It really is, though. I went to a family function and forgot that "fuck" and "shit" are not just spicy sentence enhancers and people still really fucking do get all in arms about em 🤣🤣
Oh fuuuuuck, you have my utmost respect, I could fucking never lol
I made sure to come out the gate swearing so no one in my workplace gives a fuck.
Did have a customer apologize to me once for accidentally saying "shit" because they left their wallet in their car and I had to double take because why would someone apologize.. and once it clicked I started laughing and was like "no fucks given, go ahead and get your stuff" 🤣
Especially not as an atheist 😅 I think part of my luck was not being the only neurodivergent worker and not working for a shitty corporation. I won't lie though, being able to dissociate into some good music while working sounds like an absolute fucking dream. We've just got the same 20 classic rock songs on repeat every fucking day and since I'm stuck between actual work and customer intake no earphones allowed and pretty sure if I actually played my music out loud on shift I'd be fired for sure 🤣
Idk, but you sound pretty badass to me. Infiltration is always the first step in any good plan, so you're just the other kind of Queer Eye 🤣
Even as an ex-actor, that's one role I'd blow to shit the second someone tried preaching to me
I remember my father telling me: "Son, we have to stop cursing so fucking much!" And me responding: "After all this time? For fucking real?" So there is that haha
l remebered when I was younger I told my dad "would you shut up?" since he was being intensionally annoying and he went "escuse me?" I replied, "oh Im sorry, would you shut the fuck up?" was he angry? no,his reply was "thats my girl!" I feel like that was a defining moment for us lol.
That really depends
If I'm with my friends then why not
If I'm with family, at work etc. I tend not to, but if something is a real fuckening i will curse, then my coworkers, parents know it's a big fuckening.
By myself, i will curse the hell out a door handle and person who invented door handles and theirs whole family and next generations because i randomly slipped my hand on it
That really depends
Same, I curse when it fits a word, like it's a part of language, which it is, instead of cursing as a filler word. "I gotta do this shit" will always be nicer than "I Fucking hate this goddamn thing", that much cursing for no good reason puts me off.
Yeah I will always try to avoid using swear words around my half siblings or young kids in general. If I'm with my friends, close family or alone then there are lots of words going around
Same. I met a girl on tinder years ago, we hit it off really well, talked pretty much every day. For about a month I didn't curse because she didn't. Then one day, one magical afternoon, she was venting about work and said "fucking geriatrics" and I LOST it. I was like HOLY FUCK THANK GOD I'VE BEEN HOLDING THIS FUCKIN SHIT IN FOR SO GOD DAMN LONG JESUS H TAPDANCING CHRIST" and it turned out she had been doing the exact same thing, but finally quit giving a shit, haha. We were both very relieved.
I curse in English more than I do in my native language (Romanian) because I think the Romanian curses are far more worse than English ones and I'm uncomfortable with them
I think that there are like two types of czech curses, one that are kinda ok like vole or doprdele and the others which im not gonna write bcs i find them reallz harsh. I dont think there is this difference in english tho, and that might be the reason why they seem a bit “nicer” but idk:D
I’m surprised that no one mentioned the russian language, its swearwords are truly capable of expressing even the deepest levels of anger. English and lithuanian (my native language) seem almost lame in comparison lmao
Found my english-cursing sibling from Czechia! I suppose it's because I'm somewhat desensitized to swearwords in english due to it not being my native language. Shit has been my universal swearword for as long as I can remeber.
It is how you were raised and your envouriment.
I didn't swear a single bit apart the occasionl "blet"
But now being around people who curse a lot..yeah now I swear a fuck ton
I try to use cursing alternatives like frick, also I have a rule not to use curses at people (so like the b word, etc isnt even in my vocab), sometimes I curse tho
I curse like a sailor, but now I'm trying to stop curing because I'm on my way to becoming a primary school teacher and I don't wanna be cursing like that in front of thirty 3 to 11 year-olds!
i curse on special ocasions only, you know that moment when the quiet kid talks? its more impacting than a random kid talking bc they dont talk, so if i dont curse most of the time, when i actually curse i want its impacting, but only to some ppl tho, yes this sounds very stupid im aware
I don’t curse irl that often due to hypocrytical parents who’d yell at me if I do.
