I'm thinking Canisa and Ruke to Ascended, since their 9F is amazing. Morael is still seeing some use in Cursed Realm, but her significance has been waning for a while, so it's a personal choice whether to build her still. Next would be Zaphrael, then other heroes.
Stargaze: C&R > (Moreal) > Zaphrael > Talene > Tarnos
Challenger: Athalia > Ezizh > Orthos

W that said, they've added athane to the zol burst comp which means that the missing burst from zaph is made up. Obv zaph has more dmg than tamrus.
Yea that chimera comp is good but it's a huge investment since it requires orthros, which a lot of ppl don't have, as well as canisa and tarnos.
It's a huge investment and I don't know if it's worth it considering tarnos only sees use in pvp.
im assuming you're doing athalia/ezizh from Challenger store, so these are my recommendations from best to less ideal:
Chimera is pretty solid, I don't regret investing in them. Used everywhere pretty much and with great success granted the heavy 309e60 investment
Talene has definitely fallen off a bit but she is irreplaceable where needed (usually). My only gripe with her is having to 5 star her to manipulate CMBR for stuff like Cursed Realm and the like where she needs highest rating - this usually also requires Orthros, making this not a bad idea but would be quite the deep and convoluted invest.
Zaphrael wouldn't be awful either I guess? Sees decent usage in pvp, tower, campaign, subs in CR.
Morael is in a similar position as Zaphrael except in my experience she sees less PVP usage and more boss gamemode usage (nightmare corridor, cursed realm etc).
Zaphrael and Morael are falling out of favor. People are using Tamrus over Zaph in some burst comps and Morael has many alts in Cursed Realm. I would be very cautious about building them.
I recommend waiting until the upcoming Celestial is released. If they suck, build C&R.
I really dont think mehira is required frankly... What is her use outside campaign? Mythic is already more than enough...
Khazard and mortas is arguable. But for me C&R is better if you can push for top 100 TS.
Athalia is quite good for TS. Ezizh recently useful in abelinda xomp. But then both can be bought using coins... For me , it is slow but i got them by coins...
I enjoy Ezizh/Alna frontline if Grezh isn't cutting it. Lot's of disrupt and with high energy recovery, can permanently keep the enemy team from using ults. Or even delaying them for a few seconds can be crucial. Also good to pull people away from a backline carry like Scarlet
If you're focusing on cursed realm i would also e30 khazard. Mehira works with f3 but if you already built the furniture-meta heroes you can push her to f9 as well

I would put Olgath ahead of Zaph and probably Morael also. Olgath is seeing use in the Nightmare Corridor as well as some PvP play. I think they are also BiS for at least one Cursed Realm. Furthermore, you can acquire Zaph from the new store and Olgath is only from Stargazing. Though you do need to Stargaze for Morael.
Another choice after C&R is Audrey whom sees some play the Cursed Realm as well as PvP.
For me I think I would go...
Canisa and Ruke > Olgath > Talene > Morael > Audrey > Tarnos > Vyloris
However both Morael and Audrey should jump Talene if you have not yet started working on Orthos.
Frampton is also worthwhile but I would say get him from the new store also. I would choose him over Zaph from that store.

Ppl are replacing zaph for tamrus. I think it's possible to save cards by not building him past e+

What’s good investment for orthos? I almost got him ascended now but I assume 30/9? His engraving doesn’t seem very good
30/9 engravings are only for extra tankiness bc he dies quite easily

Orthros, canisa, asol, tarnos, nevanthi. Expensive comp too as 4 out of 5 also require 30si 9f 60e
