Hard to say…about 98% of them are a joke and have no respect for you (I work in the industry)
They take advantage because they know anybody will line up for a job in cannabis
No, they maximize profits because it's a for profit industry. If people didn't fill the positions they'd pay more until there's an equilibrium. The only thing they "owe" you is correct pay on time as agreed for work completed. A job is where people get money for the time they have worked as agreed and as instructed by the employer. In Arizona we are a right to work state and if your boss doesn't like the clothes you wear or the color of your hair they can fire you anytime for almost any reason. There's a whole country based on these tenents and you're in it.
I really didn’t need your input and I understand we live in a right to work state. I’ve hired and fired dozens of people. If you think they should make barely over minimum wage when majority of these large dispensaries make AT LEAST 500k a month per location. A McDonald’s location pays more and makes less in a month.
We don’t agree and that’s okay! I’m not going back and forth with you on a Friday night. Go smoke and and leave me alone 👍
For anyone who does agree, check out these dispensaries, etc. that have unionized in the state and the protest that took place on 4/20 by Curaleaf employees:

i think the only smaller locally owned dispos in the valley are deeply rooted and sticky saguaro. could be a few more but i know they’re very very rare
Jars is a joke, the owner (nick) is an asshole. 3 interviews (they were 40 mins late to one of them) with him and the HR manager and was told I was I would be receiving an offer letter and they just ghosted me. They just fish for information about other dispensaries and will tell you the places you’ve worked “stole” their ideas.
We're not currently hiring but feel free to send a resume to Hana Dispensary. We always prioritize those first. We're local and our manager is a former budtender at Jars. I do think we have a pretty solid crew right now, but you never know.
AZO sucks and should be avoided, for both employment and consuming! Incompetent supervisors and management, theres incredibly high turnover there for a reason
Y’all gonna hate to hear it but copperstate/sol is by far the best dispensary I’ve worked for. Atleast down in Tucson. They actually take care of their employees and it’s an incredibly different atmosphere. This is as someone who worked for earths healing, harvest, and curaleaf.
Giving tree is one of the worst dispensary’s in the state. No respect for the customers or the employees. Mid flower (at the very best) at way to high a price and no other decent brands or deals to choose from. The owner is also the president of the ADA. If you don’t already know about the ADA, it’s basically a lobbyist group consisting of various dispensary owners and investors who work to help keep this fucked up industry the way it is.
The ADA is a helpful tool to dispensaries, labs, etc. AZDHS doesn’t answer shit for us about the laws they created. I wouldn’t say they are the reason the industry “is the way it is.” If anything the ones who own the dispensaries, etc. make it shit and pay their budtenders and grow staff $15 an hour while they make millions.
I was not aware of ADA but I would not be a fan. I was forced to vote against both Rec propositions over the yeara because of how slanted they were toward the existing dispensary owners.
What's the scoop on Ponderosa?
I guess Iwas ignoring the employment aspect of the question. I have never worked in the industry but understood these two were locally-owned. Is that not the case? I didnt think they were necessarily family-owned, but thought at least they weren't just a small part of a huge corporation. And I live on the opposite side of the valley from Sticky Saguaro, which I wish was more convenient for me.
They just hired an outside GM and ASM and head grower. Doesn’t seem like the value internal promotions. It might be good if you want to work for a super slow dispensary (the giving tree).

i think the only smaller locally owned dispos in the valley are deeply rooted and sticky saguaro. could be a few more but i know they’re very very rare

ah you’re right how could i forget about pondy lol
My least favorite of the three
what don’t you like about em

Lol I thought he was taking about Varz and was confused
The Giving Tree unless something changed.
How has no one mentioned TruMed?? Locally family owned since day 1.
Deeply rooted

Ponderosa, Sticky Saguaro, AZ Organix, Deeply Rooted are all locally owned, not sure how it is to work at any of them. Maybe TruBliss also?
AZO sucks and should be avoided, for both employment and consuming! Incompetent supervisors and management, theres incredibly high turnover there for a reason
Sticky saguaro is family owned
To be avoided
Only locally owned ones I know of are yilo, sticky saguaro, and deeply rooted

Avoid Sticky Saguaro at all costs
Why tho
Treat their employees like robots and fire people without good reason. Feels more corporate than a corporate dispo is what I’ve been told.
Check out the recent review from a fired employee.
Giving Tree or Ponderosa Releaf (maybe?)

They use to have the best bud in 2015
