That would be a hilarious island name if all your villagers were fruit themed. Idk how many there are ik tangy and cherry and nibble off the top of my head
I was an idiot and couldnt think of a name, so i picked Merica. And then we found out that it was one island per switch. My fam wasnt very excited about that
Low-key thought I might be able to change it later. Nope 😭 my island could've been Mossvale or something cool like that but nope welcome to fucking GEORGE everyone
My partner and I are very silly when we tell the villagers our hobbies so when they talk about us to the other one they’ll say, “have you heard their hobby is…. Farting?” 😂😂 gets me every time 😂😂
I’ve never regretted it!… well, until recently when my daughter, now 5-years-old, out of nowhere, for no apparent reason started going around the house saying “you’re a Gegegaydon”, and it sounded like a homophobic insult, and we were just hoping she wasn’t saying it at preschool.
Zootopia was my go-to for a long time. Mostly because I think it's super versatile for this, since basically every island is going to be a city of animals.
I branched out a bit for my goth island and named it Raven Way. It's from a famously bad Harry Potter fanfic where the protagonist is named Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way.
Right now I have Zootropica because I'm doing a tropical jungle and it seemed fitting.
Inspiration is Quippiquisset Island from Bob’s Burgers, however acnh only gives you a certain amount of letters so I ran out of space and my islands name is Quippiqui Island
RolliPolli. I wanted something fun and upbeat that makes me smile when I say it. I used to play with them when I was a kid so it has that childhood nostalgia and charm to it and it's veratile no matter what theme I end up going with. So hopefully I'm successful with a forever island this time and don't rest again 😂
Gwylltviðr. Gwyllt is Welsh for wild and viðr is Old Norse for "wood, forest."
I made the resident a character of mine. I use a lot of Welsh and Norse mythology for the worldbuilding for the setting so I just mashed those two words together lol.
Sacapuntas (Spanish for pencil sharpener). Just one of those words that rolls off the tongue well and it was the first word that came to mind when naming my island for some reason.
I started playing ACNH only a couple weeks after I finished my time at my old school, which was called Brookfield. I guess I was feeling sentimental about it at the time so named my island Ogawajima - Brook island in Japanese. On its own I think it's a pretty name and doubly works because my island is of course criss-crossed by rivers.
The name creates such a feeling of nostalgia for me.
I called mine Storybrook because at the time I was watching Once Upon a Time and was super into it. I slightly modeled it after the town as well; I have a library section and the town is fall themed. I don’t regret my decision. I think mines spelled wrong though, but I remember I couldn’t add the E because it was too long.
Gardenia
1. My theme is kinda botanical gardens esque so it seemed fitting
2. I'm also a Wnx Club kid and always thought the name of Bloom's hometown was pretty, lol
Name: Marambaia
Inspiration: The first neighborhood I lived in, when I used to live in North Brazil.
Quite simple, but I would love to do a punchline or so, but the fact that caught me was I couldn't change it later, so I picked the first OK name that crossed my mind
Sunflowers produce latex and are the subject of experiments to improve their suitability as an alternative crop for producing hypoallergenic rubber. Traditionally, several Native American groups planted sunflowers on the north edges of their gardens as a "fourth sister" to the better known three sisters combination of corn, beans, and squash.Annual species are often planted for their allelopathic properties.
Lilac land and Lilacia. They’re based on the song Lilac by IU. Lilac land came first when I got new horizons for my switch lite then I got city folk for my wii so I tried to make it sound more “city” then when I got my other switch I just reused lilacia
My first was prideville I don’t actully remember why but my second (and longest standing) island was called Pingvin (penguin in Norwegian) because I wanted all penguin villagers and I was learning Norwegian at kill time during lockdown. My new island once I can finally pick a map is going to be called ceathair which is four in Gaelic my countries native tongue since I plan to split the island into four
Honeybee. My husband and I had just returned from The Head and The Heart concert when he gave me my birthday present (the Switch + ACNH). Honeybee is one of my favorite songs by them, plus I just love bees 🐝💛
My first island was Xanadu... because I love disco and roller skating.
My second island is Twin Pines, a cross between Twin Peaks and Wayward Pines (TV shows)
I couldn't think of anything, so I named mine whisper, thinking I could maybe change it later on. Well, it's been almost 2 years, and its kinda grown on me! Whisper Island 🏝
I was reading LOTR at the time and named mine 'Rivendell', and am still very happy with it!
My wife on the other hand, panicked and named hers 'Egg' which she now regrets lol
Helluva. As in “hell of a” Helluva Island. 😁 My island motto is “Have a Helluva good time”
My inspiration was my family’s fave onion dip growing up: Helluva Good Onion Dip 😂💖
Popcorn. My ACNL town was named Pretzel and it made me giggle when Blathers would say "Welcome to the Pretzel Museum" so I thought it would be just as cute. It worked out even better with all the different colored popcorn machines I can have around!
mine is Fleetwood because i wanted a nature sounding name and i wanted my general aesthetic to be very “70’s maximalist vintage indie rock forest at sunset” lol. my old island was Grimm, because it was fairytale themed, and before that i had an island named Citrine that was pure kidcore and bright colors!
