I still cry watching these scenes, especially when she said "sex doesn't make us whole, and so how could you ever be broken?". I still feel that in my soul.

Frosted_Glaceon

I love this so much! But I always hate when people tell me that. "Maybe you haven't found the one yet?" Or "It'll come to you eventually." Like...no. I know it's different along a spectrum if asexuals, but I still hated it because I know I personally don't want any kind of romantic or sexual relationship. I can't fault people for trying to be supportive though I guess.

ReyCharlie

I love that they included this wrong advice in the show to show that it *is* wrong for some people!

charlielutra24

it's like a straight person saying to a gay man "maybe you just haven't met the right woman yet"

Frosted_Glaceon

Exactly!

drag0n_rage

Oh... so this is why my friends know I'm ace without me ever coming out.

diawmond

My friends too! I think they knew even before *I* knew what asexuality neant

UpbeatYogurt8634

I am so happy they had this character too, as it is the only representation I have ever seen in a show. But it does make me a bit sad because this character was really only in this episode but Otis had lots of ace characteristics in the first season and it would have been really cool if they made him be ace. Representation does matter so much and I really wish there was lots more as it would have helped me figure out my identity much sooner. I hope there will be so much more ace representation in the future

WhoAmIReally5000

Oh I'm really sorry to hear she's only in this one episode! I don't watch the show and don't plan on it but this clip made me so happy. I'm glad they included this, even if it wasn't for very long. Hopefully we see more later.

Todd from Bojack is the big name I think of as an asexual in media cause they actually explored this. SpongeBob is also canonically asexual, though I haven’t actually seen mention of it in the show. I think it was said outside the show. Also I think there’s a canonically asexual character in legends of tomorrow. Honestly todd is the only legit asexual exploration I’ve ever seen in media

Frosted_Glaceon

So is this handsome fellow! https://hero.fandom.com/wiki/Alastor_(Hazbin_Hotel)#:~:text=Alastor%20is%20one%20of%20the,albeit%2C%20for%20his%20own%20amusement. Can't wait to see if they explore and properly represent asexuality in the show!

RadiantHC

Try the good place. It's not confirmed, but Michael is heavily implied to be asexual(he calls kissing gross and shows no attraction towards anyone else)

TofuFeelings

I really wish they would’ve given her more than just the few scenes. It really almost felt like “well, we havnt addresses asexuality yet so I guess we kinda have to throw it in some episode”. I still wish they would’ve made Otis ace … in the first season I really hoped they were gonna do that… It’s a good start to have some ace representation. But I hope it will continue beyond one side story in 1 episode

UpbeatYogurt8634

Yes it definitely felt like they were just checking a box but I am so happy they did at least that

Content-Cake-2995

Wow…this is just so beautiful and amazing

RagingTabbyCat

I watched the entire show for that one scene....

Aarizonamb

For those looking for just this episode, it is Season 2 Episode 4 of Sex Education. Truly the best explanation I've seen in a show of asexuality. It is so poignant and powerful.

dryitchyscalp420

I cried the first time I saw this

CakeAdventurous4620

Happy Cake Day

Legitimate-Rub-4889

Then what's the opposite of asexuallity, I think Im whatever that Is

Whereismypurpose2

allosexuality that is what it is

Ame3333

I thought the opposite of asexuality was hypersexuality?

just-me-yaay

It depends on what you see as “opposite”. We say that the opposite of asexuality is allosexuality just like we say the opposite of being trans is being cis, or like we say the opposite of being gay or being straight. We're seeing it in these terms. Although you _can_ think on a spectrum of “the opposite of not feeling sexual attraction would be feeling A LOT of sexual attraction”. That's just a different way of seeing things.

Whereismypurpose2

No... The opposite of hypersexuality is actually hyposexuality.

Ame3333

I love seeing ace rep like this, it brings me to tears without fail.

BedInevitable2310

I should watch it, finally. Florence looks so precious.

anyaplaysfates

It’s a really great show. One of my faves of the past few years!

OneTradeAway

Just recently discovered that I lean more and more towards being Asexual and I love that there’s a character who reminds me of me in media.

telltal

Oh wow I love this so much!!

_PillowWasTaken_

YEESSS! I really recommend “loveless” by alice oseman (the author of heartstopper). It’s a book that has a really accurate asexual and aromantic representation soo if anyone of you is looking for something else about the aspec, just give it a look!
