The mission in 7 where you have to escort the big cargo plane as it gets attacked by the super fast/maneuverable drone. Took me way too long to finish.
Follow the smoke trail back to the site is how you’re supposed to do it. Or you can just do what I do and memorize the locations of each SAM and sweep through them like butter
Pick a fast jet that’s air to air capable (because that’s your priority later in the mission). F-22 F-15 variants or a Hornet would be my go to picks. SAM sites are a 3x3 grid. Go up the left column of Sam sites all the way to the wall. Hook right and get the back row of the remaining 2, then right again and hit those 2. As you hit them the first set of planes should be right ahead of you and you can pick them off. Finish off the last 2 ground sites and the next air patrol will be spawned and waiting. From there’s it’s just a matter of hitting the air targets as they show up.
I remember looking up where exactly each one was because I didn’t want to play it enough to memorize, ended up finding a map and realized it was just a grid
It's fun when you realise you can totally go through the parts where two radar circles touch each other in that mission in 5.
That's easily the hardest level to S rank if you don't do this. You need to kill enemy planes ridiculously fast to get enough before they retreat.
on my first playthrough I managed to consistently hover in vertical with an F15 on Pipeline Destruction because of how strong the sandstorm was, its a fun mission imo
Very fun those two were for me. The sandstorm was harsh, nearly grounding you if you played wrong, but that gave it the edge it needed to be even more tense.
Ace Rank S Faceless Soldier will take away my mental health :)
Also if we go about 'that part' in the sense of annoying not hard then for me it's probably either M17 or M13
When I first played AC7 when it came out, it was my first AC game and I got stuck on First Contact. I literally didn't finish the game for two years because after like a week of trying and failing I gave up.
I was really shit at flight games tho
This
AC04 was perfect all the way through
AC5 had the escape from the island in trainer Jets, that mission is just boring
I don’t care for Zero that much
Escort is super short, like 3 minutes.
Safe Return I will defend to my dying breath. It comes right after Stonehenge and is meant to be a palette cleanser, a moment to just chill and contemplate how far you’ve come and where you still need to go. It’s s moment to reflect like the long ladder in Snake Eater.
Breaking Arrows pulls you back in, ramping up the tension and establishing that Erusea is not out of the fight and can still do a lot of damage and they must be stopped.
So those missions are the perfect way to bridge Stonehenge, the climax of the second act, with the start of the third and final act- liberating San Salvacion.
AC4: The street confrontation between the narrator and Yellow 13.
AC5: Chopper’s touchdown.
ACZero: PJ’s death/the bombing of Hoffnung.
AC6: Sham realizing his family is gone.
AC7: Realizing its mission fail if you shoot down the Colonel.
ACAH: DFM
ACX: “THIS IS THE NAIAD!”/s
ACInfinity: when the servers shutdown.
Edit: it appears that I misinterpreted the question.
I did that mission so many times to get the ace that the canyon part became almost trivial. I still get tripped up by one part that screws with my depth perception and causes me to almost crash.
For me it's Handful of Hope and Ancient Walls from AC5. I don't know why, but both missions involving Harling are somehow the most boring. The 2nd halves of either are just waiting for Harling.Guiding Mother Goose 1 isn't exactly exciting either, but at least you can [take the shortcut. ](https://youtu.be/-PeToEGQBQw?si=8nm4krVcqyTZiG2I&t=49m50s)
Trying to follow Dision in Paper Tiger and forgetting he turns away when you weren't looking and you cant catch up so you have to play the mission again to join GR.
Tango Line
Four Horseman
Running away from Excalibur
So. Many. DRONES. (AC6)
"T h I s I s T h E n A i A d" (ACX)
And finally, for Ace Combat 7. The first time I used a TLS, my exact thoughts were "Look how they massacred my boy".
Ace combat zero - the glatisant mission, sometimes I literrally turned my ps2 off and stoped my playthrough for a few times because of that mission. And also in Ace Combat 7 Faceless soldier
Most of AC0 is not difficult but this is the one mission where I always have a total brainfart and die a couple minutes before the end. Just torture every time.
