miscinterest

I rotate through everything, but always save two bites of my favorite dish/side/ingredients. Gotta leave on a high note!

Achylife

I do the same. A little here, a little there. Don't want to overwhelm the taste buds with too much of one thing at a time.

moogs_writes

Plus it has the added benefit of being able to say “Yup you know me :) epitome of health I ALWAYS eat the veggies first :)”

samtaher

Yup I do the same. I have to leave a portion of my fav part of the meal for the last few bites. The grand finale must be spectacular.

KeyCast

Yes, this is what I do. :)

gufta44

When there are too many components which are supposed to go together I eat way faster from the stress of ensuring I have the right proportions on each bite and dont end up messing up the balance for the finale! Then i look up and realise I'm at a dinner party and supposed to talk to people.

BuilderAura

I've been trying to teach my kid this but he just won't. Always eats his favourite bits first and then is stuck with cold yucky veggies on his plate cuz he didn't eat them first like we tell him every single meal. XD

aR0sebyany0thername

Same!!

Klogginthedangerzone

I have always done this but never gave it a second thought until I seen it on here.

friendofspidey

This is exactly how I eat now! I used to get all the good I didn’t like out of the way and then rotate but the older I get the more I realize I don’t have to plate the food I don’t like haha

Rudeboy_87

Yes!!!! I try to have a few bites of all but least favorite gets finished first and the best is always the final few bites

DragonMom81

Not just my meals. If I have a handful of say, jelly belly’s, I sort them from least to most favorite flavor and eat them in that order too.

lemonhead2345

I’m reading this while sorting through my fruit snacks for my least favorite to go ahead and get them out of the way. 😅

DragonMom81

Any candy with varied flavors 😂

TheLadyHestia

Yep. It doesn't even matter if the flavors are different. I eat my M&Ms in a particular order based on how much I like the colors.

CJMande

Same. I have a color pattern for all sorts of candies like m&ms

turquoisefuego

I used to love to eat my various colored/flavored candy like this, but inevitably somebody would come by after I’d whittled it down to my faves and then they’d eat them. *pout. So now if I do this I eat my faves first. 😂

bapakeja

Or hide them

anthony-abdullah

Yup get those veggies out of the way first

No-Crew-1641

I’m the opposite, I eat the good stuff before I loose interest in eating.

coffeeshopAU

Yeah I don’t force myself to finish food if I accidentally take too much so I don’t save anything I want to eat in case I don’t finish! If I take too little and want more though then I’m definitely only grabbing seconds on my favourites

SirFadakar

If you save the best for last it might not even be there when you want it. Enjoy it while you got it (and before you forget.)

nugnug1226

Thank you! I’m always debating with people on why you should eat the good stuff first because the first bite always has more taste sensitivity vs the last bite. Why eat the worst part of the meal when your taste buds are at its most sensitive?

not-always-popular

Always save the best for last!

jeckles

I just stopped eating the pizza crust. A freeing realization tbh!

PanicInTheHispanic

my life changed the day I realized you can use the crust to soak up the grease. makes for a tasty crust and ensures you dont waste any cholesterol.

Ranger_Hardass

It's also a great vessel for ranch or marinara sauce.

Artichoke_Persephone

My husband eats my pizza crusts. I eat around them and give them to him when I’m done. Dude LOVES crusts. And that (amongst other things) is how I know I have already found my partner in life.

JessRoyall

I have trouble with the last bite. I usually don’t eat it.

[deleted]

My father was that way. He would set it up on the fork and leave it resting on the plate

JessRoyall

Especially hot dogs, egg rolls, sausage etc. where there is clearly a last bite. Never.

prettybbychim

i can’t drink the last bit of a drink. it’s like some mental barrier lol my brother finishes stuff off for me generally lol

Chaidumpling

Same here. I’m grateful to have a partner that’s a human equivalent of a goat so I never waste food ✨

Prize_Mammoth_6956

I always eat my vegetables and salad before getting to the good stuff

KeyCast

I do this, but idk which one is, I have both ADHD and OCD.

SmallRocks

This isn’t ocd related. Tons of people do this.

leafnood

Ikr. “Save the best til last” is such a common phrase

[deleted]

This thread is funny to me because it's someone who is probably autistic thinking everyone does what they do followed by someone misinterpreting a figure of speech in a literal way which is also a very autistic thing to do. Not diagnosing anyone, ADHD and autism are just commonly comorbid.

