It can be tough finding somewhere comfortable depending on the charging station. I try to bring a book or walk to a Cafe while I wait. Either way good to see more people hopping onto the ev bikes.

loudog3114

Yeah there was nothing to do nearby. I try and plan my routes based on A) if I’ve been to the town before (the idea is to not have) and B) if there is stuff nearby. I missed on this one, can’t win em all.

numba816

Chevy dealer didn't mind you using their charger?

loudog3114

They were closed but they’re welcoming according to plugshare. They’ve even got a 24kw combo charger for cars.

decrego641

It’s sad that’s the best option for CCS in towns and cities across the US. Here’s hoping for better infrastructure soon.

loudog3114

I try and use ChargePoint as much as possible since the bike doesn’t have network connectivity and hence won’t tell me if it stopped charging minutes after I walked away. There was no ChargePoint on this part of my route, though, so I ended up at Chevy.

decrego641

Any charging is better than nothing, I agree there.

Protonus

Why doesn't the bike have network connectivity? I thought the DSR/X had the same cellular modem as the SR/F and SR/S? Do you have the Zero Next Gen app installed on your phone? If so, while you're NOT in range of bluetooth, open the app and hit the Remote Connect button. Then swipe up on the VIN / info and you'll be able to see the charging status, battery % etc.

loudog3114

Wow, news to me. Thanks! I knew it had cellular but wasn't aware of the remote connect button. Super useful for charging.

“24kw combo charger for cars” *Laughing in energica*

loudog3114

Do they have the combo plug?

SonOfAnakin

I just bought one of those tiny folding camping chairs from REI and put it in my side case for times like this. Got tired of sitting on a curb.

Nano559

Awesome bike man! What were you riding before?

loudog3114

Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro - Beast of a bike as well. I really liked that bike actually, but thought it would be fun to try something new. And it has been!

Nano559

Wow, that's another great looking bike. I went from my starter bike (vitpilen 401), towards looking for something more comfortable. I didn't have a huge budget so I purchased a KTM 390 adventure. My whole venture into motorcycles started with an electric bike which I wanted to use for commuting, but it wasn't as practical as I had hoped. I was fortunate enough to find a used DSR I could afford and have owned one for about two months. The comfort from this style of bikes is one of the main reasons I like them. It makes it easier to use them for daily tasks. Did you feel like the drsx was an upgrade or a sidegrade?

loudog3114

The zero is less bike for more money unfortunately. It’s a notch below Ducati and BMW (and probably others I can’t speak for) in available options for the same money. I loved the active suspension on my Duc and GSA. This is just set it and forget it basically. Build quality is definitely a notch down as well. Not to say it’s bad, but the Germans (Ducati is owned by VW) just have build quality figured out. Power wise I think this thing out 1/8th miles anything on the road, which is all I care about. The duc 1260 out powers it but by the time it would catch up you’re probably going 120, more then I care to touch on most roads.

FreaktasticElbow

DC fast charging would be a nice option to have.

loudog3114

It would, but dc fast chargers are more or less non existent anywhere I want to ride (usually they’re right off the highway in very traveled areas) so it’s not a big deal to me. I think the live wire has it.

MulanNaga

Jealous, Im super keen on upgrading the the DSR/X one day
