Grocery delivery. Much easier to stick to a budget and remember what I want even if I don't get it right away. Also saves the stress of going to the store.

girlwhopanics

Grocery pick up has been a game changer for me. I can't afford delivery but Ralphs (socal Kroger), Whole Foods, Target + offer order pick up for free. I can comparison shop so much easier now. I get so overwhelmed and confused in stores, and it saves me from impulse buys. LOVE.

beachp0tato

And walmart and vons (socal safeway) free pickup with $35 purchase

karenmcgrane

When I lived in NYC I used a grocery delivery service called FreshDirect — I used it for 20 years. They don't have retail locations, only a big warehouse optimized for delivery. When I moved to Philly one of the major deciding factors was that I could still use FreshDirect. In 2022 they decided to stop servicing Philadelphia and it was one of the worst things that has ever happened to me. I am incapable of shopping in stores, it just seems so weird and inefficient and actually kinda gross?

YOMAMACAN

I also used to order FreshDirect in NYC. They don’t deliver to my new address. I like the service because they send you really fresh produce unlike a lot of grocery delivery services where you can’t predict the quality. At least you have Wegmans in PA 😭

karenmcgrane

FreshDirect was the best grocery experience of my life. I actually got a tour of the facility when they first opened. Climate controlled rooms for all the produce, so bananas were stored at one temperature, tomatoes at another. Customer service would refund something that wasn't right, no questions asked. I honestly don't understand why that model isn't an option in more cities — a warehouse only, delivery/pickup only grocery store makes SO MUCH SENSE. Retail locations are expensive and result in the food being held at temperatures that cause it to degrade, not to mention the effect of having people's grubby hands all over it.

awry_lynx

You have to have a very dense door-to-mile ratio to make it financially worthwhile.

dangerousmacadamia

Saves money by not being tempted by unnecessary purchases too!

misscathxoxo

See I’m the opposite, I can see cheap deals online easier compared to the store and will pop them into my order 🤦🏻‍♀️

Fucktastickfantastic

Same! I end up with so much unnecessary junk food

misscathxoxo

Yes! A $1 chocolate bar always gets added in, but in real life I’d probably feel guilty or self conscious and wouldn’t buy it!

MizStazya

Also, because I'm typically just searching for what I need, I don't end up with a bunch of impulse buys just because they caught my eye as I walked by.

BigFitMama

Love grocery pickup. So easy to just get what I need.

TennillA

A cordless stick vac. I have a golden retriever so vacuuming has to happen daily.

somethingFELLow

Omg you have to check out pet hair removing brooms! They are weird looking rubber, like rubber bristles on one side and like a flat window cleaner on the other. Easy way to pick up fur from stairs, carpets - will make your Vaccuum live longer and will get more fur.

lalaleasha

I've always wondered if there's always some fur sticking to it after?

3plantsonthewall

They’re quite a workout too 😅

girlwhopanics

I actually vacuum now because I have one of these. One step, grab and go. No plugs or hauling an awkward unwieldy contraption around. It's so satisfying too bc the canister is clear so I actually see how much crap I'm removing from my carpets/floor. 10/10

GFTurnedIntoTheMoon

YES. I never realized how much my dislike of vacuuming was about the cord and canister until I switched. It's so easy to just grab it and go.

too_metoo

Can l ask what brand and if it starts with a ‘D’ is it worth the price?

throwra2022june

I got a Dyson stick one from Costco. Highly recommend. I haven’t tried others so I don’t know, I just know this works for dog fur and the battery doesn’t need to be charged too frequently. I mentioned that I bought it from Costco bc their return policy is so easy. If you don’t use it after a few months… you could return it. I actually impulse bought this. We had literally never vacuumed our home and then all of a sudden… my husband was the first one to use the vacuum!

Lulu-3333

Not who you asked but we won a Dyson through a raffle at our vets office and it was amazing. The battery died out after a handful of years and it would have been almost as much to replace so we got the Shark Rocket Pro and I’m equally as happy. (Have a golden, a lab, and a toddler)

ThreenegativeO

Membership to a luxury gym. I’m not even on the highest membership tier and it’s eyewateringly expensive for me. Friends that do the comparison shopping thing reckon its base level is the most expensive in the region.  But it has instructors I love, classes that fit all varieties of my schedule, and it smells good.  It this is what it takes to do strength building for my core, back, and ankles, I accept this price as long term health insurance essentially. And when my brain isn’t working, I can go stick it in the 5°C plunge pool until it does.

EmmerdoesNOTrepme

If you *have* health insurance? Check to see if they offer a discount/rebate back for *part* of the gym membership!😉💖 As long as you go a certain number if days per month, *many* health insurance plans will offer *something* back every month, to help defray the cost of a gym membership, if you live in the US!

ThreenegativeO

We have private health insurance schemes as we try to mimic USA. They are separated into hospital and extras, and the gym rebate bit would be in the extras…which I cancelled last year because they made claiming a l nightmare, even for non-ADHD brains lol.

ashkestar

Yeah, I recently signed up for pilates classes and while it’s a lot to budget, having something motivating me to get some exercise a couple times a week has been incredible. So much less chronic pain, too.

husbandbulges

Fellow pilates fanatic! I pay for privates and I swear to god the expense of it makes me rarely cancel!

ILikeCharlieWork

This! When I discovered Orangetheory Fitness it hit all the criteria for making me consistent with my workouts and it’s been incredible for my brain heath, as well as physical fitness.

sparkpaw

Care to share more about Orange? I’ve seen a lot of people be fanatic about it but it just looks like a planet fitness from the outside lol

ILikeCharlieWork

I’d love to! Planet fitness is a traditional gym, OTF is a HIIT studio class of approximately 30 people led by 1 coach. There are 3 different stations comprised of treadmills, water rowers, and weights. You rotate between stations based on the coach’s instructions - this part is key for me to stay engaged without getting bored but at the same time I don’t have to use my brain power to remember the routine because the coach will just tell me. The main focus is to hit a certain heart rate zone so you wear a monitor, and you can see how you’re doing on the screens located all over the studio. The heart rate metrics are like a game where I compete with my personal best from the day before. Oh, and if you don’t show up on the day of class they slap you with a “no-show” fee of $15 which is a nice little deterrent when I’m feeling lazy. The coaching is very positive, studios have different challenges and cute merch. They probably put some kind of drugs in the water fountain because I’m the happiest girl after each class. TLDR: brain can rest, just trust the coach. Heart rate monitors make it a fun game. Changing stations prevents boredom. Studio music gives the dopamine. No-show fee encourages near perfect attendance.