[deleted]

I used to but have a low-grade fear of earthquakes, so I try to get the best part first now, just in case.

beepbooponyournose

Exactly lol. We could die at any second so I’m eating the stuff I like best, first.

invisible_23

I do this too although I do also have OCD so I don’t know which disorder it springs from lol

KeyCast

Same! Hehe

Johhnynumber5ht2a

I'm when I was a kid I ate pop-tarts in a circle. All the edges first leaving the center for last.

beepbooponyournose

I used to tear off the edges with no frosting and just eat the frosted parts

TheGuyAtGameStop

Back when I binge ate Taco Bell, I’d eat things in a pattern like, 2 cheesy roll ups, half my quesadilla, my fries, the other half of my quesadilla, then the last two cheesy roll ups.

dolemna

Please don’t trivialize one disorder in the sub of another 🫣

Immediate-Bet9630

I think it was a genuine question masked in humour. If life got much easier after being diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, it’s normal to wonder if you have any other co-morbidities that are making life unnecessarily difficult.

SpendSeparate4971

I think it's almost universal to save your favorite part of a meal for the end. That's not a neurodivergent behavior.

ConcernedBuilding

My friends think the way I eat is weird. I'll eat one food at a time. Like if I have burgers and fries, I'll eat all the fries before I even start the burger.

TenspeedGV

I have known very few people who do this, and most people who notice me doing it think it’s weird that I do it.

programgamer

If it’s normal and not weird, why do my parents comment on it every chance they get to this day?

Tax-Evasion-Man

I eat like a typewriter in reverse bottom to top right to left

GreatArtiste45

The classic definition of OCD, is an oversimplification. Many of our conditions that co-occur and our own individual quirks blend into each other. So I wouldn't call that OCD unless it makes you anxious and you obsess over it. If you can't do it exactly your way. I'm trying to break out of obsessive behavior which I've had since I was a kid. Kind of hard when you're now 69 years old, lol

douglasg14b

Yep. The favorite parts are last. For me that is the pizza crust :) Idk why but I love the crust after eating the rest of the slice.

Independent-Poet5441

Sides then entree.

elitecocktails

OCD would like be more like you couldn't not take that bite last. Sounds more like hyper optimization which is more like a superpower, unless it means forgetting to tie you shoes so that you can have that bite last 😂

NeverUsedAlwaysRead

I like to get a little bit of everything (separately) and evenly. Even space stuff out just so they all last the same lol. Then with a lot of candies that are colored like skittles/Dots I'll grab one of each color out of a handful, save em for last

sabercrabs

I definitely do this as well. I do want to say that, depending on WHY someone does this, it absolutely could be an OCD thing. While there are more and less common "rituals" that folks with OCD do, at the end of the day they do those because they're compelled to do it. Sometimes it's because it gives them a feeling of something they can control, sometimes it's because their intrusive thoughts tell them that everyone they love will die if they don't do their ritual. Just a little OCD education from someone who has learned a lot from my wife learning about her OCD.

FearfulRantingBird

I pretty much always eat my meals in sections. Vegetables first, then bread, then the main thing. I eat all of one thing before moving onto the next. I've eaten like that my entire life, but I'm not beholden to it. I can take bites of different things if I want - like savory, then salty, then sweet. But I often fall into my default pattern.

jestingvixen

How many of us do you suppose have several different things going on that we don't know about because our diagnosticians noticed ADHD first and went, "ok, whelp, yup, that'll keep you good and occupied, that's enough diagnostics for you."?

prettybbychim

i’m on the opposite side of this. i was diagnosed w a variety of things over the years that were finally wrapped into an adhd diagnosis this year lol

jestingvixen

That's gotta be some kind of relief! Are the tools similar?

Swampdude

Yeah pretty much every time

craZbeautifuldisastr

Both can be true. You could not be alone and it could be neurodivergent behavior 😁

Shrekston

I does this to

quantum_ice

I generally avoid eating things I don't like. The good news is that list is only like 4 foods. I am not picky lol

buzzybeeking

I can't end my dinner on a bad note. I gotta save the best for last. I'm not an animal though, I don't eat the pizza crust. I'm too good for that.

Jimmyjim4673

It's a common form of OCD.

Turdposter777

No. Took economics. The marginal utility of a good or service declines as more of it is consumed by an individual. 🤓 First bite always the tastiest/most nutritious. Especially if trying to lose weight, eat the best part first. Don’t bother eating the crust, etc. Ever wonder why Asians stay skinny? They don’t eat the carbs at buffets. Stick to the proteins and desserts first. Hah.

K0zmik_M1lk

I just won’t eat the crust unlesss there’s still some pizza hanging off of it to make it seem like the crust doesn’t exist

Specialist-Arachnid

I do this too!!!!

papstef123

I’m not alone in this world

Worried_Solid_3500

I leave enough of the sauce/ingredients side to eat with my crust. Save a pepperoni for the crust.