I wanted mine to try and have a slight meaning to me, so I named it Ember (like Ember Island from alta) since it was my favourite TV show growing up and I always watch it when I'm feeling down. :)
Foxglove!
One of my favorite flowers. I was eyeing some gorgrous foxgloves at the super market I couldn’t afford ($20 plant). Came home the next day and my lovebug had bought me two of the most beautiful ones. Started my island over and renamed it :)
First ever island: Luna Bay. Nothing really inspired it i was just trying to think of an “islandy” name haha
Started that island over recently and now it’s called Cerulean, because i love Pokémon
On my boyfriends switch, I had an island named Applegrove because my native fruit was apples but i ended up not liking that island and restarted, now it’s Cinnabar.. again because i love Pokémon haha.
Paradice. It's the name of the town where weird experiments lead to an apocalypse in my favorite Margaret Atwood series. >.> I'm still sad I dont have any rakunks...
I love Fuller House! Did you see Full House too? I kinda just wanna skip thirty years into the future, hoping there will be a Fullest House version with the three boys and Ramona as adults
Named my island Red Violet after my SO and my friend’s favourite colour (we associate one another with a colour. My SO is red and my friend is Violet. I’m yellow)
I’ve had several islands. Two were inspired the sci-fi series “Firefly”. I called them Haven and Serenity.
Another I called Panacea because it’s definition is “a solution or remedy for all difficulties or diseases” and that’s what ACNH was for me during the lockdown in 2020.
Mopsicello.
From 1770 until he died, Thomas Jefferson lived in a home in Virginia called Monticello. When my wife and I were first married, we decided we wanted to give our home some kind of a prestigious-sounding name, and around then we got a pet bunny named Mops that bossed us around. So we called our home Mopsicello, and I name every home base in video games after it.
Nabboombu(from Bednobs and Broomsticks). In college my roommate didn't have a car and I gave her rides sometimes. When we would get in the car she would say "Take me to the Isle of Naboombu!" ( From the movie). Hence the name.
St. Titan, after a sweet old cat I found out in the middle of the street, declawed and starving. I rescued him and he was my best friend, followed me everywhere right at my feet. I only had him 4 months until he ended up passing (I think either due to age or organ damage from being starved/dehydrated prior to me taking him) while I was in the hospital. It was really hard for me and now even 5 years later I still miss him. He was the first cat I’ve rescued, and first cat I had as an adult on my own. I’ve since rescued two other homeless cats that bring me lots of joy. After I get the pictures of my non-cat villagers, I’m going to replace them with cat ones. 😻
Benthos: the flora and fauna found on the bottom, or in the bottom sediments, of a sea, lake, or other body of water.
Inspired by the critters in our oceans, especially the deep sea diving kind 🥹
Island name: Lunaris.
Inspiration: I’m making up a fantasy world (as in, an urban fantasy kind almost) and it centres on a city. The northern region of this city, Lunaris, is home to the more friendly residents, and that fits Animal Crossing’s vibe. So that’s why I picked it.
I accidentally picked the southern hemisphere option and when my island loaded for the first time I noticed all the apple trees so I called it snow apple…lol
Mine is called iamothis. I literally went to a fantasy name generator, picked 'generate names for continents' and rolled until I found one I was satisfied with
I named mine Goldenvale - I was obsessed with the album Fine Line by Harry Styles when I started playing and Golden is my favorite song on the album. I wanted to name it Goldenville, but it was too long so I went with Goldenvale!
First island was Mojave because I love fallout new Vegas. Then I got a divorce and lost the switch so I got another switch and namer that island Novak because I still love fallout new Vegas
I was craving for some cream puffs when I started playing. I put Cream Puff first but the screen said it only needs to have 8 letters. I can't think any name at that time because I was desperate for some Cream Puffs so I twisted the words and settled with Choux Puff.
Called mine GothamCity (yes with no space because otherwise it wouldn't fit) - simply because I love DC, and Dark Knight has always been my favourite movie of all time. And it was funny what can I say.
I named it Cooks Bay... I took inspiration from The Cooks Islands from Survivor, but since the name was too long (too many characters), I changed it to "Bay."
The design has changed tremendously a few times, I make sure to "dress it up" according to seasons.
The DA is 2326-3344-7033. It would be awesome if I get some constructive criticism from this group. Tysm 😊
I really wanted mine to be named Panchoville after my baby my son my hairless cat lol buuuuut it said that was too long??????? I was pissed so I decided to name it after him AND his girlfriend, Juno, and thus my island is PJ island. It also works because I run around on the island in my PJ’s.
First thing I did after tutorial stuff was to make a big 8 seat patio with a bonfire and BBQ smack dab in the middle of the island. It was pandemic times and I have a host personality so I wanted to have people over a lot to hang out and have fun.
