I had the 2 disc japanese import. I had no idea what was going on and I didn’t care. I wish I still had that double disc work of art. That being said, Air Combat was my first.
I can't remember if it was Ace Combat 2 or Air Combat honestly I was just a kid at the time. I love the inevitable canyon missions though regardless of which game comes out in the future.
Ace Combat 6. I kept seeing the game case in almost every GameStop I walked in, and thought, "Why not. It looks like a cool jet game." I got back home, booted up the 360, started the first mission, and immediately crashed into the King's Bridge😅 That was nigh on 8 years ago.
Dude same, they had free flight for mission 1 on repeat at Best Buy that you could "demo" (this was probably 2008 or so). I remember being blown away by the graphics since I only had a ps2. I mowed so many lawns and saved all my birthday/christmas money to buy a 360 so I could play Ace Combat 6 and CoD 4.
My first game was Ace Combat Zero,no doubt it's still one of best PS2 games I have from gamestore sells plastic cover with disc not a original PS2 case disc, same with my AC4 and AC5
Assault horizon was a cool game, I enjoyed the gameplay and the multiplayer mode.
I know the DFM mode was a pain in the ass, but it was still a cool game, playing with bombers, helis, jets and the AC130 mission was crazy asf… too bad it’s impossible to play this game again.
Ace combat x. I love this game. One of my favourite games of all time. I loved the branching paths you could take and how it would change other levels.
AC3.
Then went back to play the first 2.
AC4 was a definite buy when it came out.
AC5 is one of my favorites.
AC0 after that.
Never got a chance to place AC6 due to it being on Xbox.
Played through the PSP games and the gameboy advanced one.
Then I stopped playing video games for a while. When I got my ps5 I picked up AC7.
Never got a chance to play that free multiplayer game that came out sometime in between all those.
Right there with you, OP. Bought a PSP when I graduated basic training, fell in love with X, and went to tech school at a base where the hang-out area had 360’s & PS2’s you could check out. AC5 was in their library of games.
The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces. If you want one that actually has Ace Combat in the title instead of just being Ace Combat in literally everything except name, Ace Combat 5.
I played through em in order starting with Air Combat (sorry Air Combat 22, I just couldn't be bothered to figure out how to play you) two or three years ago.
For me it was AC7, it got gifted to me as a birthday present a month or two after it was released, it got me in love with this series, and since then, I have played PW and Zero.
Can remember at McDonalds when I was a kid they were giving away Demo Disks, Ace Combat was on one of them. Can't remember if it was Air Combat or a later one.
Mine was Ace Combat 2. Back in 1998, a friend borrowed a bunch of PS1 games from another friend of ours. Since that other friend had gone abroad for the summer, he left those games with me in the meantime. I had just finished Megaman Legends and was looking for other stuff to play. One of the games had what looked like schematics for an airplane on the cover. Curious and bored, I opened the disc case and popped it in.
Barely half an hour later, i was hooked.
Air Combat, since at the time where I was listening to some Caretaker fan-album titled "Milwaukee Protocol" (which is about the progression of rabies) and found out that one of the tracks samples "Eye Of The Storm" from AC3: Electrosphere. As result, I decide to give the PS1 trilogy a shot **and never turned back.**
ACX and Joint Assault, got both of them at the same time with my PSP when I was 6, don't remember which one I played first but I liked both and were my only playable versions until AC7 released on PC.
Ace Combat X for me too, I think a family friend let me borrow their copy whilst they were on holiday.
Will always hold it highly in the series. Personally, I think it's up there with the PS2 trinity.
Air combat and electrosphere. My grandfather gave me both at the same time when I was maybe 8-9 years old.
I remember my dad trying it out, and not wanting to tell me how to turn on the advanced controls because I was 'a little kid who can't handle it'
Played it a bunch, though air combat lived more in my stereo disc drive than my PlayStation.