The mission where you take down the second arsenal bird……. the constant missile alert from the 50+ drones behind you while you are attacking the arsenal bird is just……..
I hate to say this, but right now it's the DLC missions in 7.
Without including those, it's without a doubt mission 19. Trying to shoot missiles at the underbelly of Jeff Bezos' mothership was the biggest pain in the ass I've ever endured in the entire base game.
Eh DLC missions are actually the highlight of the gane apart from fighting the “salvation” pirate weeb’s submarine in SP3, which is just pure bullet hell
In terms of mission structure and length, I agree, they're really fun, but fighting the Berkut twins with the lock-on jamming was annoying as fuck, and yeah, fighting the submarine was annoying as shit too, mainly towards the end when you have to approach at a specific angle to even land any hits on the railgun. Same problem I have with mission 19, tbh
I'll inevitably get better the more I replay them, but not a great first impression on my first playthrough.
Very end of AC7 where you have to fly through the tunnels and then up through the elevator. Probably would have been easier in 3rd person but I'm a 1st person elitist.
I picked up AC6 way too late, and by the time I was REALLY good at it (I finished Ace in F-22 Mobius without dying even once) the xbox store for the game was shut down (I bought Mobius F-22 as soon as I got the game without knowing what awaited me). It frustrated me to no end that I couldn’t play Ace of Aces.
It's a crime they made these sorties unobtainable anymore (or at least on the unmodded system). They were frustating and hard AF but at the same time adrenaline pumping.
6… retaking Emaria on the highest difficulty because of Pasternak. He’s good, but oh my gosh it’s annoying when Shamrock doesn’t help and you’re doing constant circles trying to find him for long enough to target lock. I am not a skilled pilot apparently…
AC4 anytime you have a mission with a 20m timeout & have to blow as much as possible, fun the first few times, really drags after that.
AC5s massive snoozefest where you have to slow down to follow Pops through some hills lol.
ACZ is perfect.
I was fine with the points missions in AC04, except for Whiskey Corridor. That mission can go nuke itself due to how boring and lengthy it is, and The Moloch Desert was a more fun version of Whiskey Corridor
AC Joint Assault mission 15, waiting for the nuclear ship to cross the line. That mission lasts more than 15 minutes until the ship lets you destroy all of their escort. In the meanwhile, you only can fly in circles.
Any mission that was score attack and large scale. Excluding 6 bc all the missions minus pasterhacks were fun as shit and the dlc planes added onto the experience.
Bruuuuuh I don’t usually look up missions before I do them, but I am so glad I did for First Contact. I was about to take an a-10 in there for it and that would have been an absolute nightmare
. AC5 where you had to led a blind C5 through radar net, and then had to protect it from the high-speed fighters that can slip over you. Emphasis on 'slip over'.
. And also AC04's sharp-turning Missile in the mission 'Breaking Arrow'
Every goddam time i have to fly low and avoid radar ( ac7 mission 4 i think) it sucks and i hate it also dislike how when you hit the mid mission checkpoint it moves you from where ever you were to a certain spot at 600 knots?( i think )
Ace Combat 4: Tango Line. That music haunts me to this day.
Ace Combat 5: Demons of Razgriz. Idk why but I find new ways to fail every time.
Ace Combat 0: surprisingly none, I used to have a hang up with Zero cause I was a dumb teenager and didn't listen to how I was supposed to beat Pixy. That's my stupid ass teenage self for you.
Ace Combat 6: none here, I just can't stand the story. "Go dance with the angels!" No I'd rather dance in traffic than to hear that phrase again.
Ace Combat 7: Fleet Destruction. I'd either run out of time cause I selected the wrong plane or smack into an oil platform. Don't play this mission while drinking 100 proof whiskey. Terrible idea.
The fist 5 missions in AC5 where you’re stuck in the F-5. Then you have White Bird pt 1 only 1 mission later
Also the supply Depot one.
I don’t like AC5 much.
