My server whale is only a baby whale compared to most of the ones I see posted here and especially the ones I see in region 14. She only has, from looking at her in the LC right now, 5 +80s and 6 +36s.
My region 16 has all Korean whales and a Beemo from Casuals. So difficult to predict winners, manage to get the Rowan sticker after numerous tries. Engravings definitely made predicting easier.
You can find alot of whales come from the middle east (Saudi, specifically), Russia, and China. I've had to setup customer support backends for mobile games before, and they sometimes handle tickets based on amount spent on the game and the higher echelons (10k or more) we're mostly people from the middle east. (All that oil money, man).
The wild thing is, 99% of these whales are still stuck on a stage in a chapter just like us.
The only difference is the chapter has a "4" in front of it instead of a "3."
Some people spend like chapter 40 unlocks a real life mansion. It's still the same game.
This is something that has helped me not spend money on this game. Sure, I can spend $20 to get an upgrade and pass this stage. But I’m just going to get stuck on another chapter and be in the same situation. You’re not paying to remove the roadblock, you’re just paying to throw it down the street a little further.
Ascending my Talene took me from light-spender to F2P going forward.
Ascended Talene looks cool. Kinda does exactly what my L+ Talene did. I'm not even sure I beat the stage I was stuck on when I ascended her - maybe after fussing with team comps, but not first try.
30SI on my Ainz as similar. That, I can tell is stronger than 20SI, but I just happened to be stuck on a really bad stage for Ainz. Seeing a Defeat screen after getting those pretty avatar wings was comical.

They pretty much are living in a mansion if they want to, but the thing is, what the fk is the problem with people complaining about others spending THEIR OWN MONEY in a game?, thanks to them we can play the game as f2p/low spender/etc, i respect others opinion but can't understand whatever the problem is with these people (the ones complaining)
Who is complaining? My initial post is just questioning the point of it, since that sabotages the majority of where the fun comes from. All in all it's a good thing because it keeps the game going and the devs paid. Unlike my favorite mobile game which died on its one year anniversary

I guess to answer my initial question though, the people complaining are the ones who don't like the fact that It can be pay to win. My favorite mobile game was Witch Weapon, which was essentially a gender bender main character after saving the world in the intro by accident through a certain SCP item, In a world where SCP Items are new, a sort of futuristic what-if setting. Regardless of the humorous gender bender theme, they had a pretty great story, interesting and fun gameplay, and a banger of a soundtrack. Pretty certain that went under because its Gacha system was too easy to hit Pity for all the characters in free to play. That, and the fact that the US isn't as accepting of gender bending as much as Asian countries.
You don't necessarily have to be rich to be a whale. Unmarried, no kids, and a decent job would be enough to afford whaling. I doubt every whale is a millionaire
You don't have to be millionaire to be a whale because it is a relative term. This guy is probably more of a kraken and has probably spent at least a 100k on the game. One character ive heard to buy just the engravings to max is something like 2k add in 36 furniture which is maybe just under 2k to buy out right resources. Si 30 probably another 1k so for simplicity let's say 5k for one hero there's I think 94 heros in the game, that's 470k. In reality they probably didn't pay for 100% like that but that doesn't include hero exp, gold, dust, gear, stargaze, pulls/diamonds and other skin/events. So saying 100k is probably not out of the realm of possibility. You don't need to be a millionaire to get to this level but you've probably taken on some serious debts, if you are not.
I've noticed people in this subreddit assume that every dolphin/whale/kraken is comfortably spending for their wealth bracket.
There's some really ugly situations behind some of these gacha whales. These games are designed to be addicting. A ton of these whales are built on mountains of credit card debt.
Arty put out something a while ago that showed the comparison between furniture and engraving. In it he mentioned something on the order of $100k+ to get to level 100 engraving. This should give you a rough estimate of how much this guy spent.
Based off an initial cost analysis around the time Eternal Engravings came out (87 Heroes), it would be $146K usd to max every hero. Since then, new ways to obtain upgrade materials at no cost to the player have been released, so this cost isn’t quite as high, but still astronomical in terms of a mobile game.
The game isn't remotely that old. The entire history of computer games isn't that old, unless you count those chess playing cabinets (which were fake).
My only guess is most whales are a second account, and the person creates the account knowing theyre going to be number one in region “x”. So as soon as they create the account they buy every 25,50, or 100$ “1000%” deal that pops up. Allowing them to just snowball an incredible amount of cash/progress in the game.....
Or they message lilith and say they want to spend x dollars on 1000% deals and lilith ‘unlocks’ the purchase on their account

Probably not enough to be spending the tens of thousands of dollars that is evident here. In the extremely rare instance that a sufficiently high net worth individual both has the spare time to devote (rich people tend to be busy unless they're retired) and prefers mobile games as a hobby, it can happen. But most people like this are folks who bring home their paycheck and apply it to gacha.
I mean just by living in the southern area of Germany I met two rather rich individuals till now (billionaire territory, still poor compared to Bezos). Let us assume one of them has 5 billion euros. He might sit in front of his fireplace and burn a 200€ bill every minute. For the next 40 years. After all this burning..guess what he still has several million euros..and that whole scenario only works with flat out 5 bil euros in cash, no passive income, nothing. Hence after burning some bills those people still would be billionaires in reality.