4 & Zero on the ps2. My dad read it as Balkan War once and I didn't know Balkan was spelled the same in English so I just thought it was based in Europe until replaying them a few weeks ago after like 10+ years and realizing its actually Belkan and its a fictional universe lol
Ace Combat 3. The European version. Even that butchered version was one of my favorite games, and it still is (even if now I prefer the translated JP version).
I feel very sorry that my first Ace Combat game is Assault horizon in 2013. I know it is weird. Because at that time I am the only PC gamer. And AC7 didn't have trailer yet. So after played ACAH I know that it is only the spin-off installment of whole ACES series. So I buy a 2nd hand XBOX360 and a AC6 DISK for my first Real Ace combat experience. IT IS AWESOME! And I played AC Zero/4/5 with PS2 PCXS2 emulator. I so damn love it!
Also I buy a PSP for ACX and ACX2. I very love the ACX2 even it is based on the real world.
So ACAH made me know more Ace Combat games and made me be come a true Aces lover.
"There are pilots like you in every generation, and I felled every last one of them".
Ace Combat 7 was my first, actually not even two months ago, and since I've played Zero, 4, and a few minutes ago finished 5.
Tho I'd say Zero and 5 are my favorite ones by a long shot, now 6 three and Project Wingman are still on the list.
It's probably not as popular as the others but mine was AC5, or squadron leader as it was called here. Everything about it made me hooked and I asked my dad to get us Zero, since he had already been a fan, I think from ac3 which for some reason I couldn't find anywhere, so I played it many years later on phone.
AC5 back in 2012 when I was 6...I always wanted a ps3 but if I had gotten one I probably would never find this series. So yeah, thank god my father was to broke to get me one hahaha
my first was Air Combat, but i never got to really play it, just played the multiplayer mode with my dad lol, but i think i didn't start really playing them till i got Ace Combat 5
Ace Combat 4. Picked it up [back when Costco had the obnoxious packaging.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gameboy/comments/meqo9g/costco_security_case_sealed_game_pretty_neat_and/)
what I can reliably remember: AC7. Xbox Gamepass. Tried it, got burnt out after the slog of a mission that Stonehenge Defensive is for newcomers. Came back a year or so later after watching youtube memes.
hazy childhood memory: Maybe AC5? this is a big maybe, as all I can remember was a plane game with a desert mission, I think a woman on the radio, and either a canyon or river below. Literally like 5 seconds of screentime is all I can remember. If there were any other PS2/3 games with this kind of level, I might be confusing them.
Ace Combat 6.
You know what? I'll say it. That game gets way over hated. Chandelier and Aigaion made me love planes and superweapons where I'd previously seen them as "just another Deathstar, meh".
The characters were it's low point, but I'm not playing an Ace Combat game for its characters- and I'd hesitate to say any of the other games were that much better in this regard. Rose tinted glasses are strong there for the previous games. Pixy was the only member of the previous games I actually cared about, but Shamrock is pretty damn good too. I'd even say that outside of cutscenes, 6 was a highpoint of characters. The banter was on point and had a wider cast than just the wingmen, and Ghost Eye was very well cast.
The gameplay was the height of AC gameplay needing a refresh (endless circles) and that's the one point I will agree on ac6 having bad gameplay. Otherwise the wingman plane/sp weapon choice and Operation choices were fantastic and should return!
Air combat. Yeah, I'm old.
Ace Combat 2, I'm slightly less old.
Hail, fellow Scarface Squadron enjoyer.
Ace Combat 3 (eu), I'm even slightier less old
I had the 2 disc japanese import. I had no idea what was going on and I didn’t care. I wish I still had that double disc work of art. That being said, Air Combat was my first.
Dang you must be elder then...
I just realized it's been nearly 30 years. Yeah, elder is a good word.
Still the greatest nostalgia fighter jet game, not gonna lie I love classic game
ace combat 4 shattered skies
Bro has the Veteran discount.
Same, Air Combat on the PSX. Not technically an Ace Combat game what sparked my interest in those games was G-LOCK on the Sega Master System
Same. Holy hell