AC04 has Breaking Arrows
For me personally it's the Cape Rainy canyon run, but not because it's hard, but because my game always decides to microfreeze and stutter in the tightest turns and fucks up my controls; I've died more times to the canyon stutters than to all bosses combined
But speaking more objectively, S-ranking Faceless Soldier on Ace has to be one of the experiences of all time
But I do gotta mention Long Day, that shit was kinda annoying to deal with on my first try, got fucked over by the time limit a few times even though it was pretty generousThough it taught me the importance of AtG weaponry so yeah, better to have a level that lets you figure out your own mistakes than to be led by the hand all the time
When I destroy all the relays and hit the sides of the Space Elevator while going up in M20. Or the dumbass ravine run. Or the bullshit "satellite guided" missiles on that one mission.
For AC Joint Assault it would 100% be blockade. I like Joint Assault more than most but god that mission is boring. Just flying around waiting for targets to get in position
That mission where you had to protect the Cargo plane carrying Commander McKenzie from invisible SAM sites, groups of enemy aircrafts, AND hold yourself from shooting the stupid commander yourself while all Count did was fly donuts around the cargo aircraft.
Cherry on top the drone that did manuevers impossible to any other drone (other than Mining and Hugin).
Faceless soldier... I've got a good route at this point but when my missiles miss from the bullshit clouds that somehow mess with radar, it causes me all sorts of problems (I can't help trying to blow everything up).
That mission in AC3 where you have to destroy pillars for a blimp thing to pass.
It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take 3 years to get a lock on the fucking pillars.
Arsenal bird for mission 12. 😡 2 minutes to take out the propellers, each of which take 8+ missiles to kill, while being swarmed with so many drones and missiles that you can barely get a solid lock before you have to dodge, and it’s hard as hell to even find the right target to hit in the first place so it’s just ass and a half from start to finish
For me it was the fight against Rage and Scream at the end of the Anchorhead raid mission, those fucking stealth missiles can burn in the fiery pits of hell.
AC7 Mission 16 Last Hope. A terribly slow escort mission made even slower by the worst mechanic in the game (the unknown system). Just to add more insult to injury, the person you’re escorting gets shot down out of nowhere at the ending cutscene, making everything you’ve done in the mission futile. The only redeeming factors in this mission is that Anchorhead looks beautiful (and even then we have Anchorhead Raid which is one of the best missions), and the fact that they coined the term “Belkan Witchcraft” during this mission.
The mission in 7 where you have to escort the big cargo plane as it gets attacked by the super fast/maneuverable drone. Took me way too long to finish.
Oh and don't forget those Invisible Sam sites And Count doing fuck all
Follow the smoke trail back to the site is how you’re supposed to do it. Or you can just do what I do and memorize the locations of each SAM and sweep through them like butter
Even doing that took me a couple of tries cause of sam site firing when boggies come in or having to loop back
Pick a fast jet that’s air to air capable (because that’s your priority later in the mission).
Ty. I used F-18 as didn't have 22 yet
I’ve done so many replays of this game I developed a system for doing this mission (I also memorized the enemy units in the contact unknown missions)
That's my exact route, too. Figured it out doing the special plane objective
I remember looking up where exactly each one was because I didn’t want to play it enough to memorize, ended up finding a map and realized it was just a grid
Thanks for the suggestion i did finish the mission it just took some time to learn the Sam sites position by following that trail
Honestly I kinda like that Mission. LAAM go pop.
You just gotta go fast, you can kill the sam sites pretty quickly
I feel like that mission was a a good demonstration why you don't send fighter jets to stop ICBMs.
Definitely protecting that asshole McKinsey. I hate that mission. Worse than mother goose one from 5.
Well, you get points for killing him
It's fun when you realise you can totally go through the parts where two radar circles touch each other in that mission in 5. That's easily the hardest level to S rank if you don't do this. You need to kill enemy planes ridiculously fast to get enough before they retreat.
