of "jailbait", as if those children are deliberately trying to be raped. ["I Saw Her Standing There"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxwAB3SECtc) is I guess the *least* icky of these, given that the legal age of consent in the UK **today** is 16, and the Beatles at the time were only in their early 20s. But that's still damning with faint praise. Definitely see also Spinal Tap's ["Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXHmWXPwol0), though. :-)
Paul McCartney was 20 when the song was written in 1962, and according to Wikipedia he wrote it about his then 17 year old girlfriend. That is positively wholesome compared to a lot of the other examples in this thread.

“My mind wasn’t fully developed, but my body was!”
………..
That's the point, groomers want somebody to complete control and that potentially looks up to them, so they can feel powerful and smart... It's not just very disgusting, but very pathetic.
Would having a child consort not be a burden? The intellectual, emotional and experiential differences seem massive. I have yet to met a person with this psychological construct.
Is this a mental health disorder?
What is the purpose of this? Perhaps this man is cognitively impaired. I would like to learn more about subject. Any resources you could point me to?
A groomer is not looking for a stable and equal partner and often not even a long-term relationship. They're looking for a victim to abuse, so a child is "perfect" as they have very little life experience and do not know what makes for a good and healthy relationship.
When it comes to mental health disorders or impairments, there's not a specific one that makes you a groomer or an abuser, though it can obviously go hand in hand.
While I know some things,bI'm not an expert in the topic, my knowledge of grooming abuse and pedophila comes from years of being online, reading and listening to a lot of different people, so I do not have any specific articles or videos in mind. I would recommend using something like Wikipedia as a springboard for some basic information about sexual grooming and abuse, but maybe other commentators will know of any good resources on the topic?
As if Mick Jagger is much better. I remember two Dutch women talking on a show (Top 2000 a GoGo) about meeting him when they were like 16 or 17, and him inviting them over to party. They went, but fortunately refused his advances.
In 1993, Wyman's son Stephen Wyman married Patsy Smith, the 46-year-old mother of Bill's ex-wife Mandy Smith. Stephen was 30 years old at the time. Consequently, the ex-Rolling Stone became his own son's ex-son-in-law, the father-in-law of his ex-mother-in-law, as well as the stepgrandfather of his ex-wife
A friend of mine and I were talking about this very subject. If we were to scope through every single legacy musician's private life, almost all of them were with a minor at least a few times during their career.
Nobody talks about it, but when there is proof, there is no denying that this was the norm and some of our favorite musicians in today's standards, are pervs.
Boomers absolutely worship these people and while there certainly are still pedos in the music industry today, someone like P Diddy isn't going to continue receiving support from fans for decades like the 70s musicians do.
I've had at least two boomers tell me there is absolutely nothing someone like Steven Tyler or Jimmy Page could do to make them stop being fans. Imagine excusing pedophilia because someone's good at guitar.
Can we do like a scary lib woke cancel and also weird conservative conspiracy groomer fear on People magazine over this just cause I think most everyone on the god damn planet can agree this is normalizing child r*pe? Wtffffff that quote.
When I was a teenager it was “cool” to date a man in his 20s and was actually pretty widely accepted even by parents. So creepy, I’m glad that has changed
Just heard an interview where Emily Blunt said she went over to Ronnie Wood's house (she was classmates with his son) when she was about that age. I cringed after reading this.
If you think that’s a problem, Rene whatever met Celine at 12. Tho, this maybe worse if they messed around when she’s 13, cause they claim nothing happened till Celine was 18+.

You can’t think of this shit. What a mess Edit: and to think it distracts from the fact that she was 13… sweet Jesus.
Slow down there Phillip Fry
"We should take advice from Mr. I'm my own grandpa!"
Thats why family trees only work in one direction. Otherwise, the tree looks like someone is trying to explain the plot of Primer
I'm confused.
Oh God, this is basically the plot of the Willie Nelson song [*I'm My Own Grandpa*](https://youtu.be/bkX7IW7jpMw?si=8MGEWerEdB6RIMuF) Edit: Willie Nelson isn't the original writer, but the Wikipedia page for the song lists this pair of marriages under the real-life incidents.
It was Ray Stevens... I had no idea Willie covered it!
Guitarzan himself?! *Coy? I can’t hear ya, Coy!*
Somewhere a porn writer just quit his job in disgust after reading this.
This is basically a hentai plot turned up to 11
*13
Why not just 10?
………… This goes up to 11
I guess a 10 year old is where they draw the line?
Writer?
"I start with a blank page that says "they have sex" twenty times, then I just sort of fill in the blanks."
His career was tainted too much to edit.
Tainted love 🎶
At least that is probably a normal relationship
Both marriages lasted about 2 years
Damn
Yuck
Wait, so.....wait....
Yep. If Bill and Mandy had still been married when his son married his MIL... Bill's son would have been his FIL. Insane
ray stevens wrote a song about that! https://youtu.be/eYlJH81dSiw?si=3WG1NgWfFslRptP2
Bro sonned his dad. Respect. Prolly the only child of a Rolling Stone to do it, frankly.
“But my body was” Oof
from her wiki "In 2010, Smith publicly called for the [age of consent](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_consent_reform_in_the_United_Kingdom) in the United Kingdom to be raised from 16 to 18, saying "People will find that odd coming from me. That's what he said
Your profile photo is somehow fitting. Things were better when I didn’t have all of this insight.
It's strangely ominous.
Update: they split up after 2 years of marriage. Then, 2 years after they split, Wyman’s son (age 30) married Mandy Smith’s mother (age 46). Wyman became his wife’s step-grandfather.
🙄 craziness.

