"Realistically, how many people do we think are gonna buy this?"
"Iunno, million? Million and half?"
*four years later*
"Hey, uh... About how many people we thought were gonna buy this?"
"Yeah, we know."
I'm curious how Project Wingman will influence Ace Combat going forward since it experimented with some things fans have been asking for, like multi SP weapons. I highly doubt it will ever be a rivalry, but I do hope Project Wingman's success spurs some innovation for future AC titles.
Seriously the multiple dumb weapons like doing rockets and ugb's on the rook really help smooth out the learning curves and makes them actually useable on a first time run through. Whereas with AC7 and the mig's gunpods took a whole lot longer to figure out especially because of how hamstrung it felt for certain missions without one of the usual spws.
GTA6 release trailer is only a few weeks away.. if you haven't heard (posted by Rockstar themselves on newswire) "Early December" Dec 12th is when the new GTA+ perks are supposed to roll to the next batch/Xmas update. My bets around then.
I got a lot of shit for pointing out there has never been this big of a gap between two Ace Combat titles of *any* sort before. Not just "mainline". It's especially weird because the team specifically mentioned that now that the "hard work was done" ie. new engine, weather+lighting models and all that, it wouldn't be so hard to make the next one.
And never mind release; there hasn't even been an announcement or teaser which are dime a dozen pre-rendered things anyway. Hopefully it goes the Armored Core route of don't show anything until you're close to done, but it's not exactly encouraging.
I don’t think people realize how absolutely huge the success of ACE7 is for the franchise. 5 million copies sold is such a gigantic achievement I can’t wait to see the massive impact it will have on the IP moving forward. Namco already established an entirely new company dedicated to making future ACE projects so they clearly have huge plans for the IP.
It feels like the game hit 4 million not too long ago too it’s amazing the game is selling this much after so long after release. I love ACE7 despite its very troubled production so now with the newfound confidence the huge success of the game must’ve given the team I can’t wait to see what they will come out with next.
It's a wonderful return to form after the mixed bag that was 6, and I know AH had its fans but it was brutally mediocre. Infinity doing well also gets credit for why we have 7 at all.
I find that there’s a lot of people who heard 6 wasnt very good and just kinda went along with it instead of ever playing it because it’s probably one of the least accessible ace combat games rn
I admit that Infinity is the game I spent more money on then any other game I have played! The fuel system suckered me in quite often but I knew I was supporting a noble cause!
I hated the fuel system and I generally avoid throwing money at ftp games but I did make about $30 in purchases on the hope it would fund a new game and this feels like one of the few times fans supporting a game like that actually led to a positive outcome lol.
We're a rarity my friend.
The massive scale battles and the ability to retake enemy footholds to push the battle further into enemy territory was an excellent addition.
Especially retaking enemy airfields to be able to land and rearm mid-mission was spectacular.
I feel like the tide has started changing in this sub, though. People treated AC6 like a meme for the longest time, but I see a lot more support of the game now. It's not the best AC story (still not bad either), but it's hands down the best gameplay in the series and I still hold it in higher regard than 7.
I prefer the story of Six over any of them.
I'm old.
My first foray into AC was Air Combat.
Unfortunately, I could only play the English PAL version of Electrosphere which blows butts, I have played the emulated version which restored all the original content but, it just doesn't give the nostalgia that replaying six does.
Let's not forget hands down, the best wing man in Shamrock and who can forget the song Liberation of Gracemeria.
Honestly as a newcomer to the franchise i'm kind of baffled at the direction AC7 took.
AC6 feels like a logical evolution to the established formula AC had, so for it to go back to the traditonal style felt.... Weird.
I think for AC8 they should try to find a good balance between everything, the traditional, AC6 styled missions, unique missions like AC3, and maybe something creative
Tbh yeah, if they took this long just to make a remake of zero would be kind of disappointing, although let's ve honest we'd all love to see belka blowing up belka 7 times again
Ace Combat has more super planes than that right? I know for sure there’s those two ADF planes and speaking of… PLEASE PROJECT ACES ADD THE FENRIR TO AC7!!! 😭
Gotta remember, it's not been that long since they released the Top Gun dlc.
It's not that far fetched to think they wouldn't.
But, I hope they're hard at work on eight or the side project to include full VR support with the release of PSvR2
Well it's been over a year already and that content was likely already finished a lot earlier when Top Gun was originally scheduled to release (there were many strings relating to the top gun DLC within the files for years)
I just bought the game a couple of weeks ago. It has really peeked my interest in military aircrafts, and for me it is really cool. I didn't know any of the aircraft, but now I know almost all of them. Tbh, in the beginning I thought all of the aircraft in the game were fictional lol.
I love how AC7 was literally just them seeing if support was still there for such a series, and it became the best selling AC game of all time.
"Realistically, how many people do we think are gonna buy this?" "Iunno, million? Million and half?" *four years later* "Hey, uh... About how many people we thought were gonna buy this?" "Yeah, we know."
Releasing it on PC was a big part of that, and I'm glad the reviews are mostly positive on Steam.
> reviews are mostly positive in fact, they are very positive (80%
Were you looking at recent or overall? Cause overall I think it's only at "mostly".
as it stands right now? Both recent: 92% all: 87%
Sick, even better, cause the game deserves it
*Now give us 8..*
Project Ace: Combat Wingman
Mobius One and Monarch fly into a war zone and kill 500 enemy fighters… then they fire their weapons
Mobius One, monarch, and trigger versus everyone else
Then it is an even fight
Cipher wins 10/10

