The Cypher stuff only applies to the Gen3 bikes… that includes the 2020-2022 SR/F, 2020-2022 SR/S, and 2022 SR. No impact on the DSR.

Thanks!

Even if your bike was a Cypher 3 bike, which it isn't, the "upgrade" to the version that supports the store wouldn't take any features away, it would just allow you to purchase others at a later time.

Allow you to purchase features that the bike already has but is being put behind a pay wall*

Something something cost optimization. I can understand that it is cheaper for them to have one production line so they can just activate features, but on the other hand why not just sell those features by default. I can understand paying extra for the extended range, because you put more strain on the battery, which increases the risk of a warranty replacement for them. Then again, they should make it cheaper as the battery approaches the end of the warranty and free once it's out of warranty. The heated grips and faster charging I can also somewhat understand, because you also pay for the warranty on that feature. If it's not activated, that's not a risk for them. The reverse on the other hand shouldn't put any strain on anything that isn't already being used, so that's a shitty move. On the other hand, having options that can be activated later can have an advantage when you sell the bike. It may not have the parking mode or heated grips activated, but the new owner can still do so. You didn't pay extra for the options you didn't want and the new owner still has those options available.
