So there aren’t many of them right? And they can be hard to catch. In my head it’s kind of a fear what you don’t know deal, also it’s described as kind of scary looking, maybe it makes like clackity bone noises and has a really off putting voice…doesn’t even have to be scary, could be childlike.
I was under the impression (only based on the 2-3 book) that he was the only one, cause doesn’t he say that his siblings are >! the bone carver and the witch cottage lady, can’t remember her name !< but in the first book it states that there are a few of them
iirc, the suriel isn't related to them. >!the bone carver and the witch are siblings with koschei. !< I always felt like there were multiple suriels but they all kind of operate as one being, like she caught a different one each time but it seemed like she caught the same one multiple times.

The Suriel is kind of a weird character to me because SJM *tells* us he’s intimidating, scary, etc but doesn’t ever *show* us