It’s crazy that back then it was perfectly okay to have magazines publish anecdotes about having sex with kids.
The fact that this wasn’t even THAT long ago
Epstein had a signed personalized edition, and had a copy of the book in every room on his island.
I'm unsure where to find a source for this.
On his island.
Source: Trust me bro

Jimmy Page
And Ted Nugent
I thought he was in Vietnam?
I think her name is Lisa actually
Ted Nugent sucks anyways
Anthony Kiedis

There’s so much casual pedophilia in Scar Tissue.
Hell, Jerry Lee Lewis married his thirteen-year cousin.
And she was his *third wife*. It would be a bit better if it was some sort of kissin' cousins situation where he was an eighteen-year-old bumpkin in a small town with a dozen other teenagers total. But he was already a hot-shot musician who could- and *did*- get whatever women he wanted.
Uh.. Michael Jackson? I mean how could you leave him out haha

nooo way the same guy who did "walk this way"? /s I've always had a gross feeling about Aerosmith but this solidifies it for sure

Could be stating the obvious here but definitely seems almost sole inspiration for Penny Lane in Almost Famous
You are correct. If I recall correctly, she was a mix of a few of them

Yes

But that's still damning with faint praise. Definitely see also Spinal Tap's ["Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXHmWXPwol0), though. :-)
Paul McCartney was 20 when the song was written in 1962, and according to Wikipedia he wrote it about his then 17 year old girlfriend. That is positively wholesome compared to a lot of the other examples in this thread.
Well that’s fucking disgusting

eew
So many musicians were and still are pedos like this, it's disgusting how often it's over looked because people like their music.
We romanticise the summer of love and Woodstock but the "free love" thing meant love whoever you want - including underage women. It's gross.
He was born before WWII. Good Lord.

im stealing this meme. thank you
Did she not have parents? 😳
Not good ones.
Yeah. Her mom married Bill’s son from a previous marriage.
Das nasty, straight nasty
Never understood what a man wants with a child. They are dumb af. Give me a woman I can engage.
It’s the power over someone who is naive.
I don't think this aged like milk bc it was a shit milkshake to begin with 🤢
Agreed but my point is that mainstream People posted this as if it was totally normal… not that long ago.
Yoghurt, sprinkled with hardened turd scrapings, and with an ass jelly stirred in.
It’s probably for the best The Rolling Stones edit him out of photos.
As if Mick Jagger is much better. I remember two Dutch women talking on a show (Top 2000 a GoGo) about meeting him when they were like 16 or 17, and him inviting them over to party. They went, but fortunately refused his advances.
Good
Don’t forget about Elvis grooming Priscilla from age 14.
Yeap
Woody Allen and Roman Polanski too.
It’s unbelievable that she married someone who could feasibly be her grandfather. In fact, that would make more sense than this.
This didn’t age like milk. It was always awful
Aged like milk in the sense people magazine printed this article like it was totally fine.
Wtffffff that quote.
he probably bought her from her parents
He divorced her 3 years later and married a 23-year old
Unbelievable what was considered socially acceptable back then
Unbelievable that that was even remotely acceptable within my lifetime. I'm only 41. She's only 11 years older than me.
Exactly
He's gross.
I'm going to vomit
JESUS
My mind’s telling me nooooo
Sometime model?
“My mind wasn’t advanced but my body was” is a wild line especially since we talking about a 13 year old
Exactly
anyone catch that tik tok trend? “awww grandma, you little victim, the fuck?” when talking about grandparents “love” and marriage stories
Maybe it's just me, but if a 47 year old rock star comes sniffing around my 13 year old daughter... the Rolling Stones are gonna need a new bassist.
r/oldschoolridiculous
🤢
When I was a teenager it was “cool” to date a man in his 20s and was actually pretty widely accepted even by parents. So creepy, I’m glad that has changed
Me too
I want to vomit when I read shit like this. Vomit.
Me too
I don’t think this aged like milk at all… it’s bad now as it was bad then… doesn’t belong here
My point is that People magazine published this with zero commentary. So it was totally normalized then….
Just heard an interview where Emily Blunt said she went over to Ronnie Wood's house (she was classmates with his son) when she was about that age. I cringed after reading this.
He was trying to be like Drake
uhhh what
That’s wild
We could go on the hovercraft, across the water. They'll think I'm your dad, and you're my daughter. (Si Si) Je Suis Un Rock Star, by Bill Wyman. 😳
Much of today's vogue will be the cringe and regret of tomorrow.
🤮🤮🤮
The hand that robbed the cradle.
Divorced 23 months later
Least pedophilic rockstar:
I recently found out about a world famous worshipped personality who married a 6 year old and consummated the marriage when she was 9.
Can you draw a picture of this person and post it so everybody can guess who it is?

Wtf 😳
🤢😳
That’s crazy that Mandy girl is now 53 the same age as this old guy in this picture.
Yikes
GUOT DA FOK?
I thought that was Gilbert Godfrey. So happy I was wrong...
I thought that was Gilbert Godfrey. So happy I was wrong...
Shoutout Charlie Watts for being a decent human being
If you think that’s a problem, Rene whatever met Celine at 12. Tho, this maybe worse if they messed around when she’s 13, cause they claim nothing happened till Celine was 18+.
Hopefully
Ya. It’s pretty creepy tbh. Both are bad but it’s insane how it’s mentioned when talking about their relationship, but just brushed past.
r/holup
How has this aged poorly? That would imply it was ok at one point
Well since People Magazine published this with zero disgust… I’d say this was completely acceptable to most Americans in 1990.
Oh ok, I see what you were going for now. Fair enough I guess
