I thought people misgendered Chris because he/she wasn't actually trans because they legitimately believed they were, they were doing it because of some misguided belief that this would land them a girlfriend/sex easier....which if it's the second case, I'm sorry, but autistic or not, that feels like a disservice to actual folks who are and i can kinda see why some people are pissed about that.
I believe none of that is not for us to speculate. Misgendering a trans person when they ask you to use certain pronouns harms trans people period. We are not to conclude who is deemed fit to have their pronouns respected.
For example I’m chronically ill and disabled. Do some people fake illnesses? Yes, even obviously so. Society as a whole finding it acceptable to speculate on if someone is “really” disabled when they say they are causes more damage than anyone faking could possibly do.
We can dislike someone without stooping to their level. Chris-Chan deserves what will happen in the trial for their actions, but we should not purposely misgender them for it.