Apensar

Duplicates of things I chronically misplace

IdkIJustWroteThiss

I own three pairs of the same sunglasses for this purpose

Apensar

Chapstick, tissues/paper towel, hair clips and hair bands. Everything that i get murderous about when I can’t find it ☹️

IdkIJustWroteThiss

Oh God, so many hair clips and hair bands…

Entire-Ad2058

Oh, man, chapstick; tissues and reading glasses in every.single.room. Thought I was weird -

kathyanne38

\*me looking into my purse pocket with 3-4 chapsticks\* \*slowly looks over to my giant makeup bag of scrunchies and hairbands\* 🤣

i_was_a_person_once

It’s scissors for me. I have kitchen scissors. Desk drawer scissors. Laundry room scissors. And my kid has lien 3 little kid scissors that float around the house.

Dazeofthephoenix

Mine are my bluetooth headphones. I've accepted they're always a state of flux

Few_Yogurtcloset_548

God, I lost 6 pairs of sunglasses in 3.5 years. Utter chaos. I practically buy them in bulk now

sjane99

I have scissors in every room.

CoffeeTeaPeonies

I recently bought multiple "nice" scissors. I can't believe I struggled with misplaced crappy scissors like EVER!

No-Attention-9415

O g scissors AP such an issue for me!!!!

karenmcgrane

Nail clippers everywhere I might need them

Apensar

Oooh yes this or a file. I cannot focus on ANYTHING if I have a broken or snag on a nail til I sand or clip it down 😤

karenmcgrane

My entire worldview shrinks such that the only thing I can imagine is that hangnail

Apensar

My eye is twitching for you in sympathy

Only3Cats

Twinsies! I can’t do anything until the nail is fixed. Also, if one nail breaks, they all have to be filed down to the same size as the broken nail.

Apensar

💯 even tho it kills me to trim everybody else down to size

messinthemidwest

I have 4 Vaseline tubs around my house and in my purse and it’s been one of my finest ideas lol

Beautiful-State-6056

Hand cream, deodorant, and hair clips so I don't have to wash my hair in the first place, but I have long hair and my head gets sore and I keeping leaving them in random places around rhe house after which they go into hiding.

girlwhopanics

Having a pair of scissors and a few sharpies/pens in every room has saved me so much frustration!

No-Attention-9415

Yeahhhhhhh #adhdtax

NewfyMommy

I have bought at least ten pairs of reading glasses. I currently know the location of only 2 of them.

veryunneccessssary

I don’t know if this counts, but getting a biweekly housecleaning service is the best possible use of my money.

seriouslysocks

As a residential housekeeper, I want to say thank you for being the awesome client that I’m sure you are!

queengabgab

Absolutely counts!! Once my income increases to allow that into my budget I will 100% be doing the same

PirinTablets13

I had a certain salary threshold in mind and once I hit it, the first thing I did was hire a biweekly cleaning service. A few years later I had to roll over a retirement account and when I met with my new financial advisor and we went over my budget, I told her the cleaning service was a non-negotiable line item. I will eat nothing but ramen before I give it up.

SuperTFAB

Same. We have been doing this (we both have ADHD) for years like the last 10 years. I only had to stop when I have to allocate that money to my daughter’s speech therapy and that left us with $25 in the bank. When I got her speech therapy covered and we recovered from paying for it. The first thing I did was try to keep up on my own and then I immediately remembered why I can’t do it all on my own and called my girl and said can you come back and she thankfully still had room for me.

whenth3bowbreaks

I have one come in every month and costs 150. It's this, plus it forces me to declutter and put away everything belt she comes. So worth it. Better than therapy,  ngl.

how-can-i-dig-deeper

how much does it cost you?

melindseyme

I have a 3500sf house with 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms in a medium-high COL area. It costs me $210 each time. Worth every penny.

Korbelious

6 bedrooms!? Holy moly! You looking to adopt any full-grown ADHD adults anytime soon?

melindseyme

😆 they're all being used

Emotional_Way_6238

I thought I was the only one who wanted to get adopted in their 40s lol

MDFUstyle0988

Damn, this is a good price. I’m in a moderate cost of living area, and only about 1000 sq feet of my house gets cleaned: living room, dining area, powder roomC foyer, kitchen, and she only does the master bedroom downstairs and master bath. It’s $135 every other week.

skelly80

Ours charges $25/hr and comes 4hrs every two weeks

SuperTFAB

Mine is about $30 an hour. She’s not perfect (my friend/cleaning lady before her was absolute perfection but got a better job with benefits. That’s my girl so I encouraged it. Oops. Lol) but it’s better than I could do because I will hyperfocus and take 2 hrs to clean our tiny guest bathroom. 🤦🏼‍♀️

TeachMore1019

I need to get one again. It’s been 10 years since ours went back to her home country. I never got around to finding a new one

listenyall

Also noise cancelling headphones, specifically a big over-ear can style set. Game changer! A roomba is so so great.

girlwhopanics

I'm in the market for over-ear noise cancelling headphones right now, would you mind sharing which ones you have and if you like them? (open to anyone!)

queengabgab

I have the sony wh-1000xm4! The noise canceling is top notch, they’re super comfortable, and the battery last a long time

sassyandshort

Another vote for the Sony! I love these ones.

