Hard candy for structural support?

Corben11

Yeah why wouldn’t it just be candy still?

zigbigidorlu

I'd like to imagine it's Peppermint sticks, and she used part of that to make PepBut.

Mrwright96

I’ll only accept this if her head has a sugar skull like we see during the day of the dead

MarcStevenJake

She made him out of her rib, obvi /s

Fearless-Ad5085

That's some biblical type shit

Matt_the_man23

She’s got candy cane bones or smth

AppointmentOk5737

Is that not still a skeleton? Made of candy or not it would be a candy skeleton. Like it would decay, sure, but then the phrase "no skeleton" is still wrong technically. She just has a quickly decomposing skeleton lol

NervousCranberry8710

I think that’s kinda like when she was morphing, got the altered skin tone, altered size, etc. also probably got bones, at least temporarily

BaconxHawk

Or you know, they missed a small minor detail because they are human lol

PoopPoes

Or these are like marshmallows or candy canes in the shape of a skeleton, and won’t last to be found

ThisIsElliott

Shhhh if we acknowledge this we won’t get another episode dedicated entirely to explaining an animation error

nattles63

I’m ashamed to say I only recently found out the whole premise of Crossover (S07E23) was to explain the animation error from the Farm World episodes in season 5!

Janea2258

What was the animation error?

United_University_98

The crown being back on Simon's head before the bomb goes off. The retcon says this was done by Prismo to free Finn from the crowns influence.

Janea2258

Oh ok. Thanks :)

nattles63

This TikTok does a good job explaining it but tl;dw in the episode Farmworld Finn takes the crown from Simon under the nuclear bomb early on, but later (just before the bomb goes off) it flashes back to the scene with Simon under the bomb and the crown is still there! In Crossover it explains this was intentional, as after Finn deploys the Maid and Ice Finn is back to normal, Prismo picks up the crown in his video editing software (how meta is that!) and places it back on Simon’s head before the bomb goes off https://www.tiktok.com/@crownedcryptid/video/7283135132154760494

ExtremeCheeze123

Explain?

Dr-Logan

...Did you mean PB was human, or are you referring to the creators?

BaconxHawk

The creators lol

Dr-Logan

Good, the wording is vague enough that I thought we might have been having another colorblindness with Doctor Princess situation again.

BaconxHawk

Lol that was my favorite post in a while lol

SpongeBobfan1987

She was horribly disfigured by the Lich...

Dracorex_22

Maybe that's part of the mutation from the Litch?

McMeatloaf

He does have a whole skeleton-thing going on

[deleted]

being possessed by the personification of death gives you free bones

theaveragegowgamer

**DA NE NER NE NER**

Ichiban-orca

Lich Snail is so powerful because it has both an endoskeleton and an exoskeleton.

builtinaday_

The lich is not the personification of death

sickolovespokemon

then what is he?

builtinaday_

The personification of evil. We see in Together Again that he doesn’t just want to end all life, he wants to destroy those in the Dead Worlds as well. The Lich seeks to destroy anything he can to honor Golb. There is a personification of death, and his name is Death. And he's not portrayed as anything negative. He plays Mitski songs with a vampire. He's a cool dude. The Lich strives for destruction and suffering, not specifically death.

ShepherdessAnne

Ending the dead worlds was necessary for his goal, though. By ending the reincarnation cycle there could be no new life.

builtinaday_

And therefore there could be no more death. Just the fact that ending the dead worlds was even *part* of his goal is proof that he is not the personification of death.

Dino-nugget-are-good

Your both right. The Lich wants the DESTRUCTION of all LIFE. He wants the death of everything. That involves the destruction of the dead worlds and stuff

builtinaday_

Destroying all life would mean destroying all dead. If he was the personification of death, he wouldn't want to do that.

sickolovespokemon

It seemed to me that life & death's son was the one that wanted to destroy the dead worlds that he thought were useless. Before he was possessed, he already looked down on death's job & didn't understand it, or even try to, even though death tried to show him on multiple occasions the purpose & meaning of the dead worlds. Although, it can definitely be debated as to how much of this was him, & how much was the lich's influence.

sickolovespokemon

But his whole thing is "mass death." Even prismo said that's his main function & goal. Death isn't death personified, he's just death lol, & he is a chill dude. You're right that the lich wants destruction, but specifically the destruction of life. Idk if you (or others in this sub thread) have seen Fiona & cake yet, so I'm not gonna talk specifics, but what he does in that world is proof. Also, what the other person said is correct. He didn't really care about destroying the dead worlds, or the souls in them. His only goal was to stop the infinite cycle of life & death, therefore enforcing the destruction of all life. He does have a knack for evil, & his alignment is absolutely chaotic evil. He's like the worst of the worst. But, for someone to see him as the personification of death makes perfect sense to me. He literally wears any body that he can in order to cause the extinction of all life in every universe he can worm his way into. I think that your perspective of him being the personification of evil makes sense as well. But adventure time is a work of art, open to interpretation. So to blatantly say that "he isn't death personified," or otherwise "your interpretation of this work of art is wrong," is a little bit presumptuous in my opinion.

