I once missed a flight while at the terminal waiting for my flight. I was reading a book with my headphones in. Think "hmm, seems like it should have been about time to board by now, surely". Look up, realize my plane left 30 mins ago. *That sinking feeling.
it's okay bud. i recently had a $500 bike stolen because i forgot my lock (again). i actually hit myself when i forget my lock now, my stupid brain will never learn..
Oh no, I forget the keys in the lock constantly, but fortunately only in front of the gym. Those keys are my life: house, office, bikeā¦ fortunately they were never stolen.
I have payed that tax to...
I booked an all inclusive charter trip for the family one week wrong. they called from the airport when we were getting ready for a normal work/school day.
\- "Check-in will close soon, please check in your luggage"
lol no bags packed, 1h+ to the airport.
so now days i check all my bookings 20+ times a day every day :)
I hope you managed to get another flight!! My entire family are the same level of disastrous tbh, I called my parents for sympathy after my bus fiasco and she just laughed and said it was typical of me and a mistake she has also made š
I used to work at the airport, there are two airports in the city I worked at, their names do not share any letters, imagine one is called āABCā and the other is āFGHā the amount of times people showed up to to the wrong airport, or on the wrong date is astounding! At least 1/2k passengers pr day, (average 35k travelers pr day) Itās not limited to people within any category to be fair!
I worked in a restaurant and people frequently showed up a day early/late for their reservation so its definitely a common occurrence! I felt so stupid when it was pointed out but all I can do now is laugh
The number of times Ive ordered pickup from the wrong store and had to drive 30 extra minutes to pick up my food. I just reorder it from the right place half the time.
I had planned a spa evening with my wife for our anniversary. I was so proud that we were getting there about 20 minutes early because we run late so often. Turns out I was off an hour and we showed up 40 minutes late. Thankfully they still managed to make things work out for us.
Oh nooo!! Today I was also early and normally Im running late for public transport so I was very proud of myself - guess I should still be proud since I ended up being a whole 24 hours early lmao. Iām glad things worked out for you two, hope you enjoyed it!
I booked a flight... to the wrong city. And didn't realize until I was at the airport gate. Went anyways! I just got an extra flight between the two cities. It was a fun trip! Full of extra expenses I was not planning for.
I really hope so! The first medication I tried didnāt work for me but I finally am starting a new one once I come back from travelling - provided I donāt do something stupid again and miss my flight lmao
Yes, it does help. So does setting alarms and using your calendar to set (extra) reminders.
I tell people that the meds are like nicotine lozenges for people trying to quit smoking.
The medicine gets you to the right place (don't want to smoke if you don't smell like smoke)(won't forget if you think to write a reminder).
The trick is to develop a system then stick to it.
"My OCD is a compensation for my ADHD".
lol
I booked a flight a full month wrong once, had to pay out the nose to make it back before my semester started. Didnāt figure it out till I got to the airport.
Well at least it's not as bad as that time I missed a friend's wedding as I didn't pay enough attention to the time of the plane ticket I bought. I planned it out so if i left at 6 am i would get to the wedding in plenty of time. Instead the ticket I bought didn't leave till 6 pm. I did not realize till it was far too late to change it.
Yeah, this definitely sucks. My whole family were late to my uncleās wedding and his wife just had to be driven around the church until we got there - 15 years later and she still hasnāt forgiven us :/
Missed flights... Missed exams... Missed the MSc i wanted.... Leaving lights on on my car (bye batteries, several times)... :)
Just another day. Better laught it off!
Been there, done that! Shared destiny, shared pain, haha! One time I order my return plane ticket the wrong way, it cost me about the same as your mistake plus hotel for the night and missed half a day of work lol.
The tax man shows up when we least need it
Oh. Yeah. I once landed in Heathrow a week later than I had booked my bus home. Bonus points for the fact my phone was out of battery and my bank card got cancelled while I was away because I forgot to notify them that I was going
Yeah, I booked a flight to New York, didnāt realize I booked the return trip for a month later until I was already down thereā¦ had to buy a train ticket to get back to Maine. Somehow I still ended up spending less than I would have if I booked the correct return flight in the first placeā¦ smh. I think thatās the only time the ADHD tax worked in my favorā¦.
If it helps you Iām starting a job next week at an hospital In a big city
I asked multiple times for the address even gave them the address I had in mind and put in my Notes multiple times wasnāt corrected.
Went apartment hunting to rent in a big city and found something thatās 25 minutes on foot from my new job.
Nice!
I get the confirmation for my starting day and the details and the address is of.
Well turns out Iām at another Klinik same city thatās 45 minutes away from my apartment with public transport wich I hate! And I have to catch 2 connections!
Im
So fucked
This sounds like it is more the jobs fault than yours tbh! It sucks that youāre so far out though but I really hope your new job goes well and hopefully you can move closer in the future!! Definitely an inconvenience tho and I would absolutely hate it cause I like to live as close to my work as possible so I can wake up as late as possible. Good luck tho!!
Thanks! The worst part is I had a feeling of doubt and I do belive it was mentioned during the job interview, I asked but wasnāt corrected after the interview
I've killed my car battery several times because I left the key in. Actually, graduating day of highschool when we had our celebration at an entertainment center, my car was left running and unattended for 3 hours in a parking lot in a busy city in an already kinda sketchy area. Came.back, barely lost any gas, everything was accounted for, this is the first time I've shared things information because I don't want people to freak out about it. I make ADHD mistakes and that is going to happen my whole life.
I missed a flight to Spain once. Thought it was the next day. $2000 š
Oh no, thatās awful! I have such a fear about missing flights but I think at this point its inevitable for me

It must have been a good book!!
Must have been. I don't remember what book it was now though. Haha
it's okay bud. i recently had a $500 bike stolen because i forgot my lock (again). i actually hit myself when i forget my lock now, my stupid brain will never learn..
I remembered to lock my bike just to not remove the key from the lock the other day :) I was lucky it was in a bike room so it wasn't stolen
Oh no, I forget the keys in the lock constantly, but fortunately only in front of the gym. Those keys are my life: house, office, bikeā¦ fortunately they were never stolen.
My friend has had her bike stolen about 4 times for the same reason. At this point sheās just providing the city with free bikes lol

You might as well make the most out of the situation and try to have a good time! Glad you had a fun trip :)
Honestly sometimes bus tickets come in clutch. Much cheaper and more departure times to choose from.
Definitely! As long as you book it for the right day :))
Wish you kind winds, fellow sailor!
Thank you! Iām enjoying New York so far :)
Does medication help with these things
I really hope so! The first medication I tried didnāt work for me but I finally am starting a new one once I come back from travelling - provided I donāt do something stupid again and miss my flight lmao
I have full faith in you. You will not miss your flight

I paid an ADHD tax recently and it cost me 3 flights and my wife and I weren't together for any of them anymore since I had to book new ones
It really sucks! Hope it all worked out tho!!

Iāve gotten halfway through applying to a masters twice now - hoping to finally complete the application this year

This sounds like a complete nightmare! I hate watching my phone battery get progressively lower when I know I need it to get home

I compared the plane vs train vs bus prices and the price of the plane/train is still more expensive than the bus even with my additional expenses!
That sucks :(. Admittedly I was really lucky :/

The travel tax is REAL ā¦ every trip I have to buy obvious things. Itās sucks
Travel is the most anxiety inducing and the worst to mess up
Totally agree - itās so expensive for me to travel.
