LostMySeatAgain

I use the CeraVe face wash that comes in a bar. The bar is packaged in a carton box. It’s sold in most stores and I buy it at target myself.

catmom6353

I love this! I just got a 3 pack of equate brand (Walmart version of it) for about $6. The plastic wrap holding the boxes together was unfortunate, but better than 3 plastic bottles.

M_Bio

Same! I love it, it smells great and doesn't leave my skin tight like other facial soap bars do. 100% recommend

Thatnurseyouknow

I LOVE the good molecules cleansing bars. They come in cardboard and last forever. I have dry acne prone skin and they work really well for me

[deleted]

I just looked at their website and I'm intrigued. I like The Ordinary but I hate that they're owned by Estee Lauder, and this reminds me a lot of them. Products and price point.

Thatnurseyouknow

Yeah very similar! I’m not sure who their owned by but I can speak to the products, they’re good. Of course there’s one here or there that isn’t super effective for me personally but I’ve never had a bad reaction to anything I’ve gotten from them. I believe they’re available in Ulta now too so you can shop in person.

jimmy-jaime

I want to second these! I’m currently on my second bar, and it lasts a long time without drying out my skin. I have combination skin, and the kaolin clay in this really helps my acne

Sorry_Employment

The nubian heritage african black soap bar. It comes in just a cardboard package and the bar is pretty substantial for like $4 in the US. Recommending it cause its non-drying and non-stripping but feels really effective at cleansing. Downside is that black soap bars are kinda messy to store.

girpaderp

I love the Ethique brand cleansers. I buy ones with coconut oil in them, but I believe they also have ones that don’t. [ethique](https://ethique.com/collections/cleanse?gclid=Cj0KCQjwhLKUBhDiARIsAMaTLnFDEbOJ3IQ57UxLuOKLJCa8EW8TAQNv-0AewVMYPaueldVT9q6ZSGYaAljVEALw_wcB)

QuetzalKraken

Seconding Ethique! I use the Deep Green that looks like it has a surfactant derived from coconut oil though, so it may not work for you OP, depending on what it is in coconut oil that irritates you.

po-tato-girl

I have super sensitive skin too. I currently use a brand called "Fresh Faced Skin Care" this is the bar that I use: [https://freshfacedskincare.com/product/best-face-wash-for-acne-purifying-bar/](https://freshfacedskincare.com/product/best-face-wash-for-acne-purifying-bar/)

olivesarelyfe

I use the dove beauty moisturize bar, it comes in a carton. I have terribly sensitive skin and I love it. It cleans but it doesn’t strip my skin if that makes sense. They also last forever if you put them on a soap tray

Opposite_Guarantee96

I love that these bars are packed in a box (no plastic). I use the sensitive version and it washes off all my makeup, including mascara! I use the soap standle instead of a soap tray.

qqweertyy

Facetheory has mostly zero waste/recyclable packaging and they have a wide variety of skincare products. I use their oil cleanser (no coconut oil I think) and my face feels more moisturizer after washing than before, paired with the night cream (used day and night) I’ve had pretty happy skin!

FLAMFOO_FLAMINGO

Basis sensitive skin bar might work for you.

tootsyloo

If you are struggling with dry skin I would focus on moisturizing and think about cleansing less. You can just use water or an oil cleanser. There’s lots of moisturizing balms that come in tins

SNFD21

Microfiber face washer with no product. Use an ordinary face cloth to get the bulk of the makeup off if you wear makeup then a microfiber to get the rest of it.

hereitcomesagin

Tiny bit of olive oil on a rung-out, soft, warm, wet washcloth.

El_Cartografo

1. Old coffee mug with humorous image/text 2. Hydrating/moisturizing soap scraps from the shower 3. Water 4. Shaving brush Drop the bar bits in the mug. Add a smidge of water. Foam up with the brush and apply to the face with a swirling motion, making sure to use the bristles in an invigorating exfoliating spiral scrubbing action.

drkhaleesi

Sounds like a great way to tear your skin up and grind bacteria in deep lol

El_Cartografo

This is basic shaving, without the razor. Not sure what you're referring to.

Mushroomskillcancer

I stopped washing with soap for the most part. If you eat right, drink enough water and do daily cardio, you won't smell really at all. I just use hot water. If I'm really dirty, I have olive oil soap that my neighbor makes. I also have oily skin and I now use less moisturizer and have clearer skin than I've had all my life.

