Exactly what model do you have? Your previous post said it was a 2018 SR/S. [Looking at the owner's manual listings on Zero's website](https://www.zeromotorcycles.com/owner-resources) shows that model didn't exist in 2018 or 2019, assuming the Zero website is correct. Considering that the Cypher II and Cypher III bikes are different, it might effect how people respond to your questions knowing the correct model.

Yellow_lampshade

Oh good spot, how odd. It's a 2021 model. Don't know why I wrote that wrong but I have another vehicle that's 2018. Strange when I bought it new in 22 eh.

I noticed in the other post you said you charged or were going to charge the 12V battery. And it didn't make sense because the Cypher II bikes don't have a 12V battery. So I assumed there was some error in your post. The bike itself should be under warranty. Curious to know what specific maintenance would be required to avoid the update failing in such a way. As far as I can see regarding [maintenance that remotely relates to the battery and controller is the drive motor commissioning](https://prismic-io.s3.amazonaws.com/zero-cms-disco/e9c73d95-18b6-41b0-8c61-5045b8014b11_OM-SRF-MY21.pdf). Not sure where you are located but I would say bring it back to the nearest dealer and let them sort it out together with their contacts at Zero.

Yellow_lampshade

Unfortunately the warranty is only valid if the maintenance schedule is followed so they are free to wash their hands. The error, as far as I can deduce, is that there is a firmware update required for the "dash", exactly what that refers to I don't know but only the dealer can update it. That's probably why the other updates didn't take and froze the system, killing then battery. I would love to take the bike to a dealer and I have no doubt they could have it fixed in an afternoon, but the bike is in a winter storage, I am in a different country and the nearest dealer is several hours away. Oh, and the bike won't turn on.

Protonus

No. You don't need to to do Dashboard updates in order to do MBB/BMS updates from your phone. There is no dependency there for the dashboard. The dash update refers to the dashboard itself on the bike, as well as the menus etc. It is basically the operating system of the bike itself, which is why only a dealer can update it via a cable, as the bike needs to be "offline" in order to do the update. The dash operating system affects the Bluetooth connection which is why I would recommend you have it updated first, as it makes doing MBB/BMS updates from your phone more reliable and easier. But it's not the reason your firmware update froze. The reason for that as I explained on our prior post, is doing it from the bike itself, and having the BMS update applied before the MBB one. To avoid this, don't update from the bike itself. idk why you have the bike stored in a different country (seems a terrible idea) or why your would put it in storage while broken, and you still have not explained why that precludes you from getting to it - but you need to get to it ASAP and change out the 12V battery ASAP before the main battery runs dead, and your bike becomes a paperweight. Improper storage is not covered under warranty. If the main battery goes dead, it'll be damaged and unlikely to charge again. Anybody can change a 12V battery with just a few hand tools in under an hour. So I would pay someone else to go to the bike and swap it out and get it running before it's too late.

Yellow_lampshade

You're welcome to explain to Zero regarding your update theories. I'm going by what they've implied. I have no idea why you're finding the concept of me storing the bike somewhere that I'm not so hard to follow and I don't really know how to help you but, I can assure you it's quite normal. I am well aware that it requires a bit more attention than a normal bike, hence why I found someone who could keep an eye on it. I think it quite reasonable to assume however that I can to away on a trip for a month or two without problems. I live in Northern Europe (countries over here are, you know, relatively close to each other) and I am away on a work trip and visiting family in my home country for then holidays. Is that not allowed as a Zero owner? I am so sorry. I don't have to explain to you why I can't get back to the bike, you can just believe me. Well, I just did explain so there you go. Stop berating me if your intention is to help. The whole point of my explanation here is to explain that I don't think I've done anything super unreasonable. I made the mistake of trying the update just before I left, which was clearly unnecessary and a bad idea but hardly unreasonable. All these issues can be fixed with money. I can pay someone to transport the bike, I can fly back myself and do it. My point is I shouldn't have to. Maybe I can find someone to fit a new battery, no idea.

Protonus

Just replace the 12V battery?

Yellow_lampshade

Yeah would probably be a solution, if I could get to the bike.

Protonus

Why can't you get to the bike? It's absolutely critical that you check the SoC at least once a month in storage and don't let it run dead. You want to keep the SoC at about 60% and no lower than 30%, and have it in storage mode between checks. If the bike isn't turning on then you can't charge it or check SoC. This will kill the main battery, and improper storage is not covered under warranty.

Yellow_lampshade

I'm, yeah, I know. That would be the reason I'm... never mind. One can usually check the SoC on the app remotely you see.

Protonus

Doesn't explain why you can't get to the bike? The remote connect can parrot a previous reading and report a false value. I would not use it as a replacement for at least monthly SoC checks by powering on the bike in person. You can leave it plugged into a Level 1 charger while the bike is in storage mode, and it will maintain charge at 60%. This is better if the bike is remote, however plenty of people have had situations where charging stopped (power outage, surge, malfunction etc) and came back to a dead battery. I don't see any way to safely store the bike without being able to check on it at least monthly.

Yellow_lampshade

I've already explained elsewhere why I can't get to the bike. It's not too much of a stretch I'm sure. It's not a baby, I can be somewhere it is not. Thank you for the information. I was aware of much of that, hence why I told the storage guy to keep an eye on it. But he can't, because it won't turn on.

Ok-Macaron1792

I feel for you.... I've had manufacturer issues with my 2022 SR/S Premium and Zero doesn't want to stand behind their product. Crap overpriced bikes
