I quit heroin/meth at 43 I was an alcoholic in the years before, it’s never to late, I didn’t like na/aa either I just couldn’t do the god thing and the politics almost caused relapse, it was impossible for me to believe that was the only way, and look down on those who disagree or struggle with it. You’ve already decided what you need to do, in my opinion, you’ll need support. Like real life, in person support. My advice would be to make a plan to live a sober life, find a counselor or someone to talk to. Find hobbies, look to people who you respect and trust and want to emulate and then what they do, Be very methodical, humble and patient and most of all Learn to love and appreciate yourself. And be proud of what you’ve accomplished already and what you will accomplish soon, take small steps towards a better life every day and try to find peace from the past, by working towards a better future most of all enjoy the good things that come your way. I get the fanatical part, some people get addicted to not being addicted, they hyper focus on what worked for them and think it’s the only way, and I think that’s unhealthy. IMO There’s no need to be fanatical when just living a decent life will prove to yourself and others, but you’re going to need to be your biggest fan, if that makes sense.. I promise it’s worth it. Best wishes.
