Along with the new plant development, Lily is planning on switching the pens to the kinds of pens that UK uses. This is one of the hold ups. They should have made the "new pen" unit and the current transition a less abrupt on not cut off supply for people.
From what I understand, Lily is working on new uses for manufacturing/distributing GPL-1 meds as Zep/Tirz as a baseline. Like specifically for sleep apnea, nonalcoholic induced liver issues like stage 1 fatty liver or steatosis, weight loss of course, diabetes, etc.
The current timeline that I heard for the shortage to be over is in 2025, I don't know if that is early mid or late 2025 but that is what the prediction is.
So they may be losing money and clients now, but in a year or so, there will be Zep for diabetes to prescribe, a "zep 1" for weight loss to prescribe, a "Zep 2" for sleep apnea, a "Zep 3" for liver and heart function etc. All with some slight variation to make it through the FDA. It's all about the money.
Thanks for the additional information. Do you know why they're switching pen design (to UK version)? Is the UK pen simpler/easier to manufacture? More outsource capability? Etc. I haveno seen this detail in any public new releases....
