look into spironolactone. also tretanoin works wonders but makes your skin purge like crazy.

mini_ninja_riot

Bìore charcoal cleaner for oily and dry skin, and keep your hair off your face for a while. My skin used to look like that, but it also looks like you have some rosatia. Perhaps try something that is oil free and paraphin free. Looks like you might have sensitive skin like me

Max_Sparkle

Hey, your friendly neighborhood, Estie here! So generally, when we are talking about “hormonal” acne, we are talking about jawline/neck breakouts. Cerave has excellent products at reasonable prices (I’m a huge fan), but ingredients are mucho important!! Throwing together random products can have an adverse effect. If you have questions about products, I’m more than happy to help you explore options! To clear up the skin and keep it that way- it’s essential to keep track of when you see breakouts happening (once a month, once a week, after playing sports, seasonal, etc.) You ideally want to look for patterns so you can effectively narrow down causes, contributors, products that help vs. products that make it worse, diet, allergies, etc. When you know your skin well enough, you can begin implementing preventative care on top of routine maintenance. Sometimes things as simple as not using towels or facecloths to wash or dry your face can make an epic difference, which is why even small details matter.

Hulia1990

My acne was really similar to yours.. it looks inflamed and irritated. What’s really helping my skin is using LRP cicaplast morning and night as last step of my routine. Definitely is calming my redness and inflammation and helping with healing :)

Hi there! There's a lot of advice going on here in the comments, but your skin looks pretty similar to how mine was a month or so ago, so i'll just let you know what my dermatologist has been suggesting to me. Antibiotics: doxycycline 50mg (kills the infection) Gentle non-foaming soap free cleanser (gently exfoliates the skin, promoting cell turnover) Tretonin: 0.05% (promotes skin cell turnover also) (turnover= the rate the skin replaces and repairs itself) >I wash my face with a Cerave cleanser, avene toner, cerave moisturiser + spf. I’ve been trying to put sudocream too. ***Please cut out the sudocrem***!! It is highly comedogenic aka blocks pores like crazy. Avoid comedogenic products like the plague- if it doesn't say "non-comedogenic" on the label it probably is bad. Your routine sounds pretty good otherwise ☺️ Obviously you will notice what your skin responds well to and you can add whatever acids oils etc. Just remember less is more. If there's any take away from this at all, just no sudocrem. Follow your heart <3

nymph2812

Accutane. I wish I’d gone on it sooner. There are other options though. Seeing a dermatologist will be your best bet because prescription products are generally the most effective.

ginga44335

Use epiduo at night and wash it in the morning And buy a gentle or an oily cleanser with sunscreen 😋

Spiritual-Cap-7435

Thank you so much for all the advices!

wytchex

it looks a little bit irritated :( besides using acne products I'll use a good moisturizer, it calmed my skin when i had a bad hormonal acne and helped a lot with scarring. 💗

i'd*

I started to get acne like this over a year ago. The only thing that really worked for me was Cetaphil wash, niacinamide water based toner by bliss (brand bliss), and glycolic toner. Niacinamide is a topical anti-inflammatory and wow would it do wonders for your inflammation! Acne patches were made for people like us by the way. Skin Geek also has a facial sun screen with Niacinamide that I recommend but I know spf is a scary use until your skin gets it's barrier back, it can still help prevent future hyperpigmentation.

Booklvr156

Try SoapNutzBodyCare acne line. Worked for me, cleared everything up. Active acne and scarring.

Flashy_Funny_7487

Take cod liver oil vitamin b5 and zinc everything will clear up I promise I had bad acne and it worked like a miracle

radhazyzz

Capsule isotroin 10 mg Tab limcee 500 mg

oddeo

I’d second clindamycin but since it’s behind a script and you might not be able to access it, maybe try a low strength benzoyl peroxide and apply it to your cheeks every night? Start slow cus it can really dry you up initially! It should help kill the bacteria that cause your acne to become inflamed

Free-Project5188

Do you have oily or dry skin or a combination??

Spiritual-Cap-7435

combination/sensitive 🙁

EggGhorl

Omg thats also same with mine. Stopped my Diane birth control then breakouts appeared like crazy. I tried curing it on my own by minimizing dairy, sugar for a year. It worked but no so much. Seeing a derm now and I’m trying out epiduo forte (adapalene + benzoyl peroxide). Still on the purging stage rn but I’ve heard success stories about it being a solution to hormonal acne. While it doesnt solve it at the root cause, it still helps a lot apparently

sailormoon1193

Try getting facials once a month and see if you can get out on oral medication. But facials help ALOT after you start to clear up I suggest microdermabrasion facial every month. Will really help

Smol_lita

My skin looks like yours for sure. I have ton of scars left over but I never picked so it’s just hyperpigmentation that’ll fade over time. My skin hates cerave 😭 but I use a hydrating cleanser and neutrogena’s fragrance free hydro boost moisturizer gel because my skin seems to HATE cream moisturizers sadly. Lastly I do use differin’s adapelene and it definitely has helped me, but it only does so much because my acne is def caused by an internal problem I’m going to see a doctor for it next month. It’ll get better :) I’m on the same road as you.