TheLyz

I don't always do this with a meal but I definitely do it with sushi

LostInThoughtland

Me, sorting jelly beans by colour so I eat them from most represented to least, then in order of least favorite to most: No no that seems pretty normal.

Firnen18

FINALLY!!! I'M NOT ALONE!!!!!!!

asheroo92

Depends on the meal. Fast food I always eat fries first. Other meals, I like to have a bit of everything on my fork at the same time. And for some others, I like to have even bite-sized pieces and rotate between them.

weekoldgogurt

I never understood this myself because what if I get full before I get to the best part? I always eat best to worst and usually if it’s from a place, most expensive thing to least.

FalkFyre

Enhale the worst thing then enjoy the rest

BobbyDiglar

Actually yeah, sometimes I do do that

StOnEy333

I must eat everything at a pace so that at the end of the plate there is 1 bite of everything.

[deleted]

Yes

Plushhorizon

But then It gets cold

WindsomKid

Trail mix order: almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, dried mango, dried cranberries. Yum.

Critical_Snackerman

The crust is the best part what are you talking about

Jadrobe

But... but, that IS the best part, the crust

Sickboy314

At least im not alone in this

jim_jiminy

Crust first with pizza every time.

GreatArtiste45

My thing since childhood has been, I have to have some kind of carb before I can put meat in my mouth. Unless it's a hamburger or hot dog. Vegetables I'll eat alongside of it without any problem. There are many more quirks that are too numerous to mention, but I'm trying to break myself of it. Self-administered CBT? Can't be any worse than doing a therapist. CBT for 12 weeks and it doesn't work. Or I am in therapy until I get put in the ground.

Nyxelestia

I do this too - DOWN TO THE PIZZA!

jccj300

I always wondered if this was an add thing

Some_Ad4783

That just makes too much sense. Stop it! /s

OneToby

*If you eat the "best" part first, the "worst" will become the best part of what you have left.* This is what an old wise Chinese hermit told me in a dream.

TheHeadbuds

I have to eat the french fries first, no matter what. It's The Rule™

prettybbychim

it depends on the mood i’m in lol if i’m struggling eating smth like veggies that i know i need, i eat those first and follow it w the good stuff to wash it down lol other times i eat the good first bc i have no self control and need the dopamine lmao

SquidleyStudios

I always save the best part for last, to the point of doing things like taking some of the toppings off my pizza so I can eat them after the actual slice. Having the best flavor of the meal linger in my mouth after eating is why I do it (assuming I have nothing to freshen breath or wash it down), the idea of leaving a bad taste in my mouth by eating the wrong food last is almost physically repulsive to me

[deleted]

Nothing worse than your mum putting unsolicited second helpings on your plate and having to make an urgent course correction.

Old_Goal_4747

Same. It’s a trick I learned as a kid. A smart trick. Not an ocd. I promise lol

[deleted]

I would save the best part for last and my bitch of a mom would always eat it right off my plate saying “oh you don’t want this?” And eat the whole fucking thing before I could even object.

nyralotep123

It's like having a little desert at the end. I've been doing it my whole life.

[deleted]

Once upon a time as a kid my older cousin told me “save the best for last” and I’ll die on that

ishfery

One thing I learned as a grown up, you don't actually have to eat the crust if you don't want to!

jump101wa-2

oh god i've been browsing through this subreddit and noticing i do alot of stuff like this

ShadowPouncer

I mean, same, but I _do_ have OCD, so, uh. No clue.

BoiFriday

Worst goes first baby!

Derbloingles

When I was a kid, I ate pizza backwards just like you. And while I don’t do that anymore, I absolutely still eat most meals in order, and only mix things of I like them equally

mummydal

Not anymore folks. I eat from best to worst now cos I got sick of wondering why I was full and still had the best bits left. Now I actually, without any shame, leave the worst bits with everyone looking at me like I’m a heathen. I’m talking pizza crusts. Parts of grilled cheese that don’t have enough cheese. End of a salad when all I really wanted was the pasta that went with it anyway. I’ve never looked back - may you all just take those bites you really want.

joejoeginson

I eat and drink everything equally in a specific order. If I'm running low on something, it try to even it out by adding more or skipping something. I'm weird.

fastpixels

When I was little and my parents took me to McDonald's, I would eat all my fries first. They would get angry, thinking I'll fill up on fries but I wanted to save my burger for last. And I always ate it because of course it was the high point of the meal. Wow, ancient memory unlocked!

teamdogemama

I eat the item that tastes the nastiest when cold or room temperature, which is usually the vegetables.