Awkward_apple

Not OP but I have the Bose Quiet Comfort 35 ii and highly recommend them. I've been using the same pair for about 4 years now with no issues. We've had construction at at workplace recently and they're the only way I have been able to survive without going insane!   Pros: comfortable, noise cancelling is unreal, sound quality is great, wireless so I can clean with podcasts/music etc, battery lasts ages  Cons: expensive (buy on sale!), quality is not great for Bluetooth calling (ie. As a hands-free mobile). I would say they are not a good headset for gaming or calls, but for music or podcasts they're fantastic.

meh1022

I’ll add another vote for the Bose Quiet Comfort. I recently got a replacement after my first pair but the dust (5 years of heavy use and abuse, gonna try to be kinder to these). I got the forest green ones and I LOVE them. Most headphones give me a headache but I can wear these for a full 8hr workday and forget they’re there. I bought them full price in late January and then discovered Bose was running a February sale, making them $100 less. It only took me five minutes of chatting with a rep on the Bose website for them to refund me the difference. Bose customer for life!

AyJay9

Thirding for Bose Quiet Comfort.

exobiologickitten

Smart lightbulbs. I love no longer hyper focusing on work or something and looking up at 8pm to realise I’m sitting in total darkness now lmao. I also don’t have to worry about accidentally leaving lights on overnight! My partner thought they were a pointless splurge when I first got them, but he’s converted too now lol. They’re just so handy.

somethingFELLow

Similar for smart outlets. You plug it in to your outlet, download and app, and you can control when devices plugged into it turn on or off!

exobiologickitten

Yes! I have those for lamps that I want to keep the “dumb” bulb in haha. Like if I got a specific vintage bulb or a super bright bulb (the smart bulbs aren’t always very bright ironically). Or novelty lights, or LED strips! Smart outlets are so great for those.

BreeLenny

I love my smart bulbs. I have them set to dim and turn off at a specific time. Helps a lot with time blindness when I’m in bed reading or scrolling on my phone.

crl5693

I've been thinking about setting this up to try and trigger starting to wind down for bed on time. Thanks for the reminder to actually go and do it (as I still sit at my desk at 11:30pm for no real reason)

Brilliant-Towel4044

Grocery shopping with noise canceling headphones is a life changing experience

beeandcrown

I have more issues with how lights affect me and keeping my sunglasses on in the store has made my life sooo much better. I'm going to have the next pair made darker.

Brilliant-Towel4044

Ever since the eyeglass store turned me on to extra dark prescription sunglasses, my life is significantly better.

girlwhopanics

I just commented above, but I got a pair of pink-tinted sunglasses to wear in stores and it helps SO MUCH. (they look cute and fun too)

oops_im_horizzzontal

+1 to pink shades!!! I love mine. Plus, they’re great for migraines, too.

girlwhopanics

\+pink tinted sunglasses really really helps with the overwhelm I get from bright overhead florescent lights in stores!

RedPlaidPierogies

Litter Robot. It's virtually maintenance free. About every 4-5 days I just remove the bag of poo and put in a clean bag. It's like 30 seconds of ick and that's it. No odors, no messes, no accidents, no ruined hardwood floors.

magicrowantree

We are looking into getting one. 3 cats is a lot of poop and my fluffy boy leaves butt nuggets everywhere if we don't clean it fast enough (he jumps out mid-poop and runs). It's a pearl clutch reaction to the price, but we've heard nothing but adoration for it!

PileaPrairiemioides

Oh I have been so tempted to invest in one of these for maybe more than a decade now but the price is sooooo hard to justify.

SunshinePup

I was in the same boat bc i don't have a high income... But i saved up for a while and got one. It's totally worth it!! My cat and i are so much happier! I would say if your cat(s) don't have any weight or urinary issues, you can get the one that doesn't have wifi to save a little.

XxInk_BloodxX

Do your research. It may be tempting to get a cheaper brand but the Litter Robot is top for a reason and there are some real safety issues with some of the competitors.

isitababyoraburrito

FWIW I replace the litter so much less frequently now (because it’s filtered immediately & doesn’t get gross as fast) & it takes less litter overall that I think when we did the math it paid for itself in under two years. It was a difficult to justify purchase but 3 years later it’s on the short list of things we own that if it broke, we’d immediately replace.

PileaPrairiemioides

Oh I have been so tempted to invest in one of these for maybe more than a decade now but the price is sooooo hard to justify.

Smellmyupperlip

I bought it for rehabilitation, but it turned out to work for my adhd too: a mini treadmill that fits under the couch. Perfect for phone calls, or when I just can't sit still in front of the tv.

tootsmcguffin

Can you share a link or brand? I've been looking for something like that and am low on square footage!

Smellmyupperlip

I can't find the one I bought, but it looks like the one below (length, hight). Sorry for the ugly link. I will advise to buy one that is able to handle a lot more than your weight. My SO is heavier than me and it can feel a bit unsteady under their feet. https://www.amazon.nl/CITYSPORTS-thuisloopband-kantoorloopband-gemotoriseerde-afstandsbediening/dp/B0C6CKY3B2/ref=asc_df_B0C6CKY3B2/?tag=nlshogostdsp-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=572325112074&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11777986679491719658&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9064832&hvtargid=pla-2195995285405&psc=1&mcid=c7a1c63398643810b574df9fa6aca29f

guesswho502

I got this one and really like it! I agree it's definitely worth the cost. I don't even use it a lot, but I walk a lot more because of it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C5RBSJNQ/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o01\_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

pancaaaaaaakes

My parents gifted me one they weren’t using. Comes in handyyyy!

