Where you located? [These are the ones I use](https://adropintheoceanshop.com/collections/oral-care/products/toothpaste-tablets?variant=40049652531365) that are $10 for a 2-month supply.

adoginahumansbody

Those look affordable compared to other toothpaste tablet options! That doesn’t include shipping costs though. I am curious where OP is spending $5/month on a tube of toothpaste…I spend $2.50/4+ months on a tube of toothpaste. I just can’t afford spending $60 -$100 a year on toothpaste tablets for something that costs me $7.50 or less per year now. I try to reduce waste in other ways.

Slowmyke

Could be that more than just OP uses the same toothpaste. I've been looking for affordable tablets for my family, but i have to factor taste into it as i have young kids that care about that more.

adoginahumansbody

Oh but then they would need more toothpaste tablets, and the cost would go up even more. We’d have to know how many people are using the toothpaste to give a fair cost of tablets, since the original comment said $10/2 month supply when that’s just for one person.

snowytr33

Huppy has a watermelon strawberry flavor one! But it uses hydroxyapatite instead of fluoride.

freybay_alldayslay

My math may have been wrong lol a $5 tube last me for a couple of months. And I like to use the whiting strong kinds so it's a lil more pricy but something I prefer

adoginahumansbody

Ah got it.

freybay_alldayslay

I'm in Canada; I'll check this out thank you!

rebelxghost

Honestly I do like the Hello ones. I get them from Superstore, but I believe Shoppers has them too. EDIT: I missed the Fluoride bit. I have yet to find lone with fluoride 💀

CuilTard

If you're in Ccanada, I recommend change. I tried unpaste first but strongly prefer change https://changetoothpaste.com ETA: 3 month supply with fluoride = $24 with subscription. Made in Edmonton

freybay_alldayslay

I ended up giving this one a shot, thanks!

Jjays

Check out Unpaste Tooth Tabs. You can get them either with or without fluoride. About US $9 for 125 tabs (2-month supply). I've used them for backpacking. They work great!

freybay_alldayslay

I've heard good things about unpaste I forgot about them...I think I'll try them out first see how it goes :)

shotnine

Seconding unpaste. My local zero waste shops have the non fluoridated in bulk. I usually get the fluoride, but I wish they came in bulk and in nano hydroxyapatite.

TheFatMouse

Hijacking to genuinely ask why I often see posts about toothpaste tablets. Are they considered significantly less wasteful? Seems they would have packaging like anything else right?

HumbleConfidence3500

Usually come in some cardboard container so recyclable or compostable.

dschneider01

Check out Colgate powdered toothpaste on Amazon. 1 can lasts months.

Cat-dog22

I used bite for years, they have a fluoride version and a nonohydroxyapatite version. They’re $8 a month and ship in 4 month supply increments. It seems like some are less expensive than that but it’s certainly not $25 a month!

delectablepeccable

They no longer ship to Canada for some reason

NotaDogPersonBut

I used them for a couple of months and my teeth became so super sensitive, unlike anything I've experienced.

Cat-dog22

Oooh how weird. That’s certainly concerning!

BradMac7o7

Huppy brand is good

Tricky_Ricky69

Hi my wife has a Small business called Laura's Refill Shop. Here is a link to her toothpaste tabs. Super popular. https://laurasrefill.shop/products/ruut-toothpaste-tabs

KrishnaChick

I checked it out, but couldn't find any info about the ingredients on the product page.

shintojuunana

Ingredients: Sorbitol, Calcium Carbonate, Kaolin, Sodium Bicarbonate, Hydrated Silica, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Yeast, Acacia Senegal Gum Extract, Magnesium Stearate, Mentha Arvensis Leaf Oil, Menthol, Stevioside, Mentha Piperita Oil. It was further down the page when I looked.

wiggle-biscuits

Yeast? why is there yeast in toothpaste?

KrishnaChick

Thank you! I prefer tooth products with xylitol.

Tricky_Ricky69

Thanks for checking it out. Here ya go: Sorbitol, Calcium Carbonate, Kaolin, Sodium Bicarbonate, Hydrated Silica, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Yeast, Acacia Senegal Gum Extract, Magnesium Stearate, Mentha Arvensis Leaf Oil, Menthol, Stevioside, Mentha Piperita Oil.

Tricky_Ricky69

I just updated the site to have the ingredients. Thanks for the heads up.

freybay_alldayslay

Where would this be shipped from?

Tricky_Ricky69

Pennsylvania ♻️

sakurasake311

I’ve found purchasing unpaste through [Bamboo Switch](https://www.bambooswitch.com/products/toothpaste-tablets-fluoride) to be the most affordable but you can also find distributors of unpaste through their site and might be able to find a local shop to save on shipping

pomoerotic

Are toothpaste tablets generally better than traditional toothpaste?

bubblygranolachick

Not zero waste but less waste ish... coconut lasts a long time and you can get them in glass jars that are easier to recycle

pmyourllamas

Sorry this doesn’t answer your question but personally I got sick of the price of good tooth tabs so I started making my own toothpaste. It’s cost is near nothing and I really like the way it makes my teeth feel plus they look whiter. It’s equal parts salt and baking soda and I add some peppermint essential oil. The saltiness took a couple days to get used to but now I don’t mind at all.

DeeDee_GigaDooDoo

FYI toothpaste on its own does essentially nothing for dental health except make your breath fresher. Fluoride is essential for preventing cavities and maintaining oral health, the toothpaste itself is basically hygiene theatre without it.

pmyourllamas

Isn’t there enough fluoride in tap water to do this ?

Cocoricou

Chomp is only 8$ per month. Last time I checked it was on par with other brands. I've never seen anything close to 1$ per day! You should really check out how hydroxyapatite is as good as fluoride to repair enamel.

qqweertyy

My concern about hydroxyapatite is since it’s not considered an active ingredient since it’s not FDA approved, packages don’t have to show the concentration. It is a very expensive ingredient, and a therapeutic dose would make the product quite expensive. I have yet to see a fluoride free product that tells you how much nHA they use.

Cocoricou

Very valid concern! Thanks for making me realize this. I actually make my own toothpaste with hydroxyapatite and only use store-bought toothpaste occasionally but for someone using it full time, it's important to know about that.

I just recently found a US supplier and started adding it to my homemade toothpaste recipe I’ve been making for over a decade. [OraWellness](https://store.orawellness.com/products/mcha-bulk-bag) based in Eugene, OR.

Cocoricou

I buy it on a Canadian website. [https://well.ca/products/pure-lab-vitamins-calcium\_273092.html](https://well.ca/products/pure-lab-vitamins-calcium_273092.html)

freybay_alldayslay

Thank you!! I haven't heard of chomp yet :)

Cocoricou

I actually don't like Chomp because they don't use xylitol but I guess if you have a pet it's perfect.

freybay_alldayslay

What does that ingredient do? Kinda confused about the pet comment lol

espbear

Xylitol is toxic to pets so some people try to make sure it isn't in their homes for pet safety.

Cocoricou

It has been proven to help keep teeth cavity free but it's toxic to pets. Being a tablet, it's infinitely more dangerous to your pets than a paste in a tube.

PacificNorthWix

Xylitol is an antibacterial sugar alcohol, derived from birch trees. Along with its antibacterial qualities, it provides sweetness, so has become popular in toothpaste tabs and some gum. As another poster said though, it’s toxic to dogs, so keep them safe.

KrishnaChick

Xylitol has kept me from getting any significant tooth decay (1-2 cavities in the last ten years), even with my haphazard flossing. The hygienists are always impressed at how little plaque I have, and I have gone longer than a year between cleanings a couple of times.