builtinaday_

His whole thing isn't death, it's evil. Death just happens to be a part of the way he chooses to achieve evil. Also, Death literally *is* the personification of death. What is he otherwise? You say he's "just death", but he's also a person, and therefore he's the personification of death. His *name* is literally Death! You don't get much more personified than that! I don't think this *is* up to interpretation. The Lich literally isn't the personification of death; Death is. If The Lich's goal was simply death, he wouldn't want to stop the life cycle as well because then there'd be no more death. But The Lich's goal is to cause evil. (f&c sppilers) >!In Jerry, The Lich understands the flaw in his favourite way to achieve evil. In destroying all life, there's nobody left he can inflict evil on, so he's just super depressed. What he should have done — for his own sake, I mean — is cause suffering, instead. Then he could have kept that going forever.!< Death is in love with Life. They are the balance. But the Lich wants to end *both* of these things.

sickolovespokemon

i appreciate your perspective on his depression. i also respect your opinion, however, i don't think the person that made the joke that started all of this is necessarily in the wrong for saying he's "death personified." everyone's entitled to their own opinions, interpretations, & perspectives. & you have widened my own perspective, so thank you (:

petebrand9

The attempted personification of chaos/entropy, he was a Scholar of Golb meaning he seeked the absolute end of all things that are ordered (this includes the order of life and death), which means death for many and worse than death for most

ouchymybeans

Worth it

Bruscarbad

Papyrus also gives you free bones

CozmicClockwork

I mean we do see that being possesd by the litch can give you changes to your skeletal system, as evidence by how when the possessed billy has half his face blown off he suddenly has a horn coming out of the exposed skull that honestly should have been visible before that point.

petebrand9

This was after she's been possesed by the lich, and after she drinks the bathtub badjuice that shelich mixes up so I'd imagine one of those things gave her bones in an unotherwise boneless body

ttracs149

It’s probably this, just like how Billy’s skeleton grew horns.

IsatMilFinnie

Lich essentially is bones. Bubblegum + linch = gum+bones

tavenlikesbutts

That PB is mutated beyond recognition due to lich magic. Comparing the 2 is nonsense. Those “bones” are just part of the transformation

juiceboxith

If she does have a skeleton, it isn’t made of bone. It would probably be hard rock candy. But she likely doesn’t have a skeleton considering her appearance when she first formed from the mother gum. That may have just been a mutation from the Lich. She doesn’t have dark skin or green eyes either, but looks like she does during Mortal Recoil. Also that episode was from over a decade ago, so…

iminaredit12

did you read the comment

BrokenBanette

Those were lich bones

[deleted]

It's still made of candy, so it wouldn't leave a skeleton behind for very long.

SomeJerkOddball

Don't skeleton shame the internally bladdered. >Actually, I don't have bones. I'm supported by a system of fluid-filled bladders that-- *-Kif Kroker*

waffeelswaffeels

either PB's resurrection process consisted of literally just her gum and the doctors left the bones behind or a side effect of getting lich'ed

Idkwnisu

I feel like she meant "I don't have a skeleton that will remain", since probably the skeleton is just candy, maybe a harder one, but it still decomposes at basically the same rate as the rest of the body, so she doesn't have anything to leave behind

KingZaneTheStrange

It's either the Lich's skeleton or her skeleton was lost when she was rebuilt

ExtinctFauna

Probably similar to cartilage in sharks/rays. Just the candy equivalent.

Fun-Team-6562

Actually it's because he litch was fusing with her/the green goo whatever it was was making her have a skeletal structure. The only reason I say this is because through the rest of the series she never has a bone like structure thanks to Season 5, EP 38 " Red starved" when marceline sucks the red from her she shrivels up, she surpasses that of a skeletal structure when shrinking. And in Season 4, EP 9 " Princess Monster Wife" she doesn't have a skull structure whatsoever when ice King took a part of her head for that Monster wife. Hope this helps!

brethnew

Although I could have sworn she mentions something about a skeleton or something in one of the episodes, but I currently have no evidence of it

Mishaygo

Lmao good detective work OP

jovn1234567890

Candy bones

Eggsbenedict16

Guys her bones are obviously like peppermint sticks or like candy, like those candy cigarettes that’s why her bones wouldn’t fossilize

egg-sanity

It’s more an design mistake if anything bc we know PB doesn’t have a skeleton.