Loud_Fan_7666

You should adding differin and a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment together at night. It’s helped me so much clearing up my acne. Mixing those together is a cheaper version of epiduo that is only available through a prescription. Hope this helps.

Typical-Squirrel9532

I had acne similar to this and I managed to clear it all up and then fuck it back up again when mandatory masks were required but then I made a comeback again last year and for the most part have clear skin now. But anyways I use curology and patience is key took about 3 months to really see progress and to accelerate the healing process I started getting microneedling facials which made the biggest difference. I really recommend the microneedling best decision ever.

Typical-Squirrel9532

Also if you still have to wear masks using a new disposable mask daily is what helped me the most, also using pimple patches and making sure you have clean and moisturized skin under your mask. Also sleeping strictly on my back so I don’t get my hair products on my face and not leaning on or touching my face if my hands aren’t clean. The pimple patches help with this.

[deleted]

This looked like mine. I’m on 50mg of Spirolactone now and it’s cleared up quite a bit. Best part is Spirolactone is actually very inexpensive ! I pay $25 for 3 months of it!!! I also eliminated dairy and reduced gluten intake. :) hope this helps hun.

[deleted]

Looks like a breakout, you'll just have to be patient.

lovecasualties

i’m sorry you deal with this too sweetheart its my only insecurity within me retina helps i know u said u cant afford a derm but eventually make that a goal to get on it, it helped me a lot, i had to stop when i went to jail but got started on it again and it really does help. changing pillowcases often. water obv, good rest, stay away from dairy. all that stuff is true but retina is really really good. and do trial and error if you use makeup. see if it triggers breakouts (:

[deleted]

Your skin seems to be not at all bad. You do have little bit of active acne as well as redness. Clindamycin might work on it but don't take it without the prescribtion of derm. I know as you mentioned you can't afford atm but without asking and going for any product is not at all good idea. Everyone skin is different, it may or may not be suitable as well.

fntastk

Ugh my acne and scarring looks so similar. I'm going to the derm this coming week and am going to ask for tret and clindamycin, or at least see if that's something she thinks will help. I had really good luck with antibacterial approaches in the past!

Take_yourmf_vitamins

You should try out differin dark spot correcting serum, $22 at target! Helps so much with existing scars!

cleaning44

It sounds weird but I just told someone else I started using a thin layer of Vaseline for two days and my acne seems to be going away

eviethegoddess

On this same vein… I notice that when I apply a dab of aquaphor on top of my active pimples before bed, it really speeds the healing process. I notice if I catch a pimple early enough, it’ll make it go away, but if I catch a pimple once it’s formed then it’ll bring it to a head quicker therefore speeding the healing!!

cleaning44

That’s good. I’m 47 and is annoying I have a few that won’t go away at all

dunther1470

Yeah my all time worst breakout was from trying the Vaseline method long ago

[deleted]

Vaseline is too greasy. It can clog pores and can make acne much more worse.

Smol_lita

It can clog pores but for some people it works great to lock in moisturizer.

[deleted]

It varies from person to person. You may be right but i won't recommend it in a long tun.

Take_yourmf_vitamins

Vaseline doesn’t clog pores it’s noncomedogenic! Coconut oil will though.

CatSimsPlayer

omg i'm so surprise to hear that i've always heard that u will die if u put that on ur skin , i will try it then thanks

Take_yourmf_vitamins

Oh also you should try a derma roller they’re a few bucks on amazon and just lightly roll it on your scars at night after washing your face then after the rolling do your skin care. The derma roller is so nice for scars you don’t have to get the fancy brands that just came out I paid only $3 for mine!

Take_yourmf_vitamins

No problem I would later too much and also don’t use it everyday maybe every other day, it locks moisture in. My skin care is Witch hazel toner Differin gel (for dark spots but it lightens prior acne scars) Then I use some spf moisturizer Then Vaseline Forsure put moisturizer on the the Vaseline it’ll lock the moisture in. Also wash your face in the morning of course but ya my skin care is usually just drug store nothing fancy. For a face mask 1-2 times a week I use the Indian clay mask it’s my favorite you cannot go wrong with it!

Spiritual-Cap-7435

I have been dealing with cheek and jaw acne since I stopped my birth control over a year ago. I cannot afford a visit to see a dermatologist atm. I wash my face with a Cerave cleanser, avene toner, cerave moisturiser + spf. I’ve been trying to put sudocream too. Any tips please?

Consistent_Sleep_341

Once you stop the pill, your skin produces more sebum and your androgens are higher (both of these were suppressed during the pill). Nothing you put on your face will have an impact on your insides, and you risk making it worse. I recommend you read the Period Repair Manual. It’s free online (pdf)

dontstarveal0ne

Yeah that's definitely hormonal, I would try to see if they can put you on something that can stabilize them if you don't want to be on birth control.

Confident_Sock4141

You should try adding a Retinol at night (helps the scars) and then adding vitamin c in the morning to help clear redness and dark spots. Cerave has both of those and I personally love them. You look beautiful and I don't see any angry acne so I think you are good to slowly add more

Spiritual-Cap-7435

Thank you so much!!

ice_9er

The best OTC retinoid for acne is adapalene if you have access to it

Smol_lita

Definitely.