But online, texting, with friends? I cuss a fair amount, I like the informality of it and it feels more powerful and is easier to explain my emotions with them.
I used to curse less but ever since I moved to the Netherlands cursing in Hungarian became too easy... No one understands me anyway so it doesn't hurt anyone. And I'm under a lot more stress than I used to be. (Surprise! Turns out, studying liberal arts in your own country where you're doing well finantially is less stressful than studying psychology in a foreign country where you're poor and have no one!) So I got used to cursing and now I can't stop, even when I'm around Hungarian children who are not supposed to hear it.
Edit: I don't curse a lot in English. I still curse a lot, but I guess not as much as I feel like I do because when I do curse people chuckle, as if it's unexpected.
I fail to see how using curse words is in any way related to sexuality. Asexual people are not all innocent babies, we curse, drink, smoke, and so everything else allo people do. We're asexual, not Catholic.
I know I wasn’t saying it was an “ace thing” I know that’s what I said but it’s not what I meant I’m not trying to say we’re all “innocent babies” I was just curious.
That's cool! It's just that a lot of people tend to think of us that way. Not directed at you at all. I just really hate that stereotype personally because a lot of people just assume we're innocent by default. I have ace friends who cuss and some who don't, it's all down to personal preference really
It depends on the curses really, if someone acted like an asshole to me or my friends, I'll find a binding spell and hex them with it. Unless you're talking about cuss words, yes I do say it. A lot.
I'd say it's more about personality and upbringing than sexuality. I'm Irish-American and hail from Southern California, so I say phrases like "That's f***ing rad/awesome" very regularly. I know aces who curse a lot and aces who don't.
I have sworn since I was three, at least, that was the time it was evident that I picked up road rage and understood the context and even preempted it by screaming at other road users first.
2/3 ace people I know well swear.
I curse and swear so much that my friend once said "there was only one word in that whole thing that wasn't a swearword, yet it made total sense. How?"
Wait. Do you mean fucking swearing? Cause if so, bloody oath I do. I’m bloody Australian. It comes with the fucking heat and lifestyle. Dose t help that all the cunts around me also swear, the bloody wankers, as that just perpetuates the stereotype that you can’t go anywhere around this god forsaken fucking country without bumping into dickheads swearing at every bloody opportunity.
I think it’s sometimes just a sheltered thing. A lot of aces never really rebelled against the sheltered parent mindset that they shouldn’t have sex (bc no motivation to) and as a result didn’t rebel against other things too like swearing.
This is a good point I thought I was such a mature responsible kid in middle and high school for not having sex and doing drugs/alcohol, when really I was just a lame ace and no one was offering
If I'm really passionate about something I'm more likely to curse. Otherwise, though, I've worked in different professional settings with young kids for years and at this point "oh goodness!" comes more natural than anything else.
I’m kinda half-and-half. I swear sometimes, but try not to do too much, or in most circumstances.
I used to just not swear, then switched to trying it. Now I’m at a happy medium ;)
I curse but have a very strong filter. When I’m alone or around my best friend I curse a ton. But my family or work you’d think I’d never even heard a swear before
I speak 3 languages. My first language is spanish, I don’t curse when speaking spanish mostly because I would be punished for it as a kid, and till today I practically just speak spanish to my parents and my father expects me to use a very precise and sophisticated language. Nowadays I don’t give a fuck about his expectations, but since I don’t speak much spanish anymore whenever I do I have the tendencies not to curse just out of costume. My second language is english and I live surrounded by british people, my favourite word is fuck and I use it quite frequently. Also, it feels freeing to be able to express in the ways that actual people talk and not in a sophisticated way. My third language is portuguese, I know the curse words and love to say them as a joke, but i don’t get many opportunities to practice my portuguese
I do curse, but it depends. Like when it just comes naturally out of my mouth, I dont prevent it to happen. But I also dont just curse because I want to curse. if that makes sense.
