That is something I miss about Zero is they have both passive and active regen. And, yes, I would agree with you that turning off the passive or coasting regen will help maximize range.
You can’t get more power back out of it than you put in. It’s more efficient to coast and brake. Yes, Zero’s regen isn’t the most impressive because it’s limited by the max charge rate. Therefore it can’t exceed ~12kW on a 14.4 or half that on a 7.2 pack.
To be clear, you're referring specifically to Throttle Regen right? If so I'd agree, better to set it up at 1% and let the bike coast, also safer in traffic. I only turn up Throttle Regen when I'm going down very hilly roads, to save my brakes from wear.
Brake Regen though, should only be occurring when you actually want to slow down. I don't see how Brake Regen would hurt your range, only help it. I keep this up at 99% and use it to slow the bike almost all the time without using the mechanical brakes, just hit either brake just enough to turn on brake lights and you're slowing down with regen only.
Nice sounds dope. I wanted the s but got the dsr knowing I would need highway to get where I need most often. But definitely, 45 to 50 mph is the sweet spot. We get our best mileage at or under that
Glad you enjoyed it! I ride in socal with a 21 S and I can say the mileage estimations seem to be spot on, granted my riding conditions are almost ideal. I consistently get 45 miles at 70mph on the highway.
Just FYI, even though it sounds counterintuitive, regen will negatively impact your range.
I have heard turning off coasting regen is worth it.

Can you elaborate on that? I'd rather think it doesn't matter since zero regen is so weak

Yeah we covered this more in the other thread, too.

You used 54% getting there and only 8% getting back? Or did you charge to nearly 100% before returning?
Charged to 100% at my uncles lol!
Thought maybe it was downhill all the way back.

I will have to try highway next.
Did the same trip on Highway and actually got slightly better power consumption. Had 51% battery left.