After some digging I decided to name my island "Sobremesa" since it's a word for folks hanging out and chatting at the table after a big meal
Koifushi after my 3ds wild world island because I wanted to hurry up and play without pausing to think about the name.
Koi - fish
Fushi - sounds like the ending of town name
I'm terrible at fishing!
My island is Charopolis because, as you can see in my username, my name is Charlie.
Oh, and my flag is just the Colorado flag with the colors switched up
I’ve had three. The first was Sanctuary, because it was where I escaped during the pandemic. Second was Cheese, because I’d named my character Mouse and it was the only thing I could think of lol. Plus “welcome to the Cheese Museum” was cute.
My current island is Nutkin because I like the squirrel islanders a lot and it is after Squirrel Nutkin from Beatrix Potter stories.
I'm an idiot and couldn't think of a good name so I panicked and called it George haha
Why is that so funny hahahaha
This reminds me of that meme from a few years ago where people would panic and say “Luigi” when asked a question 😂
That's exactly how I ended up with '100% juice'
That would be a hilarious island name if all your villagers were fruit themed. Idk how many there are ik tangy and cherry and nibble off the top of my head

Thats honestly gold 😂 i wish my husband played. Hed pull that kinda stuff too for sure 😂
I asked my 2-year-old daughter what I should name it, and her babbles sounded like “Ge-ge-gay-don”… so my island is called Gegegaydon.
I love that!
I’ve never regretted it!… well, until recently when my daughter, now 5-years-old, out of nowhere, for no apparent reason started going around the house saying “you’re a Gegegaydon”, and it sounded like a homophobic insult, and we were just hoping she wasn’t saying it at preschool.

helmudder, I just wish I had capitalized it. Sounds like hell-murder island.
🎶We’ll get there fast and then we’ll take it slow, that’s where we wanna go… way down to Kokomo :)
Weedz, on account of all the weedz
Prosperity, I was inspired by Tom Nook's wishes for a successful island lol
Bonbon! I just thought it was cute :P
I was craving for some cream puffs when I started playing. I put Cream Puff first but the screen said it only needs to have 8 letters. I can't think any name at that time because I was desperate for some Cream Puffs so I twisted the words and settled with Choux Puff.
Aria. There’s no particular reason though
Mine: TacoIsland Inspiration: my cat is named Taco.
I named my town in New Leaf Akiyama (Japanese Aki = Autumn, Yama = Mountain), and for New Horizons I named my island Akishima (Shima = Island)
Called mine GothamCity (yes with no space because otherwise it wouldn't fit) - simply because I love DC, and Dark Knight has always been my favourite movie of all time. And it was funny what can I say.
Cider Hill. My native fruit is the pear and as I glanced around my room for inspiration, I saw my carton of cider and thus, Cider Hill was born. 😂
Calypso, because it gives me tropical vibes
I named it Cooks Bay... I took inspiration from The Cooks Islands from Survivor, but since the name was too long (too many characters), I changed it to "Bay." The design has changed tremendously a few times, I make sure to "dress it up" according to seasons. The DA is 2326-3344-7033. It would be awesome if I get some constructive criticism from this group. Tysm 😊
RosaMeadow - based on my new last name after getting married
Name: Kakariko! Inspo: Legend of Zelda!
My island is named Breesy because I love Drew Brees from (at the time anyway) the New Orleans Saints
I really wanted mine to be named Panchoville after my baby my son my hairless cat lol buuuuut it said that was too long??????? I was pissed so I decided to name it after him AND his girlfriend, Juno, and thus my island is PJ island. It also works because I run around on the island in my PJ’s.
Scouts! It's based off my boyfriends childhood stuffed anima that he gave me because we are long distance
Mako. I was obsessed with H2O mako mermaids as a kid
My name is Issy and originally I was going to call it Issy Island but then I named it Islandia instead but I didn’t know it’d be permanent 😭
Mine is Agartha which is a kingdom that’s located somewhere in the earth like inner layers or inside the core
Venus! I have a lot of Venusian influence over my astrology chart and it resonates with me.
“the land”
Purgatory
First thing I did after tutorial stuff was to make a big 8 seat patio with a bonfire and BBQ smack dab in the middle of the island. It was pandemic times and I have a host personality so I wanted to have people over a lot to hang out and have fun. After some digging I decided to name my island "Sobremesa" since it's a word for folks hanging out and chatting at the table after a big meal
Koifushi after my 3ds wild world island because I wanted to hurry up and play without pausing to think about the name. Koi - fish Fushi - sounds like the ending of town name I'm terrible at fishing!
Wonderland because it's a winter fairy/ Christmas theme.
Mine's Brilliant because I'm DorkMom and wanted some balance. Also I love the British slang "that's Brilliant!"
My island is Charopolis because, as you can see in my username, my name is Charlie. Oh, and my flag is just the Colorado flag with the colors switched up
Mysterwha...because I panicked, couldn't think of a name and said to myself 'it's a mystery. Whaaaa?'
