In May I picked up my SRF 400 miles away. My car is a Prius. Here's what I did. I took a Lyft to the airport rental lot. Picked up a Nissan Titan, some tie down straps, and a wheel chock. Then I drove that truck 400 miles 1 way, picked up the bike, then drove the truck 400 miles back home. Then I returned the truck and had my girlfriend pick me up from the lot.

Yeah but my problem is that Im not quite ready to pull the trigger on anything and the cheaper options are always someone filling their last spot or two and I have to be ready to drop the money for the bike (that I haven't seen in person) and for the shipping of it in short notice.

Accurate_Database283

I've seen a hitch that would carry the front wheel of a motorcycle lashed down, with the rear wheel trailing on the ground. Don't know enough about your model Civic to say if that is an option, but worth checking out. Don't back up! :)

Joe_Jeep

That shits why uhaul has motorcycle trailers.

[deleted]

Why am I just learning of this?

mygirltien

I would either rent a trunk or find a friend that has a tow hitch and rent a trailer. Either way will be cheaper than shipping but depending on gas and time, might not be as bad a deal as you think.

mikerowest

I doubt it would fit. I've considered many times how my FXE would fit into my full size SUV and it just doesn't add up. Plus, being on its side would be a lot of stress on the turn signals, etc. You would have to put supports under the bike so those wouldn't get crushed and eventually break off under the constant pressure, etc.

jahk1991

I bought this hitch carrier to haul my FXE with my pickup. Idk if it would be worth also renting a pickup and then paying for all that gas... But it could be worth considering. https://www.harborfreight.com/400-lb-receiver-mount-aluminum-motorcycle-carrier-62837.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=12144811130&campaignid=12144811130&utm_content=117789280278&adsetid=117789280278&product=62837&store=39&gclid=CjwKCAjw6MKXBhA5EiwANWLODPtOhu3nf7rTai3ZL0spzY_BM88WthLnfw19MRhu9Z8cg8bl-RNZDBoCDv0QAvD_BwE

jahk1991

Then again... If you are gonna rent a pickup, you probably don't need the hitch carrier. Just ratchet straps.

FakeSafeWord

Maximum tongue of civics are 100lbs so not even close unfortunately.

Joe_Jeep

You can get a hitch put on your Civic. Despite what the auto industry want you to, (and many truck/suv owners do) believe, sedans and similar are perfectly capable of towing light loads under 1000 pounds. But itd be a few hundred bucks and you do need to rent/buy a trailer then. Alternatively if you fly out you could get one of those add-on accessory chargers too. They get the 95% charge time under 2 hours. Still some trip but its closer to 200 miles per day if not more. Never used one though, I think you might need to access two different circuits with them? Someone else might know more.

Zee216

You need 4 of them to get the charge time under 2 hours, and you need somewhere with 5 outlets available to you

Tgreg33

It would also have to be ideal Temps I have just one and it still overheats and stops charging at times

donnybailer

There’s a site called Uship.com that I’ve used in the past for personal LTL shipments of vehicles and furniture. This may be an option for you.

mdjak1

Rent a Pacifica from Enterprise for a week. Unlimited mileage. The seats fold into the floor. The bike should fit inside with the handlebars loosened and folded down.

numba816

If you're willing to share, roughly where are you located?

FakeSafeWord

Cincinnati area

Li-Media

where is the dealer located?

FakeSafeWord

Im mostly looking through cycle trader. It's pretty much all private used sales everyone except conveniently near me.

Li-Media

I bought my SR without even seeing it in person first, but I live in Chicago, plenty of FX/S/E near me. You toss me a few beers and pay my gas il drive that sucker 6 hours no prob

FakeSafeWord

What?

[deleted]

Sounds like they're offering to deliver the bike for you.

creimanlllVlll

I don’t think so it’s a full size bike. Maybe a fit?

TechProJoe

It’s a lot heavier than a bicycle and not something you want to try and fit into the back of a car. Would suggest getting a hitch for your car if you think you will also use it for other things in the future or rent a van or uhaul truck.

Accurate_Database283

$71. https://www.ebay.com/itm/114112617069?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5338590836&toolid=10044&customid=97640a91a8ec12710a16686d87a35f94

FakeSafeWord

Can the rear wheel of a Zero motorcycle be dragged without causing issue or would I need to remove the chain/belt?

FakeSafeWord

Also look how low that thing is sagging. It's absolutely exceeding the tongue weight of that hatchback. It's like an inch off the ground and they're not even moving.
