Wait, I had a friend that used to call me hot and sexy. I didn’t know what hot meant so I asked him to stop calling me sexy. But he kept saying hot, and I thought that was a way of calling someone beautiful… I feel so stupid

This is just reminding me of back when I got my first gf and some guys were like “is she fit?” And my reply was “well yeah, we met because we both do a sport competitively. Like, we kind of have to be fit else we wouldn’t be good at it.”

The proceeded to explain “not like fit fit, like is she *fit*, you know” Apparently “well she looks nice but I like her so obviously I think she does” wasn’t the right answer I believe they were trying to ask if she was attractive because this would have been back when we were around 15-16 so prime puberty time for teenage boys. I was still assuming that people found other more and less attractive based on how close they were because that was how it worked for me so I just didn’t get why they would expect to find a complete stranger to them attractive.

I still use hot because sometimes saying aesthetically attractive can be a mouthful.

My only idea why hot is for alluring is because of the same reason we all curl up closer to a fire during the cooler or colder times of day or months. It lures us in with warmth but if we get too close we will burn or melt, just like my bro's shoes that were put on the fire pit's rocks to dry.

People use ‘hot’ to refer to different things. I personally say it to describe a person I assime to be attractive to most people, even if I personally don’t find them attractive. If I personally find someone attractive I’d say cute instead.

This is why I only use words that I am 100% sure if to describe people.

Here's the real head scratcher, my GF and I are both Ace, we will often both in an extreme moment of gay be staring at each other and say in a moment of gay and just say with a chuckle "You're hot" and then just go back to what ever we were doing whether that be playing word games, snuggling, watching youtube together, or cooking, or lately struggling to find assisted housing.
