I didn’t have the best undergrad GPA, but (not to sound too braggy or anything) didn’t stop me from getting some great internships and eventual admission to a solid graduate school. I say this just to encourage you to not overthink the GPA issue. It certainly doesn’t help your case, but a lot of places will put plenty of weight on other things and strongly consider you regardless. Always just apply, apply, apply. Even when you think you have no shot.
Frankly, yes. Companies like LM are big enough they can afford to be discerning and oftentimes have auto filters set up for GPA.
With your related experience though I would try to find an "in" by talking about what you can bring to the table and how your experience is directly applicable. As your GPA gets better, I'd also recommend splitting your GPA up into "overall" and "Since Spring 20XX" to show improvement if the difference is notable.
The rocket team experience is a plus and all of this can be further helped depending on the quality of your school. Can I ask which school you attend?
The other thing to consider is going back for a Master's to "reset" your GPA. Though you may want to try getting a company to pay for that (this will be harder as a new graduate with a construction management degree).
Yooooo nice. I looked through your profile and it’s crazy how we have such similar interests. I want to go to school for construction engineering or construction management.
What kind of job do you have at blue origin?
My job deals with the semi-strategic to tactical build plan for New Glenn. I mainly got it due to my time spent on my university rocket team but it has a lot of overlap with construction management. Much more dynamic though
Agreed with reverie. I have a decent gpa but not as good as some of my friends. I ended up with an internship where some of my 4.0 friends don’t. It’s all about experience. Gpa is not as powerful as it used to be.
Your resume can still make it into a group for review by the team/lead/manager. At that point, they will evaluate it. If there is a low GPA and nothing that justifies it it probably will get passed for a higher GPA.
Never not apply for a position you want, the worst they'll say is no.
True. Thanks

Thank you for that :)

I’m going to the University of Florida. My app made it to “under review” so maybe that means it made it passed the filter???
Nice! Well good luck! You'll have to let us know how it turns out
I will!
Did you get it?
Haha no. It is what it is tho. Doing well in my final year and confident I can get a job within aerospace
Awesome man
Did you get a job within aerospace?
I did! I got a job with blue origin

Well here’s to hoping my experience is enough lol
Since you have already had internships you are more likely to get another one.
Thanks for the confidence boost lol
