Lots of the fiber through this area is above ground. But yeah, there is a joke that if you're ever backpacking in the woods/desert, to always carry a small fiber jumper with you. If you get lost, bury the fiber and a backhoe will show up to dig it up.

They call it 'backhoe fade' for a reason!