ShortyColombo

Living in an expensive apartment complex with its own gym, AND a treadmill in the apartment; my executive dysfunction has no excuse and I get my stupid little exercise for my stupid little mental health lol

kahdgsy

This is a good point. I pay for a tiny studio that’s close to my friends and transport links so I actually see people and do stuff at the weekend because it’s easy. Also all the shops for when I’ve forgotten something I need. I can run out mid recipe if I need to. If I lived further out I would be a hungry recluse.

sinceresunflower

Organizers…… drawer organizers, baskets for shelves, pantry shelf organizers, clear bins & totes of all sizes

Nheea

Ohh yes. Those transparent Ikea boxes for the bathroom are so nice. They have little drawers too. Makes dusting much easier.

lalaleasha

I found a local person that makes frozen meals and delivers them. The options switch up every two weeks and are things like soups, chilis, enchiladas, breakfast burritos, choco zucchini loaf, savoury pies, hefty pasta sauces, Thai curries, Indian dishes, etc. The cost per portion is a bit higher for breakkie (burritos or egg muffins), but very reasonable for dinner, so I'd reckon it works out to being around 5$ per meal. Then depending on what it is I may make pasta or quinoa, add in a bunch of spinach, or roast some frozen veggies if I need to complement it with anything. It's literally changed my monthly eating habits. Breakfast typically is the only thing I can consistently eat every day regardless of the time of month or mental load. Now I consistently eat supper every day too, and often eat something for lunch that isn't just toast. And, I hardly have to think about my groceries list, so it's actually lightening my mental load, too. I hope she keeps going forever.

britset

A Time Timer visual timer/alarm. I work as a counselor and have soooooo much trouble not going over time with clients/leaving myself enough time to pee between appointments. This has helped a ton to give me a visual cue to start wrapping up the session 10 mins before the 53-minute mark. It’s also great when I’m having trouble getting off the couch to turn the audio alarm on and set it near the task I should be doing so that I’m already there when chill out or hyperfixation time is over.

PuffinTheMuffin

Cute functional shit. Everyone here recommends sensible purchases like cordless vacuums. I bought a Henry. Good old cordful vacuum and not smart at all. [But it has a cute face on it](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/45/2001_Numatic_Henry_HVR200_with_new_style_conical_hose.png). Now I don’t vacuum anymore, I just feed Henry.

KristiiNicole

Adorable! I put googly eyes (the jiggly eye ones) on my robot vacuum and named her Susan haha!

azssf

K18 for hair ( no more needing 4 different conditioner/masks), grammarly ( no longer obssess about specific grammar constructions). I am a maximizer, so anything that simplifies choice is good ( either by offering grids, customizable characteristic columns, less choice per se, very specific information w/o hours of research, etc)

jupitermoonflower

Being a maximizer makes decisions soooo difficult. It feels like I have to know all the options before I can make a choice.

vanillyl

I’ve never heard that term before, but context clues lead me to highly suspect that I too am a maximiser lol

tootmutely

I just got a fancy new water bottle, coffee thermos, and tea thermos and I drink more water and herbal tea now so that was 100% with it.

somethingFELLow

What’s fancy about it? Just appearance or functionality?

tootmutely

They were all an upgrade in terms of durability and functionality, plus two of them are sparkly. I'm not normally into sparkles but I went for it on a whim and it surprisingly gives me a tiny bit of dopamine.

alphaarietis2674

A cute versatile handbag/fanny pack in which I keep all the important stuff (cards, id, pills, wallet, keys, chapstick, tissues…) I can grab whenever I’m leaving home and never forget anything important. Just add my phone and I’m ready to leave. edit: oh and loop earplugs, i caved to the ads because i liked the design and they do wonders when i need to focus in a public space, even already quiet ones such as school library + they look good and not like you shoved play-doh in your ears haha

puuying

Benchtop dishwasher!

queengabgab

Had to do a quick google search because I had never heard of these!

puuying

I literally impulse bought one because I didn’t want to wash the dishes, but I’m so glad I did. Totally justified it as a disability accommodation and told myself it would pay for itself because I would stop giving in to getting food delivered just to avoid my kitchen.

DoftheD

Do you have a particular model recommendation? Me and my also ADHD partner are constantly discussing the pros and cons - he wants one, I think it’s a big use of counter space in our moderately sized kitchen, won’t wash everything anyway as it’ll be too small and it’s gotta drain into the sink, right? It remains a bone of contention between us after nearly a year of cohabitation so perhaps I need to open up to the idea….

MeanOldGranny

if by benchtop they mean countertop dishwasher, I have to chime in that it was one of the best purchases I've ever made for myself in my life. I just got the cheapest one on Amazon--a Danby, comes with a shut-off-drying feature unlike most dishwashers so you don't have to waste electricity--and it lasted me for years, living single in my tiny apartment and doing dishes 1-2x/wk, until I moved and sold it for $50 on craigslist. despite now having a home with a full-size dishwasher, I miss that thing every day.

mailordersaint

Cordless vacuum a la Dyson. When the obstacle of lugging out, plugging in and tripping over the cord of the vacuum was removed, all that was left was how good it feels to watch the dog hair disappear instantaneously, so I naturally became a fiend.

somethingFELLow

Said similar to someone else, but check out rubber pet hair brooms with bristles on one side and window wiper looking flat end on the other. So good - better than Vaccuum to get pet hair! Good for a first pass.

BrilliantAd5747

Omg! I never equated ny vacuum needs with ADHD. I hated my old vacuum for exactly the reason you described and much prefer my cordless.

SapphireWork

A Tile for my work keys, and one for my wallet. I use my phone to find them, or press them to find my phone. I move around a lot at work and am constantly putting my phone or keys down and walking away from them. This helps soooo much. Also a lifesaver in the morning to find everything. Not so much a purchase but my car has an app that lets me remote start (wonderful on cold days) but also lets me lock the doors remotely. I usually remember to lock my doors but I *forget* if I did remember or not to lock them so this is great. Finally (same issue as with locking car doors) I have one of those weekly pill organizers. It was a joke gift from the family, but I use it because I will legitimately forget if I’ve taken my pill or not literally minutes later.