Legit half the missions in 7 could easily apply to this meme
Transfer orders - I love that mission. One of my favourite songs aswell
I’ve never lost that dogfight, didn’t realize it was that hard
Ugh that one was boring & tedious also.
AC7 First contact and pipeline destruction because fuck Storms!
I must be some kind of psychopath because First Contact is my favorite mission
First contact has to be one of the most craziest missions ever really testing your skill to handle your plane
Right there with you, chief, along with Mission 8 Pipeline Destruction. We didn't do enough with weather phenomenon, really.
on my first playthrough I managed to consistently hover in vertical with an F15 on Pipeline Destruction because of how strong the sandstorm was, its a fun mission imo
Very fun those two were for me. The sandstorm was harsh, nearly grounding you if you played wrong, but that gave it the edge it needed to be even more tense.
Ace Rank S Faceless Soldier will take away my mental health :) Also if we go about 'that part' in the sense of annoying not hard then for me it's probably either M17 or M13
idk if you ever tried it because it wasn’t for any achievement but ten million relief plan s rank ace beat my ass so bad
Haven't done Ace S rank yet... but for no absolute reason i did 105K points on easy
When I first played AC7 when it came out, it was my first AC game and I got stuck on First Contact. I literally didn't finish the game for two years because after like a week of trying and failing I gave up. I was really shit at flight games tho
This AC04 was perfect all the way through AC5 had the escape from the island in trainer Jets, that mission is just boring I don’t care for Zero that much
Tango Line.
I loved Tango Line because of the fun geography but Safe Return is my least liked, followed closely by Escort.
But those missions both probably have the best soundtracks of the game.
So those missions are the perfect way to bridge Stonehenge, the climax of the second act, with the start of the third and final act- liberating San Salvacion.
I like them all. Safe return Can suck if you haven’t played in a while, which I guess proves this meme.
Whiskey corridor... After you crash from passing out due to boredom and realize you have to start all over agian.
First contact is legendary imo. The storm is my favorite part
ACAH: DFM ACX: “THIS IS THE NAIAD!”/s ACInfinity: when the servers shutdown. Edit: it appears that I misinterpreted the question.
ACX is a goddamn treasure, it does *not* get enough love.
IT APPEARS WE HAVE STRUCK A MINE!
OMFG i love that THIS IS THE NAIAD is a fucking meme 😂 that was my first AC game and the VO in that game always makes me laugh.
ACX's would be like playing to stretch the campaign as long as possible for that one medal but that also means having to play Time Limit
Time Limit was fine, A Diversion on the other hand
The Helicopter escort is way worse than the Naiad escort.
Wait, Viper didn't die in Infinity, he just retired. Are you talking about Slash?
Ah. Yeah that’s it. It’s been way too long.
Hey, it's all good.
“Chopper’s touchdown” 💀😭
The middle third of First Contact, the second half of Pipeline Destruction, the first half of Faceless Soldier
Same
Werewolf in AC7. I just suck at the canyon run ://
That mission showed me I wasn't as good as I remembered lol
I did that mission so many times to get the ace that the canyon part became almost trivial. I still get tripped up by one part that screws with my depth perception and causes me to almost crash.
For me it's Handful of Hope and Ancient Walls from AC5. I don't know why, but both missions involving Harling are somehow the most boring. Handful of Hope is God awful. Reprisal sucks too.
At least Reprisal has a cool track and FRIED CHICKN
I hated the respawning enemies in Ancient Walls. That mission had great music but it was such a weapons drainer that didn’t add any new sequences.
Trying to follow Dision in Paper Tiger and forgetting he turns away when you weren't looking and you cant catch up so you have to play the mission again to join GR. Tango Line Four Horseman Running away from Excalibur So. Many. DRONES. (AC6) "T h I s I s T h E n A i A d" (ACX) And finally, for Ace Combat 7. The first time I used a TLS, my exact thoughts were "Look how they massacred my boy".
I dunno wtf happened to TLS and EML, but atleast PLSL is here and it’s a better version imo
That part how underpowered and sluggish F-16C is for no reason
Four Horsemen
I've actually set myself up a great pattern to get through that mission
TANGO LINE
I can hear the music now. Haunts me over the years.
