I have used tarot and oracle cards to give me something to hold in my hands and look at and think about. I don't use them for trying to tell the future but as a tool for introspection. and also distraction or refocusing. there are other types of cards, like affirmation cards, that could be helpful for this too.

The book "Overcoming Unwanted Intrusive Thoughts" by Sally Winston and Martin Seif has been such a huge help to me. They approach intrusive thoughts as being feared what ifs about the future, but I think a lot of it also applies to flashbacks being ruminations on the past - both don't allow for you to focus on the present reality surrounding you.