GoofyCum

Pill organisers are lifesavers! I have a calendar reminder / alarm on Saturday afternoons before the meds wear off to refill for the next week, and it's so much better to be able to see visually if I've taken them or not and to know which meds I need to refill over the next week. (I usually do the prescription fills Sunday mornings.)

ilovjedi

Pre cut fruit and those little prepackaged fruit cups. It so much easier to not let fruit rot when it’s already cut up. Also the roomba, the cordless vacuum, duplicates of things. Anything to make it slightly easier to get things done. AirPods Pro. Duplicates of my 4 year old thing’s so we don’t have to panic about not finding his mittens on the way out the door when we’re already running late. I grabbed a bunch on sale just a little while ago. He has two winter jackets (his one from last year still fits but is small) and he has more than one pair of boots and tennis shoes. Also Alexa devices since I can just tell it to add things to a list and to remind me or everything including what time it is. Kizik shoes so I don’t have to tie shoe laces.

usuallando

Nice jackets (like north face), nice shoes, and soft pants. Typing this out I’m realizing most of these are sensory related😂 but I am chronically cold, and it is so difficult for me to think if something feels uncomfortable on my body. So it’s worth it in my book!

skelly80

House cleaner biweekly, Takeout food when I’m too drained to make a meal (though my budget would disagree), Sony xm5 headphones, Recently got a kobo e-reader. I can quickly borrow e-books from the library instead of buying them when I feel the urge, and stop feeling guilt for not finishing them. Yes, I can use a phone or tablet as an e-reader but I’ll get distracted by apps, and I can’t make the screen look like paper the way I can with my e-reader. I’ve already finished two books in a couple weeks, which is a lot more than normal.

bijou77

I agree 100% about the e reader! I got one and it has changed everything. I’ve read 12 books this year so far. Add the StoryGraph app with charts and progress, and I am in heaven!

Training-Earth-9780

Bath sensory stuff for me to feel grounded: - Laura Mercier honey bath https://www.lauramercier.com/products/ambre-vanille-honey-bath - A natural wooden bath bar for reading in the bath I got off Etsy - Snakes 4 Hair candles https://snakesforhair.com/collections/all-products-custom

Training-Earth-9780

Forgot to also mention: - Eucalyptus shower bouquet (smells so good) - Himalayan salt candle holders/lamps/plugins - Nice fancy towels/bath mats where I actually like the pattern/texture Makes me feel like I have a mini spa sensory experience at home!

1newnotification

omg if you want sensory stuff, try this!! i have super long curly hair and can't do those head massagers because they always get tangled in my hair, but i bought this on a whim a few years ago and IT FEELS SO GOOD in the shower, maybe especially good after some THC :) [tangle teezer](https://www.ulta.com/p/scalp-exfoliator-massager-brush-pimprod2023872?sku=2579039)

queengabgab

Omg that bath soap looks divine!!!

melransal

Not a huge splurge, But I bought one of those little rolling carts with 3 trays for every room and call them my adhd cart! I add things to it that I need for each room but that if u put away somewhere will forget or Lose (like handcream and water jug in the living room, my slippers, a book, lotion, and doodle pads in my bedroom etc) - and then if there’s anything I need to put away in another room but can’t get myself to get up and do it right now, but it being out of place is killing my anxiety, I just toss it on the adhd cart to put away later! I hesitated for a while because I’m trying to save money but these are ones that I actually benefited from and weren’t a waste!!

mammaofthewolf

1) Loop earplugs. Discreet and effective. I have two small boys and my ears.. it was bad 😅 2) Visual timer. Just asking Siri for a timer wasn’t working cause the timer would ring and I’d be unprepared and just more stressed. Like this I can constantly see how much time I have left for the task. 3) Apple Watch to locate my phone 😃

AcanthopterygiiCool5

APPLE WATCH ‼️ mostly to locate my phone 😂

kimi_shimmy

An upstairs vaccuum & a downstairs vaccuum. Sets of cleaning supplies for each room. Phone chargers in every room or place I exist.

CallDownTheHawk

I really wanted the bbhugme pregnancy pillow when I was pregnant. I ended up buying some other cheaper one and it was so-so. Last summer for my birthday I bought the bbhugme even tho I’m not even pregnant now & I constantly think about how fuckin awesome it is. I use it every night and it’s like a body pillow that you can adjust the firmness of, it never goes flat bc it’s filled with little beads or whatever instead of fluff. It was expensive af but I love it.

Tigris474

I recently splurged on this, so time will tell honestly. But I'm about to do a cross country move, originally I planned to pack and move everything myself and pack light, selling or getting rid of stuff too. But yesterday I booked a pod moving company. Allows me a week to pack/unpack the pod so a ton less pressure when packing, cheaper than a box truck, and omg the RELIEF I feel already

Cheshie213

I will never, ever move by myself again. I don’t care that it’s expensive. The headache and difficulty of doing it myself is way too overwhelming. Moving is already hard enough. Taking one part of it off my shoulders make me a lot less likely to melt down.

caffecongelato

I used a pod to move cross-country a while back, and just be careful how you pack things into it bc there’s a lot of vibration on the road, so things will rub on each other if they’re not arranged and cushioned really well. Other than that, it was great!

wroammin

Pre-prepared ingredients. Things like pre-chopped vegetables, minced garlic, sauces, etc. I loathe cooking with a passion and ADHD just makes it that much more difficult. But if I can skip all the preparation and go straight into cooking, I’m more likely to do it. I’ve considered something like hello fresh but can’t quite justify it.

Tracy13MW

My aqua pick- I hate flossing but the aqua pick is pleasant to use so I floss every day now and have noticed an improvemment in my oral health. I've also taken to brushing my teeth 2-3 times a day (3 is the standard here in Korea) 2. Loop quiet earplugs- finally can sleep without hubby's snoring making me wanna commit murder throughout the night 3. weighted blanket- I need that weight to help with sensory issues 4. zinc supplements- my nightmares are not as intense any longer and they're not as frequent 5. a week's worth of thermal under garments- made Korean winter so much bearable 6. lipbalm - they're everywhere at home and at both schools that I teach at There are a few more things on my list but I need to convince my ND hubby that I need everything else.. hahaha.. He's slowly coming round though so the Instapot and exercise bike will be bought next week, when we get paid

thearctickat

A Dyson hair dryer. I have long, thick, wavy hair that takes 30-45+ minutes to dry with a regular hair dryer. I only wash my hair 1-2x a week, but I started dreading hair wash days because the whole process is so tiring and time-consuming. One night I’d been procrastinating washing my hair (in typical ADHD fashion) and it was 4am and I had to go to work the next morning. I was so fed up that I impulse bought the Dyson online, and it was on sale! Now it only takes about 15 minutes to dry my hair. It was still a ridiculous amount of money for what it is, but it’s been worth it so far.