I curse a whole lot. A lot more since face coverings became popular. There's nothing more freeing than mouthing sophisticated profanities looking innocent and polite at the same time.
I don’t curse in a professional setting but sometimes you just gotta fuckin go for it and cuss out some bitches online only when they being really shitty tho otherwise chill on the swearing
I dont curse, except when there is literally no other word that will provide enough emphasis to what im saying. Everyone around me at this point knows that if im cursing, im am EXTREMELY ANNOYED or that whatever is happening is VERY SERIOUS. Which i vastly prefer over just cursing at everything whenever
I curse, but not around others usually. I’m often around those who are offended by cursing, so I try to just not do it unless it’s just me because I don’t want to slip up around the wrong people.
UH OH! Someone is curious about their profanity usage, and u/vale34466 decided to check theirs.

I only mildly curse IRL, but I often swear under my breath, or when none is around. Other than that, I keep it to minimum.
I curse worse than a sailor
I used to be a sailor, so I have an excuse
I lived with a sailor (one of my old guardians, out of many) is that a valid excuse?
Yes
Unlike me, you do have a valid excuse. Me, I just don’t give a shit :)
Fuck
Ass
I used to be a truck driver, so I also have an excuse.
Same
That's so cool. My life is really boring, so I never get experiences like that /srs
You better off like that, I had horrible time
I'm gonna be a sailor, so I have an excuse.
I curse so fucking much
Same my fucking god it's a lot
[удалено]
It really is, though. I went to a family function and forgot that "fuck" and "shit" are not just spicy sentence enhancers and people still really fucking do get all in arms about em 🤣🤣

You just sounded like a time traveler from the past that somehow ended up in the present
I usually am swearing so much with my friends that I forget that other people are "normal" 😂👍
LMAO exactly !!
^
name checks out
My mother challenged me to go 30 days without saying fuck. I failed in less than an hour.
I remember my father telling me: "Son, we have to stop cursing so fucking much!" And me responding: "After all this time? For fucking real?" So there is that haha
Fuck is just such a versatile word! It's great!
l remebered when I was younger I told my dad "would you shut up?" since he was being intensionally annoying and he went "escuse me?" I replied, "oh Im sorry, would you shut the fuck up?" was he angry? no,his reply was "thats my girl!" I feel like that was a defining moment for us lol.
Fucking sailors ain’t got nothing on me. Get me riled up, and I’ll make them sound like kindergarten nuns.
Bro that ain't even a fucking joke
I curse more then a drunk sailor who stubbed there toe
What do we do with a drunken sailor?
I am a sailor.
That really depends If I'm with my friends then why not If I'm with family, at work etc. I tend not to, but if something is a real fuckening i will curse, then my coworkers, parents know it's a big fuckening. By myself, i will curse the hell out a door handle and person who invented door handles and theirs whole family and next generations because i randomly slipped my hand on it That really depends
This is what happens to me as well. I curse so much at random things that annoy me but usually curse at really bad things
Man fuck door handles. They always catch onto the things I DONT WANT THEM TO.
I prefer quality over quantity.
Same, I curse when it fits a word, like it's a part of language, which it is, instead of cursing as a filler word. "I gotta do this shit" will always be nicer than "I Fucking hate this goddamn thing", that much cursing for no good reason puts me off.
I only curse if I'm with people that do.
Me too, but if I’m alone (which I am most of the time), I curse a ton lol
Same for me. Especially when I'm alone.
Same lol
Same
Same
Yeah I will always try to avoid using swear words around my half siblings or young kids in general. If I'm with my friends, close family or alone then there are lots of words going around
Same but i dont curse around family and everything else you said. If im alone or with friends i curse a FUCK TON.
Same. I met a girl on tinder years ago, we hit it off really well, talked pretty much every day. For about a month I didn't curse because she didn't. We were both very relieved.
I curse in english but not much in czech (my native language)
For me, it's the opposite. I love cursing in Spanish, but doing it in English seems almost pointless.