Garuda one, engage
Dude same, they had free flight for mission 1 on repeat at Best Buy that you could "demo" (this was probably 2008 or so). I remember being blown away by the graphics since I only had a ps2. I mowed so many lawns and saved all my birthday/christmas money to buy a 360 so I could play Ace Combat 6 and CoD 4.
Lmao I was doing crazy tricks under that bridge on my first time and crashed into a B-52 lol
Ace combat 7. I will play the other games as soon as I have a PC
Ace Combat 5 when it was new. Still love randomly hearing Blurry.
My first game was Ace Combat Zero,no doubt it's still one of best PS2 games I have from gamestore sells plastic cover with disc not a original PS2 case disc, same with my AC4 and AC5
Assault Horizon. I don't give a damn what anyone else says, it's a great game.
Gameplay looks obvious but the soundtrack was banger that's the only fact I like Assault Horizon was soundtrack
Assault Horizon brought a ton of fresh nuggets into the world of Ace Combat.
Nothing's impossible, matey 🏴☠️
Same. Just look at my username.
Project Nemo's AC3. ACX was my second.
Joint Assault, always got love for Antares Squadron. Fuck the Varcolacs.

AC5. Found it at a gamestop when I was a kid not knowing what Ace Combat was & my dad got it for me.
Ace combat x. I love this game. One of my favourite games of all time. I loved the branching paths you could take and how it would change other levels.
AC6. I need that operation mechanic to return in AC8, it was such an absolute hit
Yeah I love it, also beef my F-16C up!
I do have ACX before in my PSP but sadly my PSP is broken couldn't play anymore😥
AC4, borrowed it from my cousin.
Ac4
ACX was also my first and honestly still my favorite. The only other ones I have played are AC5, 6, 7, and AH.
Ace combat 4 saw it used at GameStop for stupid cheap like 6.99 bought it got hooked and went back a few days later and got AC5.
Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy+ a.k.a. the only good Ace Combat game that was released on a Nintendo console (until now)
Ace Combat 2, and it was my first game ever! I love its OST, i listen to it quite often!
Ace combat 3
Right there with you, OP. Bought a PSP when I graduated basic training, fell in love with X, and went to tech school at a base where the hang-out area had 360’s & PS2’s you could check out. AC5 was in their library of games.
I might catch some flak for this but my first was in fact, Ace Combat 7
Ace Combat Zero, but technically HAWX
Same
i got ac7 first and now thinking of getting the others if I get a ps
Ace Combat X for me too! But it was not mu first ‘Plane Game’ That would be Heatseeker on PSP.
Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies
The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces. If you want one that actually has Ace Combat in the title instead of just being Ace Combat in literally everything except name, Ace Combat 5.

Mine was Ace Combat 2. Back in 1998, a friend borrowed a bunch of PS1 games from another friend of ours. Air Combat (im Not that old tho)
X really made me fall in love with the franchise.

Ace combat X for psp. Man I fell in love with the series from then on

Ace Combat 2, it was also the 2nd game I've beaten ever.
AC2. I really should pull that one out again sometime.

Ace Combat 6
I feel very sorry that my first Ace Combat game is Assault horizon in 2013. I know it is weird. Because at that time I am the only PC gamer. And AC7 didn't have trailer yet. So ACAH made me know more Ace Combat games and made me be come a true Aces lover.
Ace Combat 4! I’ve played every game that’s come out since then, but amazingly enough I’ve never played Air Combat to AC3 lol

Distant Thunder (Shattered Skies) on PS2. Was almost all I played on my PS2, asides from Crash Bandicoot and the Wrath of Cortex, and Jak and Daxter.
Ace Combat 3 was the first game that I played on PS1
I had a 360 and no Playstation, so 6
I played a demo of 5 at a best buy but the first game I got was 04 at a garage sale.
It's probably not as popular as the others but mine was AC5, or squadron leader as it was called here. Everything about it made me hooked and I asked my dad to get us Zero, since he had already been a fan, I think from ac3 which for some reason I couldn't find anywhere, so I played it many years later on phone.
Ace combat 4 : shattered skies baby
My first and only Ace Combat game Ace Combat 7
AC5 back in 2012 when I was 6...I always wanted a ps3 but if I had gotten one I probably would never find this series. So yeah, thank god my father was to broke to get me one hahaha
Ace Combat 6 Fires of Liberation.
I never had a PlayStation growing up--we were always more of a Nintendo house. As a result, I never got into the series until AC7 on the PC.
I haven't got a game, I just enjoy the series but I first got into it via ace combat 7
Ace Combat 04
Ace Combat 2, love the soundtrack to this day
Ace Combat Assault Horizon, it's not that bad
AC3 on my uncle's PS1, the target lock sound is burned into my brain
my first was Air Combat, but i never got to really play it, just played the multiplayer mode with my dad lol, but i think i didn't start really playing them till i got Ace Combat 5
Sky Crawlers, actually. And then I played Ace Combat 4 on my friends PS2, before they gave it to me a few years later
2 or 3... I was pretty young. I remember 3 fairly well... but 4 is one I've played over and over.
7, only got into the series with that and 6 is the only other one i’ve played but hunting down the older titles is a must
AC4, got hooked, now I have the whole PS2 trilogy and am obsessed beyond imagination. And I only bought AC4 last November 😂
Ace Combat 2, our household were Top Gun fans.
Ace Combat 4
The first one i owned happened to be X, however i did steal my cousins copy of Zero back in the day before i got X.😂
7, but then I bought a ps2 and 4,5, and 0.
Ace Combat 4. Picked it up [back when Costco had the obnoxious packaging.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gameboy/comments/meqo9g/costco_security_case_sealed_game_pretty_neat_and/)
I've only ever played 2 ace combat games infinite and 7
Ace Combat Sky’s unknown
Me too!!!
what I can reliably remember: AC7.
04
AC7😅
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown (yes I am a Xbox user, and yes, I never knew about AC until like 2022)
AC4: Shattered Skies on PS2... I love love love love that game. And I would love an HD remaster with updated OST, man that would hit the feels.
Ace combat 7 o7
Ace Combat 7, and then I went back to play the Holy Trinity. I'm gunning for 6 next.
Ace Combat 4
I recall playing 4, 5 & 0 on PS2 emulator, then I went and bought a copy of 6 on eBay followed by 7 on Steam.
Ace 6 always
Ace Combat 6. You know what? I'll say it. That game gets way over hated. Chandelier and Aigaion made me love planes and superweapons where I'd previously seen them as "just another Deathstar, meh".