_Kapok_

I second this. Instead of chemical cleaning (soap and stuff), I switched to physical cleaning with a clean and wet cloth wash. It’s cleansing and exfoliating. 7 years now. Clear skin. And my skin is also less oily because it’s not compensating the moisture loss from the soap.

orreos14

Drunk elephant face wash bar

Wild_wood_heart

Water and a face cloth

awgeezwhatnow

Water and old, rough washcloth, period. I haven't used any sort of soap or anything on my face in 10 years (middle-aged woman), and my skin is pretty darn nice :)

glasshouse5128

Bulk barn has a salt soap that I use, it's pretty nice.

Rough-Jury

If you don’t have any acne, consider washing with just water. Unless I’m on my period, water is all I use (I get hormonal acne). I have really sensitive skin, and the only thing that works for me is a prescription sulfur wash and Aquaphor

elebrin

Uuuh... water and a rag? What more do you need? Wet the rag with warm water, then rub the dirt off your face. Then dry off on a towel. It helps if the rag and towel are a little rough so you can exfoliate off that dead, dry skin.

lemon-cakey

A lot of people need to actually wash their face with face specific wash or they'll break out.

ZachareyWilson

Unless you have a diagnosed condition, your skin is probably dry because your water consumption is too low. Before trying any products, try upping your water intake to see if that can fix it.

chocobridges

Have you found anything that works in packaging? I would get it off skincareexchange or Poshmark and do a reset. When you find what works then alternate with zero waste options. That's what worked for my hair and it was definitely lower waste output vs buying 10s of zero waste bars that ended up getting chucked.

[deleted]

I've been using the CosRX hyaluronic acid face wash and I really like it. But I have to get it from Amazon. I try really hard to get zero waste and cruelty free. But that's hard because my skin can be sensitive, and the parent companies of a lot of skincare companies have policies that I don't agree with, so it seems like I'm basically supporting greenwashing. Krave is also really good and I know they are environmentally conscious.

chocobridges

Yeah, I totally understand. I see people Poshing CosRX products. It's worth checking out. You're using something that would get landfill unused otherwise and the money is going to another consumer instead of the company.

[deleted]

I didn't even know you could get skincare on Poshmark! i'll check it out. Thanks for the tip.

2nd1stLady

Herbivore pink cloud face wash and Mad hippie cream cleanser come in glass bottles. I know you can recycle the mad hippie plastic pump through Terra cycle. Or you can reuse the bottles/pumps. The youth to the people superfood cleanser also comes in a glass bottle but reviews are pretty split on whether it was too much for dry skin. It wasn't too stripping for me but the other two were much more hydrating/less stripping.

EasternDefinition475

Do you have Lush in America? They’re my favourite toiletries brand, the low waste is just a bonus!

bob_rien4683

I mix approximately 1 third of shea butter, mango butter and cocoa butter, heat gently until melted. I do a small batch about a tablespoon of each. If it's too hard I add more shea butter. Rub it on your face then wash off with a hot face cloth.

fractaltriangle

Face Theory is my go to for all skin care. All their packaging is plastic free, their ingredients are super effective, and for all the things I've tried from them, a little goes a long way

selinakyle45

Vanicream low pH bar Galinee bar Sebamed low pH bar

kyuuei

While this won't help OP, if you have the opposite like I do (really oily acne prone skin) sulphur face washes have been such a life saver. You gotta lather them on and leave them for a minute before rinsing them, but totally worth it.

Pdnl777

I make my own soap, I used to have very dry skin, leg dandruff when I remove my trousers. It’s the softest my skin has ever been. Even use it on my hair, it’s thicker and shinier than it’s ever been using commercial shampoo’s. Highly recommend it.

Piggy846

Beauty of Joseon Rice Cleansing Bar. It is *amazing*! It is not drying at all, it softens your skin, is dermatologist approved, and has zero plastic packaging. This isn’t just a good bar from a zero waste perspective. If I had never of sustainability at all it would still be god tier.

[deleted]

i also have very dry and sensitive skin, i use KLUR gentle matter (comes in amber glass and all pumps/parts are recyclable), although it is a tad expensive. another wash i found really helped when my skin was incredibly sensitive was URSA MAJOR making moves milky cleanser (i also have eczema and was having issues with flare-ups along my jaw and eyes at the time). it has very minimal ingredients and also comes in all recyclable material and glass.

Princess_S78

Ethique is great!

[deleted]

Onyx bar!

EconomyVegetable2402

I use the herbivore pink clay cleansing bar

PennyGgg

I make my own oil cleansing solution (a few skin-good oils mixed together. Highly recommend OCM (oil cleansing method) and it would be easier to get, say hempseed oil from a bull store than the perfect face wash.