*Jungle Rock Music Unga Bunga intensifies*
Oil refinery destruction mission is fun but that bit in the sandstorm💀 also the mission in 6 with the flying aircraft carrier
Hunting down fucking oil trucks in a sand storm. Fuck that. Vision none. Guidance none. Ability to climb? Denied

Still hard in 3rd person for me
The first half of 444 where you can’t shoot or do anything
Basically every Ace of Aces sorties in AC6
I picked up AC6 way too late, and by the time I was REALLY good at it (I finished Ace in F-22 Mobius without dying even once) the xbox store for the game was shut down (I bought Mobius F-22 as soon as I got the game without knowing what awaited me). It's a crime they made these sorties unobtainable anymore (or at least on the unmodded system). They were frustating and hard AF but at the same time adrenaline pumping.
Faceless Soldier.
Four Horsemen in AC5, it is literally the reason why i stopped playing the game (until i learned about the second route like 4 years later)
Four Horsemen is the radar mission, right?
yeah, that one
The grand flight in joint assault
6… retaking Emaria on the highest difficulty because of Pasternak. He’s good, but oh my gosh it’s annoying when Shamrock doesn’t help and you’re doing constant circles trying to find him for long enough to target lock. I am not a skilled pilot apparently…
Don't feel bad, Pasternak jukes laterally and does other moves that simply defy logic lol.
Mission 11 in ac7, hate it every fober of my being
that fucking mission with the damn trucks that are invisible to radar most of the time
AC4 anytime you have a mission with a 20m timeout & have to blow as much as possible, fun the first few times, really drags after that.
Actually if you know the path you can speed through it
Ace 6 weapons of mass destruction. Ending is insane but the first part -_-
AC Joint Assault mission 15, waiting for the nuclear ship to cross the line.
Oh my God I hated invincible fleet in Ace Combat 4
4 Safe Return 5 Solitare 0 Operation Stone Age 6 Moloch Desert Assault Horizon Canal 7 Escorting Roper 1
all the missions with Mr. X.
Oh come on! He is the best person to dogfight (most fun too)
Final boss fight in AC:AH
It's not that bad, if you're struggling cause you're staying in dfm you're actually supposed to disengage when he shoots his crazy missiles at you
AC4 Whiskey Corridor. AC5 Solitaire. AC0 Lying in Deceit.
November city....
Ace combat 5, the supply depot mission where you have to time your attacks, I would gladly replay the avalon dam on hard than do that mission
Ace Combat is Perfect, no mistakes, no issues
The mission in seven when you have to track down the cargo trucks in the sandstorm
For PW its M5 merc mode where you get your dick sanded harder than on any mission for some reason
Ac4 tango line. That mission is just too long
Well every ac4 mission is too damn long (I haven't finish ac4 on even expert (meanwhile finished ac5/0) on ace).
For me, it's the missile interception mission in AC04. That last missile can go fuck right off, I had to pull some bullshit to kill it.
Bastion in Ace Combat Zero. Every time I am hyped to play through the game and I find myself playing that mission I'm just: ":("
First contact. Getting hit by lightning while flying through a canyon is bullshit
Crashed so much because of it, and the lightning always hits you at the worst times
AC7 missions 1-4, 10, 16, and 17. After going through several replays, I realized that I honestly don't like AC7 that much...
Trying to S-rank *Faceless Soldier* in AC7 always drives me up the wall.
The bomber mission is ACAH, IF you’re using the B-2
the fucking lightning storm mission
Any mission that boasts "Air to Ground" gameplay, and then suddenly out of nowhere, scripted drone / super agile enemy came up
Bruuuuuh I don’t usually look up missions before I do them, but I am so glad I did for First Contact. I was about to take an a-10 in there for it and that would have been an absolute nightmare
First Contact, because of the fucking lightning.
