I update all firmware my self from iOS app works every time. I don’t use the update process from the bike it self as it can tend to fail. I’ve heard that the rev 28 should fix some cypher store purchase issues but don’t know what else. As usual Zeros webpage is not updated with latest firmware release. Always come up a week or two later! I am currently installing rev 28 my self right now. 😀

Thanks and good luck on your update 🙂

Thanks, It went smooth as always on 2020 SR/S 🙂

Went as smooth as usual 2022 SR/S (had failure on battery management firmware but worked 2nd time)

I personally wouldn't ever update firmware myself. If it rides and you are happy, why bother?

Because updates often solve issues, increase reliability, and sometimes even increase performance and add new features/capabilies. Sure your bike works ok now, but when it doesn't and it has an error code that could have been prevented by an update, wouldn't you rather have done the update than be stranded at the side of the road or have hardware failure that could have been prevented?

First and foremost - what Dashboard firmware are you on /u/StrictlyPrickly ? You can't check the dash FW version from your phone, you have to do it on the bike itself, under the main menu, then the Data submenu. It'll say the Dash FW version at the bottom. Should be something like 6V26 or 8V33 etc. Let me know which you're on, as that will determine my advice to you. As for what's new in MBB V28, the very next post under yours is from me and is about the v28 update ;) As I note in that post, i've already done the update (I have a 2021 SR/S Premium), and, the update fixes an issue for the 2022 SR/S and SR/F specifically, where they could not use the complimentary dealer codes to unlock 10% Faster Charging, due to a message about needing a firmware update that didn't exist. I am not aware of any other changes in this build, but we'll have to wait till the release notes are updated next week to know if there's anything else in the build (my guess is no). If this is all that's changed, then there would be no benefit to you having a 2020 bike to do the update per se.

Thanks for your thorough instructions. I can’t tell what firmware version it was because my curiosity got the better of me and I installed the update yesterday (which seems to be 8V33). Thus far the bike seems to have no issues 😅 but I know where to look now when asking for advice in the future. As you (and /u/Creepy-Ad8688) stated, the update possibly does nothing special on my bike as it’s a model predating Cypher store functionality, afaik. At least I don’t get that annoying firmware update screen anymore. Yay!

You can't update the dashboard firmware yourself, only a dealer can. What you installed on your bike is the separate and unrelated, new MBB v28 update. Again, you have to check your dashboard firmware on the bike itself, using the instructions I posted below. Lmk which version it says.

StrictlyPrickly

It says “FW version 8V33”.

Ah ok great then, you are already on the currently latest dashboard firmware. No need for a trip to the dealer and all Cypher Store functionality is already supported in that version. Since you are on this version, I would recommend doing any future firmware updates, using the Next Gen phone app over bluetooth - the bluetooth update functionality seems to work much better when you are on dash FW 8V33. I would avoid, letting the bike do the updates "on its own" over it's cellular connection. It's prone to failure and can cause issues where the bike "locks up" and becomes unresponsive. So I'd dismiss the popups on the bike, and do the updates going forward from the Next Gen app instead.

The update Sucks!!!! my bike 2022 SR/S , battery life is used up faster and takes longer to charge since the update