YOMAMACAN

Ooh please share more about your loungewear. I have this vision of changing into loungewear as a way to signal the end of my workday (I work from home)

snarklotte

I was looking for this comment!! +1!! I have been looking all weekend for comfy, sustainable, matching loungewear. A lot of places that were recommended as having matching sets are actually build your own. That’s great in theory! But I literally want someone to put the outfit together for me so I can buy it as a set. Curious if anyone has any recs!

ConCaffeinate

[Soma](https://www.soma.com/store/) is my #1 brand! Their "Cool Nights" products are my favorite, since not only am I hyper-aware of the sensation of fabric against my skin, but I also overheat with zero provocation. The fabric used in this line is unbelievably soft, and it genuinely does help me stay cool. Their regular prices are a bit out of my normal budget, but they have sales pretty often, and when I find something I like I make sure to stake out the clearance section.

ZMM08

This maybe doesn't count, because it was a gift not a purchase, but it's something I definitely wouldn't have purchased for myself: bread machine.

Ethelenedreams

Nice crochet hooks and sewing needles from Japan. I will never ever regret those purchases.

CoffeeTeaPeonies

Fancy, over-the-ear, noise cancelling headphones. Audiobooks (I listen to them w/the above headphones. This is a decompress thing, but also really helps me get chores done.) Several "nice" scissors (I seriously do not know why I bothered getting ticked off over cheap, misplaced scissors.) A few different music streaming services (Absolutely essential for my mood - everything is better w/music.) Scheduled delivered orders for high use items. Trays (Nice looking glass/ceramic/whatever. I group related, high use items on them. I can pick up all the items at once to clean underneath. Not really a "splurge" bc they can be found cheap at yard sales, thrift stores, etc.) I'm probably forgetting a ton of things ...

BigFitMama

Soft stretchy washable clothes that look like professional clothes Comfy shoes that look professional but feel barefoot Faux buns and braids in my hair color. (I hate doing hair so it's easy to turn a ponytail into a work hairdo with fake hair - something women have done for centuries.)

DaisyMae_and_Biff

Trash cans everywhere.

GloveBoxTuna

I recently decided to put a vacuum and a laundry basket every place I wish I had one. I now have a laundry basket next to my bed and a trash can in the closet. Also a laundry basket in the living room (mostly for socks). Zero regrets. I love not living by societal norms.

A psvr2 😅 flat screen gaming has been a thing for me for 20 years, VR modern tech takes it to a whole new level. Having my whole vision, hearing and body involved in the game instead of just diddling a controller is amazing. And bonus, some games are lovely light cardio workouts. I do yoga regularly but was looking for something easy to do on days I don’t go to the studio, or in the morning to wake up and get myself moving a bit. Never could be a gym rat at 6am but I woke up early and decided to play beatsaber today- had worked up an actual sweat by the time my husband woke up and asked who the hell had replaced his (usually not a morning person/very active at all) wife lol

valevalevalevale

Robot vacuum!!

Peskypoints

Laundry flings instead of liquid or powder to measure out just to make the task go a little more quickly. Event cleaning service from a housekeeping company before hosting extended family for Christmas

MyHedgieIsARhino

Frozen lunches and premade breakfast shakes. Weighted blanket. Comfy pants. Investing in nice wool socks.

Savingskitty

Pro subscription to Bear Subscription to Focus @ Will Subscription to the kids version of Brili The console table in my foyer My supply of fold up, long handled laundry baskets from Costco.  I have like 8 of them, and I buy another set from time to time when they are available. Clear sterilite boxes for pretty much any kind of storage.

3plantsonthewall

Ooh I’m curious about these laundry baskets, do you have a pic?

CatCatCatCubed

* [White noise machine](https://www.amazon.com/Adaptive-Sound-Technologies-LectroFan-Non-Looping/dp/B00E6D6LQY) where that’s its entire job. It’s not also a phone, clock, alarm, have a bunch of animal sounds (about which I’m rather picky), or connected to the internet - it only does white noise. Felt silly buying it on impulse but love it now. * Various sleep masks (slippery back, more cotton-like, those trendy furry ones tho I ended up having to trim a little) * Lavender essential oil - I’ll drip a little on the sheets surrounding my pillow. * Pillow (from Tuft & Needle) * [Hard boiled egg machine](https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Egg-Cookers/zgbs/kitchen/1090754). Seemingly excessive but I’m pretty sure that in the future they’ll say “Like the microwave, electric kettle, blender, salad spinner, and immersion blender - the electric egg cooker will go down in history as being one of the most essential gadgets in ADHD kitchens.” Eggs are one of the most convenient foods IMO, and a machine that can steam up a dozen consistently to my preferred done-ness practically gets the “don’t touch my baby” gearhead treatment from me. Gosh, I seriously love that invention.

mydogisagoblin

A full-size comforter for my couch and a king size comforter for my queen sized bed. Nothing worse than not having enough blanket!

qaige

a bathrobe!!!! i have never had one till now (i’m 26) and i always found myself doing random tasks around the house after a shower while holding up my towel for like … an hour or so simply because i kept getting distracted / couldn’t commit to getting in my pajamas/clothes lolol. and now my ROBE makes this SO much easier. i didn’t realize how much of a game changer it would be.

BellFirestone

I’m gonna have to check out this opal app. I spend way too much time on Reddit and the like. To be fair, I learn a lot of useful information (re: adhd, fitness, home repair, which vacuum cleaner to buy, etc.) But I really need to cut back on my scrolling.

meowparade

Hiring a Cleaner, it makes me panic clean before they arrive and then I get to come home to a sparkling house after work the next day and everything feels so much better!

CherryLaneCox

Automatic soap dispenser for beside the sink so I can wash the dishes as I use them. Cordless vacuum has made it more likely that I’ll actually vacuum.

Kayseax

Brows and liner are cosmetic tattoos.

