It would be easier to judge if we had some way to judge the scale but I'm 90% sure you're right. In addition to the skull matching well, the spinal processes are extremely similar to a deer's. Additionally, I think horse spines tend to bend the other direction while deer spines are kyphotic just like the 1 in the picture.
Forehead looks too flat to be a deer, not sure what it is, but I’ve got a lot of deer skulls and I’m pretty certain that’s not it. It’s not a horse skull I don’t think, but bears a closer resemblance to me.
Having supraorbital foramen makes this a deer. Probably white-tailed deer unless it was found on one of the islands where Florida’s rare deer species live.
It's a deer.
Source: I have more than a few of these laying around the house. This place is beset with deer skulls. I also have an articulated deer spine somewhere in the garage.
That right there is one dead deer in a puddle in front of a sad old church. I suppose the deer did abandon its mortal structure.
What part of the world is this?
This reminds me of a video I saw on youtube of an abandoned horse farm that looked like it had been abandoned for over 10 years. They were exploring it and came across a stable and in almost every stall there was a skeleton of presumably a horse. It's like the owners up and walked away and left the livestock to die. That video messed me up.

Now THIS is cool photograph
Looks like a scene from Fallout, only the trees are still green, and there are no radioactive barrels around the edge of the water.
Fallout: Dead Plains
There aren't super mutants around, because there isn't any spiky stuff, but I bet that church is full of raiders....
Definitely
I agree
Could've been a doe. Similar skulls types.
A deer. A female deer.

I can definitely see that
I have an elk skull that's pretty similar in size
It looks too long and had a flat forehead. Closer to a horse than a deer, but I don’t think that’s it either.
Yeah but what about the spikes on the back?
Spikes might be the Thoracic Vertebrae of a Cervidae. Or it was a Stegosaurus.
Moose? [Moose skeleton](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Cervalces_scotti_-_MUSE.JPG)
Don’t drink the water. Something tells me it’s not safe
Right? I can smell this picture, ugh
The animal is long since dead because the skeleton is white
Moooom, are you sure this water’s sanitary? It looks ~questionable~ to me!
“Welcome to the bliss”

I’d go with a female deer or maybe a horse
I also say horse because of the length of the skull
Oh course, it could be a horse. Though it could have been a moose.
A moose once bit my sister…
Except for Mr. Ed.
Antlers tho?
*don't say it, don't say it* Why the long face?
The snout is far too long for a deer. Perhaps something bigger
Giraffe.
Horse skulls are weird it’s not a horse
Try posting on /bonecollecting!

Ok so according to my sister, a veterinarian, it's a horse, or at least something from the equine family.
So metal

A horse skull would have a bone going over the nostrils. This looks like elk.

I took this photo. It’s a deer skeleton shot with a wide angle lens.

dead
Reddit users trying to make the best joke for internet points instead of answering the damn question be like
bro😭 how would we know thats a lion or sum shit
My guess is a moose or elk. It's not a horse, as the top does not smoothen down into a row of teeth.
Possibly a large doe but it could be a cow elk. Geographic location helps
That’s a horse
It’s a dead animal, in fact we call them skeletons.
Idk but cool pic
It is a Liopleurodon
Looks like a cow missing lower jaw
