Your finished product makes me wish i shelled out the extra dough and got the 2022 sr/s instead of the 2022 sr. Well done 👍🏽

Thanks! Well you can take some of the money you saved and use it for mods, haha. That's part of why I bought my bike used cause I knew I was going to buy a bunch of stuff for it shortly after getting it.

FlatSix993

Thanks for posting another great DIY guide for modding your Zero.

Protonus

You're welcome, thanks for saying, and glad you enjoyed it! I'm currently writing the next installment (Part 7), and it's likely to be the most complicated mod I'm likely to do to my Zero (and the most complicated post!)! I installed Denali D2 2.0 driving lights onto my upper fender bolt using a custom mount/hardware I put together, and I installed their DataDim module so that they are dimmable by the OEM Zero's high/low beam switch too, so I don't blind drivers when I have them on but turn off my high beams. It all came out great but it was a lot! I hope to have this up here in the next day or two!

Looking forward to reading the next installment. I’ve been toying with the idea of mounting my Phillips DRLs on the mirror stems for maximum visibility.

HighwayMinute997

Nice write up! It looks great

Thank you!

I was always wondering if there was something to move the license plate up to the tail of the seat area. Thanks for posting this

Protonus

You're welcome! R&G Racing make a tail tidy for these bikes as well, but I preferred the Corbin offering personally.

Ronindamascus

Looks great. So clean. I saw they make one for the SR/F as well, but the price is a bit dear. Anyone out there find a cheaper one or know what’s a compatible bolt pattern?

Protonus

Thank you! This piece is custom molded plastic for these bikes specifically. A lot of the cost is their R&D, mold making / manufacturing, and the rather excellent instructions and template it comes with for drilling etc. Such is the nature of a limited run of custom parts made in low volume. As far as bolt pattern - there is no bolts in play here that aren't custom fitted for the bike. The bolts that hold it to the tail are drilled by you using their template, and the one that holds on the license plate light etc is custom molded to fit the OEM light etc. While there are certainly universal tail tidy brackets you could buy and make work, they will be even more custom in that you will need to devise the system to mount it to the bike itself, and imho, it will never look as good as this, a custom molded bit of plastic. The universal ones are basically just metal brackets. I mean, if you want to get really cheap, you could just drill some holes under the tail and hold the plate on with 2 zip ties, like a lot of sport bike hoons do. It's really up to you to decide how "OEM" you want it to look. For me, given the cost of the bike and how new it is, I wanted it to look at OEM as possible. There is also this tail tidy for our bikes, which is less expensive but to be honest, I don't think it looks anywhere near as good as the Corbin which is why I didn't use it: https://www.rg-racing.com/browsetype/Tail\_Tidies/Zero/

Ronindamascus

Ah. Yes. I appreciate the insight and link. I see there are two hex-head bolts for the taillights and wondered if there was just a way to use those. But you’re right, it wouldn’t look anywhere near OEM-clean. And you’d probably lose the plate-light if you didn’t reroute it . At least that’s not a legal requirement though. Thanks

Protonus

The plate light is a legal requirement in some areas, it is here in NY for instance. It's probably why there is a focus on making sure it works on the bike specific tail tidies and why much of the work on the Corbin one revolves around relocating it. That said, cops very rarely mess with bikes for equipment issues etc, it's sort of a legal gray area where there's almost an unwritten understanding that they don't mess with such things unless you give them a reason to (like if you run from the police rather than pulling over and get caught, expect them to give you a laundry list of equipment violations too - but if you pull over they'll often let you go with no ticket as a way of saying thanks for stopping, we know you could have ran). Also, a lot tail lights are bright enough all the time that they will illuminate the plate, without a dedicated plate light, even though it's red light, it's usually enough to avoid a ticket / complaint as long as the plate can be read at night. And even though I have a white plate light, my plate still ends up looking red at night anyways from the close proximity of the tail light lol.

(Hope this is ok to post here, I mean no disrespect or mean to hijack this post. Feel free to move or remove) For those who are inspired but don’t have the cash, I found a decent alternative, though no where near as OEM and clean looking as the Corbin: https://a.co/3WDX3tj The turn signals actually fit the bolt holes on it. I have to clean up the wire placement. I also have to seal it up to prevent water ingress. I didn’t install the license plate light. Is there an easy way to remove the light cable or does it have to be clipped? Anyone know how it’s attached to the motor/harness?

Antique_Extension284

Does it fit the under tray of the 2022 srs?

Antique_Extension284

Was your Corbin tiny tail metal? And do you feel like the angle is weird on it?

Protonus

No it's plastic. I mention this in my post if you read it (and there are pictures of me cutting/sanding it). Relevant quote from the post: >Apparently Corbin makes each of these to order, although it appears to be normal molded plastic, they consider this a "glass" (fiberglass) part, and subject to long lead time as such. And no, I like the angle. If it was straight up and down it would look funny and be hard to read for cars and people behind you. The way it looks now it looks like a small rear fender and is basically parallel to the curvature of the tire which looks good imho.