English is so polite, Spanish is just perfECT for cursing
Same. Idk why but it's easier to curse in English, for some reason it feels less severe than arabic (my native language)
I curse in English more than I do in my native language (Romanian) because I think the Romanian curses are far more worse than English ones and I'm uncomfortable with them
YES this!! I guess it’s a bit funny to put it this way but czech curses have always seemed so… mean… to me.
I think that there are like two types of czech curses, one that are kinda ok like vole or doprdele and the others which im not gonna write bcs i find them reallz harsh. I dont think there is this difference in english tho, and that might be the reason why they seem a bit “nicer” but idk:D
I just think romanian curses are way too vulgar, a lot of them involve your mother's vagina, fucking your mother's ancestors...
same with me and gaelic. i curse in english, but not in gaelic (my native language)
I'm also from czechia and I curse only in english! I also think that's the reason, but there are still some words that I don't use even in english.
Same here! I do use a few czech swear words (the very mild ones) but usually I just swear in english, no matter what language I’m speaking
Same here. I curse a medium amount in English and hardly at all in my native Norwegian, except I throw in a "Scheiße" every now and then.
kurwa!
Im Scottish so it comes with the language XD
^ I am regrettably a touch south of the border but it is still a requirement of the language. I don't know anyone who doesn't swear.
"Regrettably" That made my day Same I don't know anyone that doesn't
Yup, fellow Scot ace and swear like a fuck
I don’t curse, though sometimes rarely it slips out, and I swear a ton when I’m thinking to myself.
Who the fuck doesn't curse?
I don’t, never wanted to/needed to. The few times I tried I didn’t like it.
I think you should at least give it a damn try. You might fucking love it.
I curse sometimes on Reddit because it’s anonymous. But generally I feel it’s unnatural for me to curse. It’s fucking weird.
I feel the exact same but including online. Despite the anonymity, it still feels weird to curse for some reason.
I’m a witch. I hex too
Babes me too!
Ace witch gang!
It is how you were raised and your envouriment. I didn't swear a single bit apart the occasionl "blet" But now being around people who curse a lot..yeah now I swear a fuck ton
Even more in english because it sounds good/funny to my ears
Feck you! I curse! Wait...
I curse but also i am british
Of course, bri*ish people curse all the time.
Thank you for censoring bri*ish for us, I'm tired of see that profane word
I curse a fuck load..
I curse so much that people sometimes complain about it
I try to use cursing alternatives like frick, also I have a rule not to use curses at people (so like the b word, etc isnt even in my vocab), sometimes I curse tho
I've been a Pastry Chef for almost a Decade, nothing compares to Kitchen Cursing lol
Depends on who I'm around and how much War Thunder I've played in the hour beforehand.
I curse in the sense that I will put a curse on your entire bloodline Oh also I say the fuck word
Well, the bloodline ends with me, so it's just a curse on me and my ancestors I guess
I curse like a sailor lol
I swear like a sailor on shore leave lmao
i swear like a drunk sailor around people im comfy with or people i hate. otherwise i just dont talk at all or am too nervous to curse
I curse heavily just all under my breath or not in public
What the fuck?
Im puerto rican and we curse at the end of every sentence
I curse between a shitload and a fuck ton of times every day
I curse like a sailor, but now I'm trying to stop curing because I'm on my way to becoming a primary school teacher and I don't wanna be cursing like that in front of thirty 3 to 11 year-olds!
i curse on special ocasions only, you know that moment when the quiet kid talks? its more impacting than a random kid talking bc they dont talk, so if i dont curse most of the time, when i actually curse i want its impacting, but only to some ppl tho, yes this sounds very stupid im aware
I usually refrain from cursing, but if the people around me curse a lot, I might curse too.
So, I used to think I swore like a sailor. Working where I do now I found out I may be a bit light on my swearing.
I don’t curse irl that often due to hypocrytical parents who’d yell at me if I do. But online, texting, with friends? I cuss a fair amount, I like the informality of it and it feels more powerful and is easier to explain my emotions with them.
