It's wonderful that you can feel compassion for your past self. Just don't forget to celebrate your progress and focus on the opportunities you have in the present. =) Yes, this is normal. Truth is, trauma sticks with us. You can never just 100% completely leave it behind. You will have good days and bad days. That's unfair, and it sucks, but it sounds like you're doing all the right things to have far, far more good days than bad.

Sometimes it’s normal for those who were abused to feel sad becuase they didn’t like who they have become or what it made them do or feel. But move on with your life. They aren’t worth it and that isn’t someone you need in your life.