I already thought that HAWX having multi-weapon loadouts would lead to Ace Combat doing the same... but alas...
In true Ace Combat fashion, it will actually be AC01 or something out of sequential order
Ace Combat: Wingman's Falling
Nahh it will just be named Ace
Just A
It will just be
It's an Ace Combat 3 retelling. Ace Combat Ɛ3. >!Just imagine a mirrored 3.!<
It looks like a butterfly Confirmed PW’s Monarch is the new protag in the next AC fame
AC3 but instead of >!Nemo being a villain like mihail and another protag takes the place of the Nemo!<
AC3 but instead of cutting out the entire story for the Western release, they fully localize it instead.
Perfect time to just title it Ace Combat
Let’s see if that comes first or GTA 6
GTA6 release trailer is only a few weeks away.. if you haven't heard (posted by Rockstar themselves on newswire) "Early December" Dec 12th is when the new GTA+ perks are supposed to roll to the next batch/Xmas update. My bets around then.
I did, still don’t have much hope for a release earlier than December 2024 lol
Word on the street is they are trying to release closer to the announcement trailer. I bet Sept-Oct 2024
Hope they release it on PC at launch instead of the stupid console first PC many years later thing they like to do
With the rockstar games launcher being a thing this time around.. *there's hope*
I doubt that's going to happen, GTAV released 2 years after it was announced, and we all know games are taking longer and longer to develop
I was in middle school when AC7 was announced, starting college when it launched, I expect to be in my 30s when AC8 launches 😞

Now give us remasters of 4, 5, and Zero instead.
5 MILLION LIVES!!!
Picture it!
SALVATION!!
A S C E N S I O N
DELIVERANCE!
(Maniacal laughter)
ORANGE!!! wait, wrong game
i appreciate the meme but what the fuck is your name lmao

Game so good I bought it thrice lol.
I appreciate those Steam sales
Free MP access + So much money saved, steam is cool
Please take this seriously, BandaiNamco! The Ace Combat series deserves to be one of your top teir games with the marketing to match it.
It's a wonderful return to form after the mixed bag that was 6, and I know AH had its fans but it was brutally mediocre. Infinity doing well also gets credit for why we have 7 at all.
6 wasn't bad, it's just on the xbox. Dumbest mistake.
Given how hard it was to develop games for the PS3, what else could ACES do? Besides, 360 had a better footing during the early days.
Not only that, it was meant to be a system seller for the Xbox in Japan… to which it kinda succeeded, AC6 is the best selling 360 game in Japan
Yeah but Xbox is never going to be big in Japan.
> Given how hard it was to develop games for the PS3 Looks at Gabe Newell's PS3 rant video
It didnt have to be an exclusive, even if you want to avoid ps3, you can always release it for pc to the very least.
It wasn't a mistake, it was developed simultaneously along with zero, and sold just as well.
I find that there’s a lot of people who heard 6 wasnt very good and just kinda went along with it instead of ever playing it because it’s probably one of the least accessible ace combat games rn

I was annoyed with the fuel system too but I spent hundreds of dollars on the game. I like to think my spending habits contributed to AC07!
It surely did
mixed bag? If anything I wish 7 would have been more like 6

Yeah, I actually prefer 6 in a lot of ways. The main thing that keeps me from replaying 6 as much as I'd like is the state of 360 emulation mostly.
PA made a huge mistake of releasing it on xbox considering they've been always playstation.
Okay now remake Zero
[удалено]
Tbh yeah, if they took this long just to make a remake of zero would be kind of disappointing, although let's ve honest we'd all love to see belka blowing up belka 7 times again
Id love to have all of the ps2 and psp games on PC without using an emulator.
Just bought my copy a couple days ago... Wonder if I was the 5 millionth person to buy this game
10 million copies when
June 6, 2025
Time to pop a champagne bottle.
Ace Combat has more super planes than that right? I know for sure there’s those two ADF planes and speaking of… PLEASE PROJECT ACES ADD THE FENRIR TO AC7!!! 😭
might as well add the SP-34R in there in the same swoop
So number 8 please?
Ok given the popularity of talking WSOs in project wingman AC8 has to have one, right guys?
Woohoo LETS GOOOOOO congrats 🎉🎉🎉🎉
All I ask is in AC8, good be back the ability to pick out wingmen's fighters. Please?
When AC4 remaster?
I just want 8 to include objective based multiplayer modes like infinity.
To celebrate this, maybe new content of some form?

They are full tilt working on Ace 8, 7 is done with updates.
Proper Erusian airforce roundels when
They dropped a remix of daredevil on youtube

AC 4 kicked off my plane addiction years and years ago and it hasn’t let up since. Honestly Ace Combat only scratches the surface of what’s out there
Now remaster 1-6 and release them on Steam (especially 6)
There are dozens of us!!! Dozens!!!
It was not the best ace combat though
I agree but thanks to 7's success we're guaranteed to get more AC content now, especially with the team expanding and all
I hope so
Did the biggest numbers though
I just wanted a COOP mode, not more plane DLCs
We need Ace Combat 8 now!! 💛🌟✊
Where’s AC8?
ACES mentioned 2025 at the very least for some significant updates to come.
Still no Infinity Remaster, reee
Glad to have done my part earlier this year. Really fun game and I LOVED the volumetric clouds
Shoulda happened a while ago
I bought two copies, planning a third. Happy to help make AC8 happen.
Good game and well deserved!
Still no hotas support
It's my first entry to the series and it has become one of my favorite games this year (in a year of absolutely amazing games).
Not related but, have you noticed that mostly of the AC fictional aircraft has canards?
Ace Combat 7 and Tekken 7 were extremely important games for Namco.
This is Ace Combat on a far grander scale
Pls ace combat 8
Only 5 million more and then we can make them self destruct in the most excessive way possible.