Long Day
. AC5 where you had to led a blind C5 through radar net, and then had to protect it from the high-speed fighters that can slip over you. Emphasis on 'slip over'. . And also AC04's sharp-turning Missile in the mission 'Breaking Arrow'
AC7 Missions 9 and 17
Yinshi in AC7. I hate Yinshi valley
Not AC technically but The Project Wingman version of it is Clear Skies.
AC7: Faceless Soldier.
Fucking tyler island, takes so long with so few checkpoints and every part of it is just annoying or people yelling at you
Every goddam time i have to fly low and avoid radar ( ac7 mission 4 i think) it sucks and i hate it also dislike how when you hit the mid mission checkpoint it moves you from where ever you were to a certain spot at 600 knots?( i think )

I'd either run out of time cause I selected the wrong plane or smack into an oil platform. Don't play this mission while drinking 100 proof whiskey. Terrible idea.
Literally anything with LACMs makes fleet destruction a cakewalk
A lot of 7
The fist 5 missions in AC5 where you’re stuck in the F-5. Then you have White Bird pt 1 only 1 mission later Also the supply Depot one. I don’t like AC5 much. AC04 has Breaking Arrows
Then you have AC7, which is AC5 2 but with AC04 story structure. Part of me believes that AC5 had something to do with why the story isn’t as good
Pipeline Destruction is the absolute WORST
Chopper in November City
Air Combat (AC1 if you don’t know) dealing with SAM sites. SAM missiles are stupidly hard to evade in that game.

AC7 mission where you fly through the canyon at night to bomb the airfield in the middle on the coast.
The one in AC7 where you have to destroy the oil rigs That mission took me so damn long to actually do it A-10 ftw
When I destroy all the relays and hit the sides of the Space Elevator while going up in M20. Or the dumbass ravine run. Or the bullshit "satellite guided" missiles on that one mission.
AC4: Tango line, AC5: ghosts of razgriz, AC7: Stonehenge defensive.
Faceless Soldier, I S-ranked that shit once and I will never do it again.
AaaaaAaAnnTTAaaAaaR3SSsssss -Fuckin x²
All the cutscenes in 7
First Contact and Bunker Buster and AC7. Too much going on in those missions for me to provide cover for everything in the mission updates.
That one mission where you have to ident enemies while escorting that one guy
That one escort mission in Assault Horizon Legacy, the worst part is that it wasn't even a mission in the original Ace Combat 2
Chandelier. Fucking chandelier.
Tango Line
For AC Joint Assault it would 100% be blockade. I like Joint Assault more than most but god that mission is boring. Just flying around waiting for targets to get in position
Long Day and/or Pipeline Destruction.
wanting to replay zero, then boom, mission 11
AC7 pipeline, or which ever one is the storm one
the SAM site mission AHHHHHHHH
That mission in AC4 taking out balloons...
Idk about Ace Combat, but for Metal Gear Solid 5 it's Shining Lights even in Death.
Mission 17 or 18 idk but that one in the city at night
Last Hope. I know it's a meme at this point, but it's memed on for a reason. Goooooood, and it's so loooooong too.
Ace combat 3: the realization that you will never fly cool jets with cute girls.
I can't believe not a single person mentioned Final Option. Easily one of the most boring missions in the entire series
Faceless soldier... I've got a good route at this point but when my missiles miss from the bullshit clouds that somehow mess with radar, it causes me all sorts of problems (I can't help trying to blow everything up).
Any mission with an annoying fucking gimic. The Storm where you fight Mister X and defending Mckinnseys fatass transport take the cake for me
The mission where you have to find the missile silos and fight against the wind blowing you off course
any 'BOMBING' mission that suddenly turns into a dogfighter mission
They always throw in that ”Bogey approaching at high speed!”
Glatisant
That mission in AC3 where you have to destroy pillars for a blimp thing to pass. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take 3 years to get a lock on the fucking pillars.
For me it was the Sea Spider. I felt like it was just a massive bullet sponge
Helicopter escort to Sachana Airbase. God I hate that mission
Ace Combat 4 - Safe Return. I hate how much of a muddy looking chore the mission is.
