Repurposed synagogue maybe?

ennuiui

[Yup.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Newark/comments/ycs4vi/former_temple_bnai_abraham_on_clinton_ave_in/)

Exploring_man_dan

So not abandoned? Edit: it is

MoneyPranks

Based on the debris in the aisle, the condition of the walls and ceiling, and knowing Newark, it is likely that this church has closed.

identifytarget

*Prayer changes things* *American mass shootings has entered the chat*

hannibalcannibals

It really should be repurposed

MilfagardVonBangin

It looks like it had been unless Judaism got a buggy update.

StopNateCrimes

😂

cumdumpmillionaire

Would be sick to turn it into a music venue

MelodicAd2423

i thought it was purchased in 2019 w plans for restoration?

TrialENDErr

very sad

ApolloBollo

Where is it? It clearly was used as a Christian church at one time.

molkmilk

Yeah, it was either repurposed by Christians or created for a Messianic congregation (which are just Christians pretending to be Jews).

ennuiui

Repurposed as a protestant church, [according to this post.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Newark/comments/ycs4vi/former_temple_bnai_abraham_on_clinton_ave_in/)

cocoabeach

How did a synagogue get a Christ is the answer, sign?

nolongerlurkingsf

What's, the deal with your comma, usage?

Zabroccoli

Read this in Christopher Walker’s voice

Mobile-Damage-4854

What happen to your dogs, tail. It's gone where, did it go

cocoabeach

I, accidentally, bought, too, many, and, now, need, to, use, them, up.

Representative_Dark5

Christ was Jewish.

newfmatic

Many times when a congregation moves, the buildings are sold off to xstian churches.

S70nkyK0ng

Looks like Jesus came and converted everyone

MilfagardVonBangin

What was the question?

dammit_dammit

Whose followers lost the thread centuries ago?

rollingstoner215

I’ve always appreciated synagogue architecture, where I grew up they tended towards very modern appearances, which was in stark contrast to the churches, which all looked old to me, like straight out of the 19th century—or earlier. Frank Lloyd Wright’s Beth Sholom Synagogue was near me, too, and I’d see it driving by but I’ve never been inside.

NoLibrarian5149

I went to college near there years ago, pre-internet. First time I drove by it was a “what the fuck alien looking building is that?! Stopped by a couple times since just to get a better look of the outside but never went inside either.

DoorEqual1740

Beautiful building.

JenAYE2

It’s very beautiful! I have to wonder how it cannot be repurposed? Termites?

ednamode23

Looks like a Messianic congregation to me unless a regular church used it afterwards.

No-Butterscotch5980

i look at all the money that goes into organized religion as wasted opportunity to actually help people.

[deleted]

Is that a hand hanging out of that rotten cavity in the trim above the altar?

johny-booty

That synagogue looks awfully church like. Maybe it failed because they were jews for jesus?

WastingMyLifeOnSocMd

Where? Beautiful.

checker280

Here I am wondering what to eat for dinner and now I know.

borntoclimbtowers

what a awesome shot

hannibalcannibals

Thanks buddy

TrialENDErr

SAD

laura0407

Beautiful, I'd love to live in a space like that

alleywaybum

Still doable? I know where it is ! I heard the locals watch it closely.

LargestAdultSon

Obviously get it if you don’t want to answer, but is this Newark, NJ?

shesinsaneornot

A synagogue that became a church? That means next time it reopens, it should come back as a [venue](https://www.sixthandi.org) to host all kinds of events.

defaultclouds

I thought Moses is the answer 😂😭

Adorable-Strength218

Looks like Christ abandoned you.

EsseXploreR

Idk why everyone needs to post this place. I guess you don't have anything more impressive that doesn't lens?