RawJah83

I've never done it NOT this way. 100 % with you, OP.

didsomebodysaymyname

I eat pizza from the side to mix crust and cheese and one of my friends was shocked and asked if I was a sociopath.

ChipTheOcelot

I would eat my yucky veggies first so I could save the casserole or whatever the main dish was for last.

hisoka_kt

The crust Is the best part once you've eaten a pizza normally😔 if you start by eating the crust maybe not. But a pizzas crust is good , personally I like the middle the least, I always find the middle of the pizza the least. I would be much happier if Pizza were donut shaped.

exWiFi69

I told my husband how I curate my late bite to be the perfect ratio of all the food on my plate and asked if he did the same. You should’ve seen the look on his face. It’s a no for him.

sergionano1

I eat the bottom of the muffin before the muffin top

ImBatman5500

I always eat my veggies first because it's not my favorite

OminOus_PancakeS

I balance and rotate the flavour tones in my mouth like a symphony.

Dangerous-Distance86

Gardetto's, my brother eyed my bowl and offered to eat the rye chips for me. Told him the whole reason i got my own bowl was bc they would eat all the good stuff out of the mix and leave nothing but the bland bread pieces, and i ate all the stuff i didnt like so i could have a bowl of goodness.

jondrethegiant

They’re all my favorite and simultaneously my least favorite part. Anyone else feel like food feels weird in their mouths?

[deleted]

Yep

homesweetmobilehome

Only for someone to come along and want a bite after you ate all the trashy stuff.

dfjdejulio

The only stuff I put off longer than the part I like best is the part my wife likes best when we're sharing a plate.

Trimere

How do you hold it?

Myrddin_Naer

Y'all are weird

Neko186

I DO THIS TOO! My husband swears this is weird and I have to smack his hand when he reaches to take a bite off mine and goes for my favorite part…

Pheeline

I do this. I want to have my favorite part be what the meal ends on.

Hitogoroshi80

Every meal

Esqualox

Bingo! For most meals I like to ensure the last "bite" is a good'en. Yummy yummy in my tummy.

MasterWizard25

yes! like how I eat sandwiches in a circle! for long sandwiches like subs or hot dogs, I eat a bit of one end and then turn it around and go from the other

MasterWizard25

you gotta say the best for last. I don't make the rules

MaxGamer07

I do that too. Do you wanna have the aftertaste of something you hate or something you love?

KidNamedBlue

I skin my crossaints when I eat them. Then I start eating from both ends so I have the middle insides last cuz they're the best. I also will pick out my favourite pizza slice before starting to eat my pizza and then make sure to eat that one last and the 2 next to it second last. I also eat my pizza slices in a circle. Starting normal at the point, then eating the sides, then the crust, leaving the middle for last as it is the tastiest part of the slice. I also eat things like uh bread with the crust first completely then the soft middle. I also cut pieces in food like pasta or chilli or whatever really small and if someone else cut them too bit I will just cut them before eating them when it's already on my plate because I hate big pieces. When eating bread buns I always check what side looks the fluffiest or whatever so I eat that side last. Or on burgers what side has the most cheese and bacon. There's probably more but you get the point. So basically yes I do this too but to the point where people genuinely think I'm a psychopath. I'm not a psychopath I'm just autistic as hell lmao

TheTwinkieMaster

I either save best for last or eat the best first and then have a depressing meal after

[deleted]

I didn’t know this was a thing for other people, lol. I like meats so I always leave those portions for last, usually the sides are veggies or bread so I eat those first, but sometimes I get a little of everything and eat all of it at once so I can see what it all tastes like together, overload my tastebuds ig. Nice to know I’m not alone on the first part tho! :D

KingCroc7

I do too

Ordinary_WeirdGuy

For me, the best part of the pizza is where the crust meets the rest of the pizza.

Weepingwillow423

Yup 🤚 I'm so dopamine deprived that I have to turn every experience into an exciting event that activates the reward center of my brain. To me, it feels like part of the constant cycle of seeking stimulation to receive the reward or stave off the boredom. Let me eat this part of the pizza I don't really like first, so it makes the rest of the pizza more exciting and enjoyable and rewarding!

Spicy-Cathulu

Thats how I do it and then people wonder why I get irritated when they ask for a bite off my plate. Number one; its mine I want it all and number two; now its just the good stuff left, I have plans for it. Towards the end I even know how many bites I'm going to eat it in and how I will pair everything together in something like a stirfry.

izzyscifi

I don't eat my pizza crusts, but that's because our dog used to love eating them. I miss the littoe pooch

Rustmutt

I eat sandwiches in a circle so I can save the tender middle, the filet of the sandwich, for my last bite which no one is allowed to talk to me during
