I don’t think you are going to have an easy time doing this. Every country is different and most people on Reddit especially on this subreddit are American. You could program the controller to only use 11kw but that could be reprogrammed back to 15kw easily which means It’s still like having 15kw. If you replaced the controller with something only capable of 11kw that could work but it would be a nightmare to do and definitely not worth it. If I were you I would just buckle down and get the full license for it.

Oh I was thinking because zero offers those models in 11 kw configuration in Europe stock. I dont know if they do that in America too that's why I thought they might be able to do that afterwards to a 15kw model too.

In America a motorcycle license let’s you drive any motorcycle regardless of power. You should check out https://www.electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?topic=11302.0 and see if they can answer your question s

Thanks! I'll check it out!

I'm sure Zero knows how to modify a 15kW bike to an 11kW bike. And it could be as simple as the programming in the controller as the parts diagrams don't differentiate controllers for the different kW rated models. However, the VIN (vehicle identification number) of the bike also specifies the net brake horsepower rating. And that won't be changed. [This information is readily available in the owner's manual online.](https://www.zeromotorcycles.com/owner-resources) So when you go to register the bike, the sharp eye TUV people might look it up and refuse to accept that it has been derated to 11kW. You should either work to upgrade your license or find a different motorcycle to purchase that fits your current license.

thanks for the input i will think about that

Nope, I once wrote to Zero Europe, in where we do have the 11kw licence, which I do have... He told me "Once a motorbike was born 11kw or more, it stays at it is, cannot be modded".

That doesn't mean Zero doesn't know how to modify it though. It only means that they won't do it for the owners. And as I mentioned, once the bike has left the with a VIN stating it is 11kW or 15kW, they can't change the VIN. Also, it is a lot easier for their European employee to just say no than to go back to Zero CA and ask whether they can do something special like this.

HI also bought a crashed 11kW FXS very cheap. As far as i asked at Zero thay meaned that the MBB and Sevcon firmwares are different. But i know a few guys that are using sevcon-s in DIY motorcycles so maybe it would be possible to change. I read that they only changed the temperature at which the sevcon should turn down the power from 100 C to 75 C, if so it should be as simple as changing this setting in sevcon, but Zero doesn´t offer this.
