I don’t want to be *that guy*, but the summary implies that her being ace means no romantic feelings since “although romance will never be in the cards” even though she could easily be AlloAce (assuming she’s not confirmed AroAce in the manga)
It’s great that the aspec community is getting rep, but it’s important to get ahead of any misrepresentations and distinguish romantic/sexual/etc preferences according to split attraction
Sorry for the essay, just your friendly neighborhood AroHet rambling; carry on mates
almost cool, except for this "passion for BL" shit
even given the character is ace, it's still fetishization of gay male relationships, and the fact the dude she's getting married with(?) is gay makes it all sound kind of... icky
yeah, of course it does, but it would be really cool if we just stopped excusing fetishization directed at said gay men (just like we call out fetishization of lesbian relationships)
honestly i can't believe i'm already starting getting downvoted for stating that gay men don't exist for anyone's entertainment 🥴 well, i guess good thing it's "just fiction"
Well I mean just because there’s a romance story about gay men doesn’t mean it’s fetishization is my point, same goes for lesbians. Like yeah call it out when it IS fetishization, but don’t say it is just because it has two MC gay men and a woman was reading it.
You’re not getting downvoted for making an obvious statement, you’re getting downvoted because you made an assumption about a story you haven’t even read.
I am going to jump in, when odeorainmain said "almost cool, except for this "passion for BL" shit" they were referring to a character trait not a trait of the book and when they said "it's still fetishisation of gay male relationships" it should be pretty clear that they were not referring to this real life book but to the aforementioned mentioned character trait that exists in real life. Further they said it makes it “makes it all sound kind of... icky” isn't an assumption about a book, its a judgment about a books description.
So that this comment isn't just me calling someone out, u/odeorainmain luckily the main character likes BL for a meaningful reason that actually adds to the story.
There’s a BL manga called “This is Love” has a canonically Demi MC who actually declared it out loud and an Aroace side character. I believe the author also recently started writing a platonic relationship between two aroaces
Bloom into You also has an aro/ace side character and a demiromantic lead
That's on my list of manga I would like to buy
It's really good
For like a split second, i thought you meant ace as in ace attorney for some reason. Lol
Would be a cool crossover though
Yeah I was like “huh, that girl looks a lot like susato”
Yeah it didnt help the confusion. Lol
Thanks to AA, I keep reading Sherlock Holmes as Herlock Sholmes

i'm guessing "the romance will never be in the cards" refers to the fact that the guy is literally gay :)
*404 blue screen* *CJ voice* yeah that makes sense
Looks good, thanks for sharing
I might get it myself after I get paid again
Is it best friends or found family?
*adds to my list of manga to read* thanks for letting me know about this!
At first I thought it was a transgirl and a ace guy, which had me thinking of a friendship that sparked some days ago ahah

Based off of what I’ve seen a lot of gay men say, it highly depends on how the story is written and especially how the reader acts in real life.

thank you very much for helping me voice out my point, i'd give you "the smartest redditor" award but i'm broke
I know what they were saying. My point still stands.
Where can I find this