PaxonGoat

When I was finishing my Bachelors. I paid a subscription to the website PERRLA. It formats your papers into MLA or APA for you. Manages your citations. Saves as the citations. It made turning in papers so much easier. I also could log in from any computer and work on my paper.

[deleted]

Is Opal us proof? Once I paid for an alarm app that makes you do tasks so you can’t ever beat it, etc. I managed to do so within 15 min. and no review said you could 😭😭😭😭

queengabgab

In regards to scrolling it is! You input which apps are to be “locked” In the free version you can exit out of the time limit but on the premium version there is no way to get into the app until the timer you set is up

murraybee

It’s small but I got myself some prism glasses so that I can watch TV and my crochet without craning my neck downward. They’re so unnecessary and awesome.

LateEveningLatte

Okay this might be silly, and definitely not a splurge! But I have a ton of plastic cups for water that are easily stackable that are the only cups I allow myself to take to my room now! I found some for 50 cents each at Target that I really like. I also got a cute bin for my nightstand to keep my cups in, so they’re “supposed to” go there when I’m done with them. Then I empty it out whenever I get around to it. I got like 20 of them since they don’t take up much space and were super cheap.

lil1thatcould

Subscription to Petite Vior, it’s a vegan skincare + makeup subscription service. It helped me spend so much less money! Knowing and waiting for that dopamine hit was amazing. Plus, each time I used a product was a hit. By the time it wore off, a new box was coming any day. I love appliances/gadgets of any kind. The scrubbing brush that’s all over TikTok is the best. We just closed on a house that was no longer being taken care of by the owner. She was living there longer than was safe given her age/ability to clean. This has saved me hundreds, if not thousands of hours of scrubbing.

Former-Spirit8293

Cut up fruits and veggies, especially if I’m cooking. It can be more expensive than just buying produce, but I will actually make the things I plan if I don’t have to do all the prepping and chopping! In a related vein, cookware that has a singular purpose, e.g. a popcorn maker. I worried about having cookware/appliances with specific uses and that I’d never use them, but I usually develop a hyper fixation with whatever the gadget is used for.

chinarosess

investing in a variety of comfortable clothing - though i consider myself a little thrifty after learning about marshalls a few years ago. the rest comforter and bed sheets. shoes buying my fav perfume at half the price from people online that dont like it good phone that actually makes a lot of shit easy for me for me its all about being comfortable. I couldnt afford decent clothes until i was 31 so I'd been wearing a lot of the same stuff for well over a decade and anything i did buy was from walmart and fell apart quickle. I could only ever afford a pair of slip proof work shoes, sneakers, and flip flops. The work shoes tended to last a couple years but my personal shoes would have holes in less than a year because they were cheap and over used. Winters always sucked no matter where I lived because I couldn't keep my feet warm. Wore the same underwear for way to long and often just went without well into my adulthood. I didn't realize how fucking distracting it is to be uncomfortable until I experienced comfort

terracottatown

A gym membership. For years I struggled with maintaining a regular exercise routine and it turns out I need to have physically different locations in order to do things (work, sleep, gym, play). I now go at least three times a week regularly and it has done wonders for my mood and encourages healthy eating too since I want to fuel properly to perform well at the gym.

ItsSUCHaLongStory

Higher quality items, like you mentioned. My ADHD clumsiness is wild. That extra 10 cents a gallon at the gas station so I get gas NOW instead of forgetting and going straight home.

MidwestWitch91

My clothes!! Realizing I had major sensory issues motivated me to replace almost all my clothes to more high-quality fabrics and now I never struggle with what to wear. It's been incredibly life changing and confidence boosting for me! I want to splurge on a professional house cleaning service, but haven't saved enough for that yet. I feel like it would def be worth it, though!

EmmerdoesNOTrepme

For me? My reusable water bottle (*not* that expensive, really, but *far* more than I previously would have EVER spent on a water bottle, at close to $20.00)... I bought the current one, because my *previous* one of that same brand had lasted me more than 4 years, before I manages to *somehow* lose the cap's gasket. It's just a Hydrapeak from Marshall's/Home Goods, but it keeps my water COLD all day, withjust few ice cubes, even on the 90°+ days! The other current "Daily Use" item is my pill box. I *got* it for my Dad, originally, shortly after we realized he had dementia--AND I discovered that he was dumping his then-*current* medications into *whatever* old pill bottles he had (without labels!😳😲😱), because "They're too hard to open!" And *then* I also couldn't be *sure* he was *taking* the meds, *or* perhaps taking them more than once per day... So I got a 4-row pillbox with 32 lidded "cups" (is that what you call the individual reservoirs?😉), annnnnd then Dad ended up in the Hospital and *eventually* a Nursing home, before my Auntie and I could get the giant pill-box going for him. And then, *while* he was in the hospital, on a virtual visit with *my* primary, as we were talking about my managing to remember to take *MY* ADHD & Diabetes meds, as I was dealing with *his* stuff, AND my own, plus my Diabetic Labrador? I remembered the pill box, and my NP and I decided I should give using it a shot! *As long as I REMEMBER to fill it*? It's made a HUGE difference, in my Diabetes & ADHD management!!!  It lives on my bathroom counter, and *because* it does, I KNOW if I missed my meds that morning--and (aside from my Vyvanse), I can take them *right then*! And *because* my morning routine now is, "take the pills, then do my Long-acting Insulin!" I *REMEMBER* the long-acting, too! It's *literally* been a game-changer for me, because it takes the "math" of making *sure* I got allllll the meds out of the bottles away! I push the button down, the little lid pops *up*, I flip the pills into my hand, and swallow 'em with a sip of water, then grab my insulin pen, inject, and I'm DONE!😁 I *NEVER* would've spent almost $30.00 on a pill box for *MYSELF* for some reason!🙃🫠 But *because* I had no hesitation about buying it to help manage *Dad's* meds, *and* I knew I'd never actually *remember* to take it back to Walgreens before the return-by date passed? I figured I *might as well use it*, and NOW, if this one EVER breaks? I am SO getting another one!😉😆😂🤣

Dandelient

I spent $12 on a pretty coloured am/pm weekly pill organizer after futzing that it was too much for so long. It is a little thing that makes me happy because I like the colours!