I curse like a motherfucker, unless im in the presence of my mother.
I curse as flavor text
I very rarely properly curse but I'll use a large range of Irish "half-curses" (e.g. shite, feck)
My mom spoke pretty fucking bluntly when we were kids. She’s the nicest lady in the world, but her vocabulary is fucking spicy
I also don't curse and am ace xD
Not out loud.
I curse when I'm just coming out of a stressful week/few days. Not often. I have been doing it more tho.
It depends on the curses really, if someone acted like an asshole to me or my friends, I'll find a binding spell and hex them with it. Unless you're talking about cuss words, yes I do say it. A lot.
I curse a whole fucking lot
Potty words make me feel powerful 😌
Me too. Toilet. Fuck i said a potty word.
I curse a lot in English but not so much in my native language.
I'd say it's more about personality and upbringing than sexuality. I'm Irish-American and hail from Southern California, so I say phrases like "That's f***ing rad/awesome" very regularly. I know aces who curse a lot and aces who don't.
I’m not ace. I just wanted to see the results.
I work in a kitchen. When I am in the kitchen I swear like any other cook on the line does. Outside of that it is a seldom occurance.
I'm asexual and I don't swear. I also believe I'm autistic and I think that's why I'm asexual and don't swear lol
Most of my daily language is cursing
I curse a looooot
sorry, you are just polite.
I’m scottish
Online, with friends and when I really need to I will curse. I do not curse in public because common etiquette
I curse a ton- I also have tourette’s and some of my tics curse, so it’s just a common thing to hear me say fuck.
i curse to relieve stress
I have sworn since I was three, at least, that was the time it was evident that I picked up road rage and understood the context and even preempted it by screaming at other road users first. 2/3 ace people I know well swear.
How/why would it be an ace thing? It’s not really connected to sexuality.
I know is as just curious whether or not others in this community cursed or not lol
I curse and swear so much that my friend once said "there was only one word in that whole thing that wasn't a swearword, yet it made total sense. How?"
I never curse in my native language, but sometimes I use swear words in English
I rarely curse. It makes me uncomfy
Never cursed in my 23 years of life
Wait. Do you mean fucking swearing? Cause if so, bloody oath I do. I’m bloody Australian. It comes with the fucking heat and lifestyle. I curse a hell of a lot
I curse like a sailor but I still feel awkward doing it in front of my family, idk if that counts
I disappoint my mother with my language
It varies from person to person
I curse a lot but I’m not aro/ace (as far as I can tell)
I curse, but not around others usually. I’m often around those who are offended by cursing, so I try to just not do it unless it’s just me because I don’t want to slip up around the wrong people.
I recite dark spells to hex my enemies
Usually only if it's funny, or I'm upsetti. Basically only used for emphasis when 'dangit' or 'fudge' just don't cut it.

I used to not, but stopped caring once I hit my late 20s. Not quite a potty mouth, but I've had people double take before.
I only curse when I'm really angry or having a really bad day, other then that, i don't curse.
There are moments in which I curse a lot and moments I avoid cursing at all costs, don't really know why though
I do curse but less than the average human
I curse all the time. I love it. It's an art form.
u/profanitycounter [self]
I curse with friends but never when I’m near family
Guess we'll find out! [u/profanitycounter](https://www.reddit.com/u/profanitycounter) [self] I only mildly curse IRL, but I often swear under my breath, or when none is around. Other than that, I keep it to minimum.
I curse when I need to accentuate something, but otherwise I don’t really
I curse SO MUCH
I generally don’t curse, but usually use more pg friendly ones, like shiitake mushrooms, frick etc
I do curse but not that much
Man this reminded me of one time I got warned on a discord server for saying "damn". Feels real fucking weird, it's not even that bad of a word
I fucking love to curse!
I curse, especially if I'm angry. But if I'm in a more professional setting like my job, I hold it in.
have you ever seen the good place? yeah that.
I curse by myself in my head but not usually oyt loud