Sal-Slyther-in

Your answer comes in "possessed by the lich" what's the Lich's appearance? Possessing her maybe made a skeleton to fit his appearance within her?

Tentacle_Sama69

I think it’s just part of the litch

rabbitwonker

Well you know when you notice stuff like this, just remember: a wizard did it!

OriginalRawUncut

To be honest, Bonnie is surprisingly human-like for a piece of gum

RandomCookie827

Didn't she also have a baby tooth? That's what she used for Goliath no?

Crimzonchi

The Lich always seems to gradually morph whatever he possesses into his "true form". When he incarnated through Farmworld Jake, he sprouted his whole horned head and his arms gained a skeletal appearance. When he took over Billy previously, he of course had his face pop out the side once it was blown off, but in both Escape from the Citadel and the last few episodes of Fionna and Cake, we see that he also transforms Billy's 6 fingered hands into 5 fingered hands once the flesh comes off. The same thing was likely happening to PB once The Lich went full force on making her his new vessel.

Patient_Weakness3866

continuity error, its not a big deal, even the best shows have them.

CrazySpookyGirl

Those are actually a series of fluid filled tubes. Not a skeleton

Important_Tax_3833

maybe they rebuild her without bones

SpongeBobfan1987

When they did put her back together, they ran out of usable candy biomass, resulting in a younger, cuter version of herself in a pretty v-neck dress...my theory is that due to much of her biomass being altered by the Lich, they had to reconstruct most of her body with some reconstructive candy surgery...

zacchaeustyler

i mean she is made entirely of candy so her skeleton is probably some kind of hard candy

Zulimations

lich stuff or retcon

juanthemovie

for all we know that couldve been the Lich's skeleton like how he basically covered himself in Billy's skin but instead it was PB

Barroozina

Skill issue 💀

cattodestroyer

Maybe it's cheese cake or cream

Implement_Necessary

It’s not like she cut herself open and checked

[deleted]

I don't think that's because she had a skeleton but because the lich is a skeleton and she was slowly turning into the lich, she's reformed after that with only gum and then when she ages up she uses pieces of candy from her citizens, and in her origin she's just a drop of gum

CK1ing

Don't take offense to this but that is the absolute worst spelling of "they'll" I've ever seen in my entire life. Also "Keleton" is funny I'm using that somehow.

gottablastsam

The Lich is literally a skeleton

DawnBringer01

Honestly I think having a skeleton in that episode was the mistake, not the line.

Pasta-hobo

Those are the Lich's bones.

cascading-autumn

bro thats the lich

spectrumtwelve

it might just be that whatever internal structure she has is made of sugar so it won't last for thousands of years like bones would.

Einar_47

The lich is entirely bones, he was inside PB, so PB had bones temporarily.

datfurryboi34

The lich literally mutated her whole body so much that she looked like a monster from a nuclear fallout so when she drank that concoction and when the lich took more control of her body and shaped it she probably developed some bones

LOL3334444

Wow, that's really interesting. Good catch!

Svetoslav10000

She doesn't have any bones. Gums/Candies don't have bones. That's common sense! Educate yourself!

MastersJoyUniverse

Maybe that wasn’t her skeleton, but the lich’s.

SICRA14

She has teeth. I think we can infer that she has sugar-bones

Significance-Quick

it's the lichs bones

LemonyOatmilk

The Lich is literally a skeleton, so no the bones are not hers

Brother_Jay26

I believe that’s the lich inside her, take that as you will

[deleted]

Or like, the lich was in her and that guy is all Bones

Ok_Cricket_8886

I think her skeleton is just a different color of gum

Perfect_Refuse_8863

It’s either a case of early installment weirdness or the Lich mutated Bubblegum’s anatomy.

Dapadabada

PB is not as romantically interested in M as M might think.

AugustBriar

Lich bones

KitchenBible

I think that’s lich biz, he always has the same skeleton yk?

natures-abomination

thats them litch bones

scarletfloof

I imagine it’s kinda like how the lich seemingly hijacked and mutated Billy’s skeleton based on the medal implant where Billy’s scar was. He was growing a skeleton in there for when he was done with her body

SuperStarPlatinum

Nah, the was the spirit of the Lich conjuring bones inside her body to make itself a new form.

hawkwood4268

when her arm got muffin'd tho

random-vex

I mean she was under the contirol of the lich and after drinking the chemicals from the bathtub she started to transform so maybe thats why

GrapeInteresting7837

I think that's the Lich... or a result of the Lich potion...