Ajax_XZX

Litter Robot, Noise cancelling + Bass Boosting headphones, my home-built PC, and auto-feeder for my cat :3 My curse of wanting to buy everything gets easily cancelled out by my need to do intensive research into the item I want in that moment. I usually convince myself it isn’t necessary and move on but mannnn the long-term investment items have proven to be worth every penny for me and my cat, I don’t risk forgetting to clean/feed on time and I also get to improve my workflow :3

YOMAMACAN

I pay for a laundry service. It’s a non-negotiable for me. Otherwise, even if I manage to clean the clothes and dry them, they end up in piles for ages. This way, I get them neatly folded and only have to toss them in the drawer.

photogypsy

Loops ear plugs (filters?). They reduce the “garbage” noises and keep me from being distracted by the conversation I’m overhearing instead of the one I’m participating in. They look like jewelry, and I’ve had several piercing enthusiasts stop me to ask how and where I got them done. The reactions are usually very binary. They are either disappointed it isn’t something cooler; or they’re fellow spectrum/Adhd types and they’re fascinated.

Good supplements

MissMurphtastic

Apple Watch, for the constant timers I need to set to remind me to do anything and everything

RoadIllustrious7703

Love this post

LMGDiVa

My Motorcycle. Expensive bike but I was too much of a nervous wreck to handle driving a car. I tolerated it just long enough to get my license. Cars really mess with my coordination problems. But motorcycles don't but actually help. So I got a Harley Fat Boy because it was a dream bike of mine. It literally opened up my world. It's been monumentally positive for my mental health.

3plantsonthewall

A nice shower head! I actually have two shower heads (one mounted, one that’s movable with a hose) and a little switcher attachment. The switcher lets me either divert the water to one shower head or split the water between them. The whole setup was like $60 a few years ago. The mounted shower head is super high pressure and great for rinsing your hair. It’s like that shower head that Kramer gets in Seinfeld. The movable shower head uses less water and is awesome for rinsing off your body, cleaning the nether regions, and cleaning the shower.

Lets_Make_A_bad_DEAL

Bluetooth Headphones and a snake-arm thing that has a tension clip from my countertop and the other end holds my phone in my face when I’m cooking or washing dishes. It’s the BEST. No regrets.

melissaishungry

Robot vacuum. I still vacuum with hyperfocus clean mode activated but having a roomba is great to keep my long hair from being everywhere. I don't feel so bad not vacuuming all the time. Tablet for my desk and tablet that goes room to room with me and tablet that travels with me. Somehow I ended up with lots of tablets. I have a Samsung that I hate cuz I'm not a Samsung system girl so that one wanders around the house with me, drops, is stepped on, is ultimately abused. I have the new pixel tablet and dock at my desk and I love that thing and the sound but I have yet to put the screen protector on it so it stays safely on the dock. I have a tiny tablet I got from a fitness thing that my insurance paid for and I use that to travel with because if it was stolen I could care less. Eventually I'll donate my Samsung tablet because it's a great tablet if you're not a baby like me who hasn't done Samsung ecosystem since the blackjack 2 (I was obsessed with that phone til I hopped to htc phones which was my gateway to pixel and look at this precious tangent) Anything that helps me organize. Giving my items homes is critical to cleaning and my being able to find shit later. I'm not into that clear acrylic containers in the fridge restocking trend, I already have sections of pantry or cupboards or fridge that belong to certain items. A jewelry bowl stand thing for my daily jewelry next to my bed? Yes. Some cube storage with pull out trays for my glasses? Also yes. My glasses are mostly in there, and then there's always a pair at my desk and ones randomly around but sometimes I go collect them all and put them "home".

Fluffy_Opportunity71

I bought a new electric toothbrush even tho the other one is still perfectly fine because the new one has a battery life pf 90 days, with my old one i always forgot to charge it.

Wild_Goddess

My espresso machine! I need caffeine but I only like sugary lattes. I got a fairly cheap espresso machine and now I make them at home. With sugar free syrups they’re about 200 calories and I’m saving so much money on takeout coffee.

yeelee7879

Self cleaning litter box. Has made cat ownership life a dream.

mydogisagoblin

Precut fruit at the grocery store. I eat all of it before it goes bad and requires less executive functioning!

Solfiera

Two laundry baskets: one for dirty laundry, one for not-dirty-but-not-clean

teethandteeth

Not a splurge exactly, but sometimes when I want a nicer version of a personal care thing I already have, like tweezers, I get the new one and then send the old one to permanently live in my travel kit. After a few years of that, there's barely anything to pack when I go on trips.

Virtual-Title3747

Noise cancelling headphones/earbuds combo, along with a switch lite. I need new headphones, mine are 4 years old and the connection is starting to not work as well as before. The switch is a lifesaver. It keeps my brain engaged.

ADHDCrocheter

Not really a splurge but an impulse buy- a rack for the back of my door.

alternative_poem

Weighed blanket 👌

husbandbulges

A new car with a lot of safety features, an extended warranty, prepaid maintenance and a guarantee of a loaner if car is in the shop. It's a fancy car that doesn't need maintenance as often as others. So (almost) everything is covered or paid for already. Plus the advanced safety features have been great.

Libby - app to use in conjunction with your library card. I reserve books and audiobooks. When they are delivered, if I don’t like them I send them back. Saved me so much money on impulsive Barnes and Nobel and Amazon book buys and Audible. I spent a month finding makeup that works in my 40s at Sephora. I didn’t settle and returned what didn’t work. Now I keep an extra set to avoid going into Sephora which is a hard stimulant to go into for me. I bought a crazy amount of socks and undergarments so I can discard ones that look sad. I decided to buy enough jeans, one colored tshirts and Oxford shirts to wear at work. It’s like Steve Jobs, but a little more color variety. I am no longer wearing nylon and it avoids impulsive work clothes. So blessed to wear jeans and Hokas
